I still have some 1/4" drive sockets and a handle (like a file handle) for sawzall blades. I know they did switch to Taiwan, but the stuff in have is USA
Found an older stanley powerlock that had both standard and Metric on it at a garage sale this summer. I had to buy it because I had never seen Metric on a tape measure before
I have no doubt that China can make something just as good or better than a U.S. manufacturer, however, I try to buy as little as I can from there, or other similar countries that allow child labor, extremely low wages, horrible working conditions etc etc.
I have a small pair of snap on dikes that I am trying to figure out the date code. To me it looks like a mirrored version of 1949, as it faces the wrong way compared to the charts I've seen. The "A" on the left side of the picture is part of USA, for orientation purposes.
They had different size ratchets, torx sockets, socket rails, wrenches and stuff, but it's all been moved to, and marked down in the clearance section. 1/4' flex heads and some torx sockets was about all that was left
Wonder if Craftsman is discontinuing their V series, or is Ace no longer carrying them, or is it just my local Ace hardware, because all their V series stuff is on clearance. 1/4" flex head ratchets are $25
What if some brand sockets, with the same part number, have different sizes? I know I have some craftsman and sk sockets that have different lengths, despite having the same part number. They are different ages/series though
New ones are thinner, and I think the socket holder piece it's self will slide onto a different size rail (could put a 1/4" drive socket on your 1/2" drive rail)... Old ones were for sure made in Taiwan
Looking to buy some US made, standard length 1/2" drive, 6 point metric sockets but don't see any offerings from Williams, Proto, or Wright. Mac, Snap-On and SK have them, is there anyone i'm missing?
I think Apex did that so people wouldn't notice the switch to China. Look what they are doing with Wiss aviation snips... They were "Made in USA", and said so on the front of the package. Then they went to "Made in USA with global components", but still noted on the front of the package...
