    Williams USA sockets

Mail man delivered my new set of Williams USA 1/2 sockets! Really nice, I have a bunch of the Taiwan sockets from Williams in 1/4 and 3/8 and needed a 1/2 set to replace my craftsman sockets (chrome chipping like crazy, keep on replacing, chrome keeps on chipping) must say I'm impressed! Only 75...

    Picked up some Craftsman wrenches

I have that set simply to help run down nuts to pull exhaust studs off a v-twin. Only need the 1/2 wrench but for 20 bucks I said why not, they aren't the greatest thing in the world but they do save me some time here and there

Bit sockets - used SO vs new Proto or Wright

All good choices, if you have a snappy truck that comes by though I'd go with snap on just for ease of warranty

Thanks for the info! That 80% spec is very interesting!

    Snap On vs. Williams

From another site... "-If it's hex bits (Torx maybe....) you're seeking then be advised that NONE of the aforementioned brands make thier own hex keys and doubtful that they make the Torx either. I used to be a toolmaker for Eklind Tool and we made the hex wrenches and fold-ups for Snap-On as...

That's what I'm guessing! It'd be interesting to look at those Elkind Wrenchs up close

    Snap On vs. Williams

But you can't just use someones patent on your own tool without paying some type of royalty to the patent holder, that's exactly why you patent it! I could be 100% wrong but that seems way to similar. Anyone have an older set of snap on hex wrenchs with a patent number on it? Curious to see if...

    Snap On vs. Williams

Further investigation into that patent..... Well that patent on both the snap on and Williams hex wrenchs is actually held by eklind tools......... http://www.eklindtool.net/ http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000189PRU/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/183-0974017-7726826 ..... Damn those look familiar!

    Snap On vs. Williams

Just checked my Williams metric hex wrenches and my snappy sae hex wrenchs (my metric snappys are at work) and they both have the same patent number on them, pat. No. D343106

    New snapon set 129RTSM

I have the set without the bits too, very nice when space is limited, also use the sockets with a standard ratchet

    Snap On vs. Williams

I don't think snap on is really competing with themselves, Williams is an industrial brand snap on is generally more automotive focused. The Williams allen Wrenchs weren't all that much cheaper than the snappys

    Snap On vs. Williams

They even have identical stampings, same packaging. It's like the blue point and import Williams ratchets, they are the same, just look at the two ratchets, I don't need to test the metal to tell that they are the same product (crazy handle design). Do you own both sets of allens? Or are you...
