    '98 Chevy C1500

Have you had any big issues with it or anything? Thanks for the tip jay50. That bit looks okay. Where it is leaking coolant is the water pump. So I'll have to fix it sooner than later.

    '98 Chevy C1500

Good point, it has some ignition turn issues anyway. I have to fiddle with it a bit to get it to turn. I figured I could with that, but with this point.......sold. Bender78, Congratulations as the first YOU **** poster, you have won a :thumbup: Today I took it down to a buddies shop...

    '98 Chevy C1500

It's a 4-speed automatic, 2x4, with the 5.0L V8 MPI engine. Thanks for the recommend on the website for these trucks, most definitely will log onto it. I bet you're right I bet I can get my $250 back from the parts I want to ditch.

    '98 Chevy C1500

So this week I had the opportunity to go to a police impound auto auction; my first auction. I didn't know what to expect. I went to see if I could get a good deal on a nice beater work truck. I registered, was handed a list of the vehicles up for auction, and a number (#23). Many of the...

What do you use for sound in your garage/shop

I'm using an old (though you might think as brand spanking new since it's only a few years old), Apple iPod Hi-Fi. Apple doesn't make them anymore but it makes pretty good sound for my little one car garage. I can dock an iPod or my iPhone when I come into the garage or connect my laptop to it...

    look what i got today

Bummer on the engine exploding and the vehicle being scrapped. But good on you for making some money! A good beater truck is always a nice thing to have to move things around. Find one with a little less rust and no drive-train problems and you got something worth keeping. Unless you already...

    Like mother, like daughter

Nice work. Like most of the members on this forum, I'm sick of living in an Ikea world, and love things with character; whether it's a car, computer, garage, or furniture. As such, I aspire to have your skill-set one day and am loving the process of learning to get there. Out of curiosity...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Time for the weekend report....... So this week I slowed it a bit down. I took time and took a bunch of measurements and figured out exactly what materials I needed to finish the garage. Since with the fresh measurements in hand I ran down to Home Depot after work on Friday. I picked up all...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Nope, not a tire rack....though I do like that idea and I do have an extra set sitting on my back patio....hmmm?

Different circuits, one for the lights and one for the rest. Learned about that type of wire after I had already installed the 14/2 wire.

    Introducing Jack Olsen...

Nicely done....Jack....if you're half as good at moderating as you are at garage building, you are going to do amazingly well.

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Sorry @onewaydave, I swear I'm not sandbagging the work. My friend Nick and I honestly have never done anything like this before and we're learning how to do it as we go. I did though spend a ton of time researching how to do every stage and task. For instance, I watched as many youtube videos...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Whoa....good catch. I need to double-check the breakers. Then I get to learn how to fish the appropriate gauge wire if that circuit is on a 20 amp breaker!!!! Sweet! :shocking: :)

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Yeah, I'm a bit focussed and excited about this project. It's a few things really..... 1. I have a motorcycle I want to rebuild and I really want to start that project in a nice garage. 2. This project is fun, so I'm kinda overdosing on it at the moment. Though I am a bit exhausted when my head...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

So this week I got a bit excited and worked every day after work on my garage. I also ran into a bit of a problem this week; I worked so fast and was so focussed on the task at hand, that I forgot to take detailed pictures for a few bits of it. On the plus side, I got a bit more done than...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

Thanks all! Much appreciated. My buddy and I don't know what we're doing, but after reading a bunch of posts on this site, a ton of research online, a lot of time on youtube, and quite a few visits to home depot, we're making our way through it. @Jake, you are not kidding. Man is it dusty. The...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

It's been tiring that's for sure, but a blast at the same time. With the drywall up, it really changes the look of the garage for sure. It's now a blank canvas and I can picture it already. Can't wait to get it done so I can start on a motorcycle rebuild. I bought a motorcycle for $500 in...

Garage Rebuild - It's not a barn, but it'll do.

And now for the weekend report. Having electrical and lighting installed, the garage rebuild it moving right along. This is the point where it gets very very dusty. Since the garage hasn't been touched since the early 80's, and there have been plumbing leaks and what not in the ceiling above...
