1. Challenger open ended wrench set part of the $20 bundle deal
2. challenger box end set $5
3. Brand new and never opened craftsman thread restorer kit $20 but let's call this one free since i got $20 off!

That is all and i most say i am really happy about what i got at this sale today. I love the challenger stuff and those will all stay in my personal collection forever. Can you guys know if i should keep all the sealed craftsman stuff alone or should i open it and use it? I am thinking since they are sealed the will bring a premium on ebay.

Nice stuff, that Williams Kobalt is always on my list since that was the first set I bought with my Dad but I have yet to find any in the wild. Biggest mistake I made was warrantying parts of mine including the ratchet and it got replaced with Tawainese.

This is my firsts post and I will most likely be needing a bit of help, but I picked up a 10 hp Saylor-Beall 707 on a 120 gal tank over the week for $140 at an online auction.

original.jpg

That's a great deal. Looks like you will need a pressure switch and motor starter as well as a motor swap. The Saylor Beall pumps are one of the best made and well worth the time to refurbish. I recommend you also change the oil and remove valves to inspector and clean up if needed.

For our Northern Virginia and Richmond contingent, I'll be cannonballing down the I-95 corridor tomorrow between those two locations and stopping in at sales along the way. If you see a guy in a rental Mustang and a black ball cap, say hello!

Picked this Wilton 5" mechanics vise for $20.00 today after work. The ad read "tools, tools and more tools. " Of course by the time I got off for it was well picked over. The old guy having the sell was just digging the vise out to fill the tables back up. Other wise it would have been long gone . He also had and not selling an Atlas drill press and a old Delta bench grinder with stand ... Two really nice pieces I tried talking him out of but nothing doing.. Never hurts to try , right?
Any way he said the vise was never bolted down and I see no signs of it either. It sat under a bench catching dust and spider webs.

Here is an acquisition from about a month ago that predates my finding of the GJ website, but it is so good I had to share.

I was at work when I get a call from my 14 year old son at school. I initially panic because I thought something might be wrong. Turns out he was on his lunch period so he called to ask if I wanted a projector cart. That morning his teacher asked a couple of the kids to drag it out to the dumpster in back of the school. I met him at the school that afternoon and we headed to the dumpster. In the trash was not one but TWO projector carts, each with its own powerstrip and all kinds of cables, literally in like new condition. Then we see the second cart had what looked like a speaker hanging under the top shelf. We bring it home and identify it as an Anchor AN-135 speaker with a built in amp. A quick eBay search showed it going for anywhere from $170 -$ 200. The carts were Bretfords and on Amazon listed at $160 each.

The biggest surprise was the speaker. It has several inputs including an earphone jack. Plugged my phone into it and the sound quality is just absolutely amazing, and it cranks! It sounds better than the stereo I had when I was a kid. The speaker now resides on my son’s gaming computer, his reward for being quick to recognize I could use a cart!

I also now realize why my school taxes are so damn high!

Edited to add: Here is a link to what I did with one of the carts I posted on the Repurposing thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5753819&postcount=578

My first antique oil pumps. There were three of these (different models) at a local auction house Thursday night. One had a broken top and I was not interested. I really wanted the smaller of these two because it was mounted on a stand and was pretty intact and ready for display. Just needed an old oil can to place with it. Ususally these things go online for at least $100 each so I set my sights on one. Got the little one I wanted for $45 and when the bidding stalled on the larger Bennett pump with brass cylinder I jumped in with one bid at $65 and won it too! Love them both and now will have a bit of brass polishing to do some day.

First score of the year for me. Day started out pretty bad, nothing at 4-5 sales advertising tools but cheap stuff and/or overpriced okay stuff.

Then hit the final sale I had planned, ended up with a Record No 5 vise for 15$ and two boxes of new unopened Decora style outlets (10 per box) and an 18" Westcott stainless steel ruler. He wanted 3$, so I gave him the 2.75$ I had in change :p

After that went home and took SWMBO to the farmer's market for breakfast. Then headed out again to grab a case of beer for eventual BBQ'ing later on in the day. While doing so checked Kijiji like I always do and saw a new sale posted. Headed there and it turns out to be a hoarder/collector. Lot's of cool stuff and will head out there again in the morning to hopefully pick up a few more things but for now came home with a 12 gallon stainless steel shop vac for 10$. No accessories with it, and the on/off switch is either stuck or broken; but it ***** and it's hard to argue with the price when I was actually in need of one.

Not my best day ever, but a day where you get a deal on stuff you actually need (I was planning on replacing all the switches and outlets in the house, and who the heck doesn't need another vise?) is a good day, not too mention for my first successful outing of the year I'll call that a win. And we have a long weekend so two more possible days coming up.

And now I'll head back to page 29 of this thread, I'll get caught up someday.

All these were from the $1 table. The square is from Japan and the item on the left is a miniature canvas lineman's tool bag.

I picked up this drill press with the stand and a 1/3 of a pail of drill bits. Manufactured date is 1980, 5/8 chuck, and 300-2300 rpm speed range.
Drill press $95

The cabinet I over paid for, $35

Oil 5 gallon oil can, free. I cut the tops off and use them for flower pots outside my shop.

