this thiefs happened over 30 + years ... I used to live in Memphis, Tennessee ... it wasn't the neighborhood it was the town! ... ripped off in 3 different neighborhoods .... had my house broke in, cars and trucks stolen ... lived there 44 years .... been gone 11 and I don't ever want to have to...

well you are right I don't have much ... but the insurance ripped me off every time .... it's bad to get your tools stolen and then have the insurance rip you off to

I've had my tools stolen 3 times. As my experiences went, you would be better off to put the money you would spend for insurance in a savings account to replace your tools after they have been stolen.

I have an old snapon box I bought in the 60's. I think they are referred to as road boxes now. It has a cover attached to the lid that covers the drawers. I put stickers all over the front of it after it got rolled around in the back of a pick up a few times to cover up the dents and scratches...

I really like that tool box ... they are mighty expensive

I would guess .... and it's only a guess .... that Proto is U.S. made and that Proto "Black Hawk" is foriegn made ... kinda like Snap on / Blue Point

Good Luck on filling them up. I have the 1/4" Hanson tray. There is a place for a 5/8" deep X 1/4" drive socket. I have not been able to find one anywhere (chrome) so I have an empty spot that I can't fill unless I used an impact socket. Some people just break off the teeth they can't or don't...

I have an old wooden creeper that I bought from NAPA so long ago I don't remember when. I almost never use it. In fact if it dissapeared I probably wouldn't realise it was gone for years. Cardboard works better for me. You can slide on it as well as using a creeper and when you finish a job all...

Cost and use of the tools is also a factor. Why pay for a polished finish and chrome on tools that will be abused and subjected to harsh chemicals. Another reason could be that fancy chrome tools might be walking off the job site.

I know a welder that has several pair of glasses. He had the doctor make him a set for several distances from his face so he can see to make a weld in any position or distance from an arms length to right in his face. He was able to make "in position pipe welds"100% x-ray into his 70's.

I have alot of experience fabricating stainless steel. I think sharpening drill bits is just part of working with stainless steel.

I think this is an apple compaired to apple thing. SK and Proto are both top of the line tools. You can buy either brand and have a great set of wrenches and sockets. I would say that Proto is probably the more desirable brand but more expensive. It's really like compairing a Granny Smith apple...
