I'd avoid that. There's a big gap on either side of the pulley and the rope gets easily jammed between the pulley and bracket. Then you have to climb up on a ladder to get it unjammed. You could substitute thicker rope, but then you'd have to modify the mechanism that locks the rope in place.

I used one of these to ream out the steel seat tube on a bicycle so that a seatpost would fit. Granted, I didn't have to remove much material, but it worked fine. I suspect long-term durability is where these would fail.
