    York 150 vise restoration

Great find Brad! Your York will clean up nice. Since starting this thread 6 years ago, I restored a couple of these Yorks. I used both sandblasting and electrolysis with success. Choose whatever is easiest available for you. Regarding paint, I am very satisfied with Rustoleum Hard Hat spray...

    York 150 vise restoration

I had good experiences ordering through the York website. Indeed you get an invoice and then you have to transfer the money yourself to their account. Shortly after you will receive your order. The jaws you selected should work fine for the 150.

    Help to ID this hammer

My father in law gave me a hammer he got from his father. I cannot ID the brand nor the use. Maybe the collective knowledge on these forums has the answer. What I know: - Faces have a slight crown - Non magnetic metal, seems stainless - Marking says: patented Nov. 9 1926 patented 1927 - Brand...

    York 150 vise restoration

Sorry man, can't help you with that. I also noticed later models to be more rectangular, but have no idea about the timelines for changes. Also the 'A' addition to the models. No idea what that stands for. To me an 80A looks the same to an regular 80. Maybe you can ask York directly?

    Tools of Japan

Yesterday I visited the Tokyu Hands store in Shibuya, Tokyo. They had a larger collection than the store in Hiroshima. It was really geared towards the hobby crowd. Very cool nonetheless. I bought a Canary scissor and a small Vessel hammer with hard plastic faces. Today I went to the Factory...

    Tools of Japan

Went to a Tokyu Hands in Hiroshima yesterday. Overall the store was nice, but the tool department was a bit of a dissapointment. Very small selection and most of it was made in Taiwan or even India. So I did not buy anything there. My bet is on Tokyo for the Tokyu Hands and Factory Gear store...

I had a similar sort of hammer not to long ago. I heard it was a forging hammer for blacksmiths. In smaller sizes also used by jewelery makers.

Re: York vise restorations Rustoleum Hard Hat Bright Red 2165 (RAL 3000) On the previuous page is a picture of an original paint one and a repainted one with the Hard Hat paint. The original is a darker red. For me it is close enough and I really like the Hard Hat paint. It is easy to apply...

    York 150 vise restoration

Finally started on the last vise. Was easy to take her apart. And after some sandblasting and a hit with the wire wheel here and there. Sanding and paint are on the schedule for this weekend.
