Finished up the painting yesterday, polished the handles, and re-assembled this morning. The paint does not have much of the hammer-tone to it, and just looks glossy, but I am satisfied with the result. This was a fun project, I think I have Visitis. Already have a really nice Paramo No6 lined...

Let it set overnight or longer as previously stated. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the information. I did fill and grind some of the casting defects in the vise with JB Weld, and got it primed and painted. Will post more pics when I get a chance.

Yes I did some searching and came up with the same info. Any idea about the stamped motif in post #11?

Clean-up is proceeding well, just have the swivel base to clean. In one of the attached pictures, you can see a stamp with an anchor, with US either side, on the nose of the screw. I am guessing this may have come from a US Naval shop, do they stamp equipment with that logo? Julian
