Realistically, how much of a taper for the backyard from the house?

2% would be good, but 1% is pretty much the minimum. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Can the city decide they're going to take over a private dirt road?

Is there an association that is responsible for the road, or is it within an easement and the users are responsible for paying for the maintenance? I’m guessing it’s one of three scenarios: 1) Private right of way (ROW) owned by an association 2) Lying within one or more easements across one or...

Finally finished boxing the ductwork and installing the ceiling. Not the prettiest but should keep the dust out of the insulation.

    Wiring Help - Band Saw

Here's the switch that I removed. It does not seem to have a 110v option listed in the diagram or label. Is there a simple 'light switch' type switch that will work? I'm guessing that a household light switch isn't rated for 20 amps, but there should be something easy to drop in to get this...

    Wiring Help - Band Saw

I bought a new switch because the switch that it used for the 220v wiring wasn't working for the 110v wiring. Switching 5 & 6 worked just fine. My next problem is that it doesn't stay on when I hit the switch. It runs when I hold the switch down, but stops when I release the switch. I tried...

    Wiring Help - Band Saw

I've got an 18" Grizzly Band Saw that I'm trying to wire for 110v. It was my fathers, but he had it running on 220v. I don't have 220v in my garage, and since the motor shows it's capable of both, I'd like to switch it. I bought a new switch, and thought I had it wired correctly, but it's...

    Value to These Tools?

Any value to these? I picked them up over the years, but am trying to clean things out. The smallest box end wrench is marked powerkraft. The socket is marked indestro select. The nut driver is marked spintite. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    AR-Trvlr's Workspace

Next project is build a rolling cabinet for a couple of tools to free up some more space, build a rack for the wood, and hang a plywood ceiling. Because of the haphazard way that plumbing and wiring has been installed over time, I'm going to add 2x2s to the bottom of the joists so that I can...

    AR-Trvlr's Workspace

My father is downsizing, so I got most of his tools. Some I've sold, some I've sent to my brother, and some I'm keeping. Here's how it mostly sits today:

I mostly used the garage as it was for a while, but in the last year or so I've been tring to make it more useful. One of the early projects was to demo the bench in the alcove that the P.O. had built, and replace it with some functional storage.

I finally got my own garage when we bought our house in 2011. The house was built in 1959, and we bought it from the original owner. The garage is roughly 14' x 19', with a narrow (7'8") garage door and low (7'-4") ceiling. Not that large, but it was mine. These photos date to 2012 or so...

Hanging a Jet Dust Filter on it’s Side?

Hanging a Jet Dust Filter on it’s Side?

Any reason that I shouldn’t hang a Jet dust filter on its side? My garage has a 7’ ceiling, so hanging it normally is a problem for clearance. I’ve got a spot where it would get good airflow but be out of the way, but I’d have to hang it on it’s side. Would it kill the system, or would it be fine?

Switching motor from 220v to 110v

My father gave me some of his tools as he downsizes. One is this Grizzly band saw. He was running it on 220v, but I need to switch to 110v. It looks like it’s fairly simple - just follow the diagram. The wires are numbered, so move the to the positions shown. Am I missing anything? Also...
