Robert, I like the idea, as a guy that has RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) my left hand is weaker than the right. I do a lot of work in 16ga. So I am thinking about making one for my 16ga handwork. This idea rocks.

I just use my ZTR, with a small hitch on it. I can back a trailer into the tightest spots I have found around my property. Its a 77"x12' single axle utility. It also doubles as a great grass cutter. Small lawn mower works well for this a zero turn unit, works great.

If it was me not knowing the solution but sounds like your caping a 3" tube, I would get some one to lathe them up out of 1/4 or 3/8" and make it a step at your ID and the rest of the 1/4 at your OD of the tube. Have them radius the outer edge and you have an press plate that will sit flush...
