So I finished the project. For the wood I used two pieces of 23/32 advantech flooring plywood, and one piece of 11/32 plywood. Screwed it together and bolted it down to the box. The wood is about .030-.040 thicker than what I actually needed. But I ended up with a bigger gap than I wanted...

I know its not the exact same thing but I would avoid the kobalt long hex sockets with the ball end. I picked up a 5mm and broke the ball off the first time I used it. It is weak metal. The fastener was barely past snug. I am unsure of coo of the one I purchased.
