Proto precision 90 and sk lp90 side by side

For some reason, I thought we were talking about 3/8. I don't have a 1/2 Proto 90 for comparison but my experience with several of the 3/8 and 1/4 ratchets is very different. Hope the rebuild kit sorts it out for him.

    New SK LP90 Ratchets

What?! Haha! I don’t care if you keep the wrenches or not but I supported returning them and it is crazy to suggest I’d want you to keep them. I definitely never said you should polish them with a Dremel. I did wipe the filth off a Carlyle ratchet but I wouldn’t waste my time polishing...

    Pratt-Read Tool LLC

The Pratt-Read website seems to be down now. --> http://www.prattread.com/ On Ideal's website, it no longer lists Pratt-Read on the brands page --> https://www.idealindustries.com/us/en/brands.html They haven't removed SK from the brands page yet even though it has been sold. But Pratt-Read...

    Wright Tools

Could you give more details about your testing? Different hardness is used for different purposes--It's a balancing act. By "superior" do you mean they were harder or did you test other parameters?

    New SK LP90 Ratchets

I haven't seen anyone say "this should all be ok". You are acting unhinged and people are responding accordingly. You've made 34 posts complaining about this transaction, you copied and pasted the same text in multiple topics to flood the forum one day, you posted on Friday and then gave an...

    Walmart USA made pry bars?

The 12" USA made pry bar is on clearance for a little under $2. YMMV so check the Walmart website with your store selected or check brickseek. They still have other sizes of the USA made pry bars at regular price but I noticed they now have some import clones that copy the appearance.

    New SK LP90 Ratchets

The circumstances were certainly unprecedented. On top of the pandemic, they sold the company and had a huge sale. One of the posts on Slickdeals got 58.444 views! They probably got swamped from the historically low prices and all that exposure. I got several of the Carlyle locking flex...

More than a rumor: SK is in fact in process of being sold.

Looks like Great Star acquired Arrow in 2017. Looks like some are mix of USA and China. I haven't bought a stapler in many years and don't know if the product line changed after the purchase. Good to see at least some manufacturing in USA. I don't think I've ever seen anything from...

    Thin / short metric sockets?

Made in Japan. You can get them from Palmac, Amazon Japan, Ko-ken USA and other sources.

    New SK LP90 Ratchets

I doubt they are open on Sunday. And the company was sold so I would not be surprised if things aren't running smoothly. When they were trying to sell, I thought they were in trouble. When they started liquidating their top of the line at 75% off, I thought they must really be in trouble...

More than a rumor: SK is in fact in process of being sold.

There's a lot of false information in this topic and I'm not picking on you. If I were to pick on someone, there would be many others that I would have chosen over you --haha! (joking) Wiha makes the handles in the USA but they use global materials for the rest same as Klein. MegaPro uses...

Any comments on locking flex head ratchets from Carlyle?

Not bad. 32.99 CAD is 26.30 USD. Less than half the retail price of the Carlyle in USA. ($57.49/$26.30 = 2.2).

Any comments on locking flex head ratchets from Carlyle?

When I took apart the ratchets, I was surprised by the crude wire retaining ring. Haha! It's a bit rough inside. They aren't my primary ratchets so I haven't used them enough yet to break them in. For the price paid (around $20-25 and less) I'm fine with it but they normally ask way to much...

How To Keep Tools from Rusting?

Brake cleaner will strip some of the rust preventative coatings so if you bathe everything with brake cleaner then you really need follow that up with oil. If you strip the protectant and expose the bare metal without oiling afterwards then you are leaving your tools more susceptible to rust...

    Tools of Japan

Wera has patents on the plastic storage design --> https://patents.google.com/patent/DE102006055025A1/ If you want a bit driver set in a square box that is actually made in Japan, you might take a look at the Ko-ken catalog --> https://kokenusa.com/

How To Keep Tools from Rusting?

According to SO, they put a rust preventative coating on. It's the last part of step F in the photo. It's not much but probably enough to keep them in good shape while they're in the white van. Some companies really glob on the rust protective coating. It's pretty thick on Channellock for...

    New Knipex TwinGrip

Probably better not to tell customers that you are responsible for the price going up. Haha! I've read that the companies have legal ways of getting around MAP (minimum advertised price policy) like hiding the price until the product is added to the cart. Once it's in the cart, it no longer...

How To Keep Tools from Rusting?

I lived 4.999 miles closer to the ocean for a couple years. To prevent rust you need to create a physical barrier. The next step up from oil is wax. A paste wax will last much longer than oil. The step up from that is either paint or chrome.
