People who buy tools they will never use

I've seen a few of those psychology shorts; they are kind of interesting. I haven't watched the one you have up, but I have watched one about people who ride motorcycles, people who fix things, and people who like solitude. They are generalized, but quite a few of the conclusions hit close to...

Shaper 3D. I think it is expensive, but I get it for free as an educator. If you have or know someone with an educational email, you can get signed up.

I would carefully document all of it. Pictures, video with narration, any correspondence, and immediately document any conversations that take place. Speak to an attorney. If you have a case, you can also recover your costs. Municipalities and agencies have insurance for such things, and often...

    Pressure washer question.

What did the pump cost you? I've always heard the pumps are so expensive that it isn't worth it to change one out.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The "Glendora Garage"

Hey Hey Dan, I have a generator setup at my home which runs almost everything. My wife can put it into service if I am not home too. I live a little East of you, in Alta Loma (Rancho Cucamonga), so our power has been out a bunch of times over the past few weeks. What I am running is an HF 4000...

Things in your garage that you wish WEREN'T in your garage.

Tier 1 - Washer, drier, and water heater. Tier 2- Radial arm saw, table saw, router table, engine hoist, pressure washer, various steel materials (tube, plate, sheet) Tier 2 items will be moved to a shed once I build a new one, but every task is like a game of Tetris, before I can do one thing...

Organization is a goal, not a destination

That is more along the lines of a miscellaneous hardware department. I like what you are doing there.

Puget Dude’s creations and fabrications (Random project thread.)

I like it. I've really gotten into using HF cases to build "kits" for different needs, e.g. A/N fittings, seals, rivnuts, et. al.. Pull it out, it's organized, gets the job done quickly without looking all over for something, and it gets put away just as quickly.

Looking for Work bench top ideas

3/4 "utility grade" flooring from Lumber liquidators. I used it on this 10-foot bench and another 6-foot bench. The backstop and edging are dimensional pieces from HD. it's stained and coated with a marine-grade varnish. I use these two benches for clean work. Just out of the picture to the left...

First work bench. I’m inexperienced. Looking for suggestions and advice on optimizing this workbench.

I'll show you some of what I did. I welded up a structure out of 2 inch and added a piece of tubing to take a hitch tube with a mount welded to it. This bench is 10 feet long and I have another which is 6 feet and made of a bathroom pullman rather than a tube structure, and a thrid, 5 foot...

do you have your computer in your garage?

I have a desktop in there. I use it for parts lookup, pdf documents, Pandora, tracking work on the cars, CAD drawings. My favorite use is probably Pandora though. I have it linked to my stereo and can listen to what I like all day without commercials.

    Roofing question

I do have some information regarding venting for a ridge vent system. I think I'll go over it this weekend and determine if there is a enough ridge line and eave vents to do this correctly. I'll also talk to the contractor and see what his opinion is. I don't want to waste my money, so I am...

    Roofing question

That's interesting. You usually don't see metal roofs on homes in so cal. I may check that out to see what the difference in cost might be. I imagine that roof is pretty durable.

    Roofing question

We are definitely tearing it all off and making sure all the structural elements are right. I'll be there the whole time to make sure all the work and materials are what I want. My philosophy with things like this is to replace the whole system and make sure all the underlying things are...

    Roofing question

Got it. I'll read it to make sure it gets done right. I saw there are some things regarding the HVAC ducts. Looks like are going to get the HVAC redone prior to the roof. It works fine but is a little undersize for the house. Ducts, registers, and what not are all going to be replaced. This is...

    Roofing question

Holy ****... that's a hell of an addition! I knew you added on, but that is something else. Did you double your space? Our roof is similar in that it's low, but we don't have the structure on top with the gables. We do have one gable end with no venting. On the other end of the house we have a...
