From the catalog: “PROKON” is a series of tools manufactured with a professional spirit for professionals. This solves various kinds of problems in construction, electric, and utility works. "PROKON" is all that craftspeople could ask" It's possible that I am victim of consuming false...

Is there a list somewhere showing SO models and details like, weight, dimensions, etc

He wants boxes but he didn't say until post 9 so I didn't know when I posted the ratchets.

    Snap On plastic selector switch

If I recall correctly the red part of the selector is plastic on the Ko-ken swivels. If you bought the screwdriver loose off the truck, the stain is most likely from one of your esteemed colleagues handling it with grubby hands and putting it back. All companies have some quality control...

    Tweezers at Epsteins

Some of the ones from HJE are SS and some are plated. For your intended use, SS makes sense for hygienic reasons. And you don't want plating shedding and giving you a chrome splinter while you are trying to remove a wood splinter. ;) And you can reshape the tips when there's no plating. You...

    Tweezers at Epsteins

Do you have a link to the Knipex tweezers that you like? There are a gazillion different ones. There are a lot of different tip styles for different purposes. For splinters you probably want something in the range of a No. 5 or AA. The fine ones like No. 5 will be very precise but will bend...

SK - New ratchet with stains?

Buy the company and bring back the swivel ratchets. ;)

SK - New ratchet with stains?

Good idea. The thinner the material the easier it will be. I used a scrap of spring steel.

SK - New ratchet with stains?

I haven't followed SK closely but my impression (2 cents worth) is the last few years may have been a perfect storm with the pandemic and attempt to sell the company (rumor is it sold or will be sold soon but it could just be a rumor). Although the regular prices are high direct from the site...

SK - New ratchet with stains?

Glad it helped. One trick is to put the ratchet in a clear plastic bag large enough for your hands to work unhindered. If you slip the ball bearing stays in the bag. What usually happens in these topics is that rather than just objectively discussing the tool, generalizations and insults...

    Upgrading ratchets

I don't know if they'll rebuild a FOD. They might just swap them out. Worth asking them if it's important to you. They are usually very responsive.

    Upgrading ratchets

The coverplate on the F80 is attached with screws. The coverplate on the F80 FOD is riveted and is not intended to be opened for oil or rebuild. If there are decent auction photos, you'll be able to see.

SK - New ratchet with stains?

You could get a new F80 for around $60 on Ebay, probably. Maybe less. I've gotten them for around $50 shipped. You could also buy used. The F80 and T72 are the easiest to find for cheap on Ebay. Have you tried removing and replacing that spring on the Williams? It's not easy to keep the...

    Upgrading ratchets

Dual 80 is a good choice. The F80 is probably the easiest to find new and cheap on Ebay. Double check that you are buying a F80 and not an F80 FOD. I've seen a few auctions leave off the FOD off the description.

SK - New ratchet with stains?

Reread the stuff that I quoted. They were insults about Americans and American manufacturing, not the criticism of the tool. The insults aren't helpful or warranted. You were just angry. I think you know that. I'm not making generalizations about you as a person. I just thought you needed...

SK - New ratchet with stains?

I think you need to take a step back and relax. I'm not excusing the imperfections but you are getting riled up over a "stain" and attacking Americans and American manufacturing in general. Did you try removing the cover plate and checking the seating? Did you check the cover plate flatness?

Cousins to the Carlyle locking flex head ratchets?

Also check Ebay for higher quality ratchets. You can find deals for tool truck ratchets for the same price as Napa typically asks for Carlyle locking flex. It does take patience but those deals pop up more often then you might expect. I've found several deals on locking flex head ratchets in...
