My Deckel FP2 has boxed ways for the Z. Renown for being a highly accurate toolroom mill. Not sure I would put stock into boxed ways being inaccurate as another poster mentioned.

Given the consistent nature of these complaints, it may be a better course of action to contact the manufacturers and make them aware. No manufacturer wants distributors being rude to customers. No distribution = no business for the Cayers.

I vote for this. I would however mill a straight hole with a slot drill, and then put a "big-sert" time-sert in as the hole is likely going to be rather over sized. Time-serts are amazing, and have a really nice snug fit thread.

I use cheap expandable plastic hose. Almost like vacuum cleaner hose. The stuff that can be compressed or expanded. Holds its shape well and allows you to conceptualise the design. Even take a "pipe" out and make a welding jig from it.

Hose clamps work great on sections with straight joins. If you cut through the radius of a 45 or 90 where the mandrel bend necks, you will see hose clamps do not work. When the diameters do not match the hose clamp does not grip both pieces. It grips the piece with the largest diameter. Best...