Wow what kind of sale were the extensions at? The most any sale charges around here for extensions is $1. At $6 each that is used ratchet money here.

Flatsbroke, that NYE is a neat one. I bet that was made by PROTO by the look of it. I had a pipe wrench of theirs.

Topop Some interesting pliers/wrenches there.

Fine scores all around guys.

I think that the numbers next to the hanger hole on the 6" NYE adjustable is a clue to the maker. Crescent used numbers, but 2 digit IIR.

Only made on stop today, on the way to the office for a little while. Picked through about six boxes to get the below items.
A 3-1/2" Wilton, USA made, looks like it hadn't been used.
5f3cdddde56ebb826b8dbf01612923df.jpg

CM 1/2" rat jet and a 1/4" "Lifetime" ratchet and some extensions.

4b5848d12b432042f1f8ebf5ce5b6269.jpg

A handful of Park bicycle tools, thought I'd use on my Trek, but don't look like anything fits.
fe8ecf577bab4516e17504d3aa7baa5b.jpg

A misc group of SK metric sockets, Klien multi tool, Knipex I thought were end cutters, but are blunt, I'll have to look up and a neat little pair of pliers made in England.

Replies? It's not Craigslist classifieds or a dating site. :p

You did real good there man. I like to call out a few nice finds that people get that grab my interest. Some tools are repetitive because we see them over and over, so nobody really gets excited. If everybody commented on every little tool......:dunno: Sometimes I think people feel like they are over posting if they just comment too much. Who really cares though. This forum is for discussion, this thread is ours to enjoy right? to Garage Journal.

Sometimes if you listen close though you can hear the silent cheers

... came home with a 12 gallon stainless steel shop vac for 10$. No accessories with it, and the on/off switch is either stuck or broken; but it ***** and it's hard to argue with the price when I was actually in need of one.

Took it apart before dinner to fix the switch, had it figured out and running fine. When I went to put the top part of the case back on I dropped the darned motor and now it won't work at all anymore

I'm not an electrician, far from, but I only dropped the darn thing from about 1-2' off the ground. Can't really see that it screwed up too much, I did take a look at it as much as I could and nothing seemed wrong, but not wanting to end up like this :shocking: I put it back together and will have one of our electricians have a look at it Tuesday.

Good day out today. Got this 1/2" Wendell socket set and these measuring tools for $20, looked through them and found that 1/2 are old school snap-on.

Got this little Cfman for $3

Then got this gorgeous vise and stand for 200. Great day

Lots of good finds, but that $30 Wilton Bullet is a tough one, as it's a quest for me to get one in my lifetime!!!

Still bullet-less.

Not much in the rain for me this Saturday.

Pic 1--Convex 36" Mirror that helps with blind spots and collisions. No hanging hardware included.

Pic 2--Pair of 5 gallon motor oil cans. Brand on one is Unico and other is Citgo

Pic 3--Degreaser, spin on propane tank and Thor Model 15T Speed Sander.

Pic 4-7 is an odd looking wrench and no markings. Any ideas on what it was used for?

Mike

Cody, sometimes people just get busy, and can't always make replies, or have to be selective about the time spent, or even just spot check for the things that really pop for them, due to time constraints.

I still "owe" pics for the ~200 Plvmb/Protos tools I got last week (half are stil in the back of the rig..), but after 70+ hours working, and a graduation, and life's unavoidable duties, Its a wonder I got in any posts this past 2-3 weeks!

This AM, I went out for a couple of hours, but it was VERY slow...

A Simpson 390 Volt/AMP/Watt meter (probably not too new, it has the two prong non polarized plug... newer one have 3 prong.) $5

attachment.php

and an ARO 3/8 Drive impact gun. this one was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off, 2-3 drops of oil in the inlet (I added the Lincoln type connector) and I greased the head bearing, and it works fine! $10.

Anyone have any info on this one? seems pretty old, but the info plate on top is MIA.

For a little different type of post in this thread, I had a garage sale yesterday and today - sold three Gerstner tool chests and two vises. I had some very happy customers, and I'm happy with the sales - I love win-win situations.

Good day out today. Got this 1/2" Wendell socket set and these measuring tools for $20, looked through them and found that 1/2 are old school snap-on.

Got this little Cfman for $3

Then got this gorgeous vise and stand for 200. Great day

Joe are you kidding me with this vise and stand!!! :pimpflash I dream of finds like that here in the Midwest. Well done!

I know not everyone can reply to everyone of my posts that would be silly. Most of the time i just post the small items i get for fun and don't expect any reply's. But when i am out there are score a huge score like the craftsman lot all i can think about is getting home and posting here and showing you guys how good i did. When i get those big lot's i take each piece and take pics of them, upload them, and writing a long post on what i got and it takes over a hour sometimes to do that. I love hearing from you guys when i do really good like yesterday and like seeing at least a couple posts about it.

A Simpson 390 Volt/AMP/Watt meter (probably not too new, it has the two prong non polarized plug... newer one have 3 prong.) $5

and an ARO 3/8 Drive impact gun. this one was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off, 2-3 drops of oil in the inlet (I added the Lincoln type connector) and I greased the head bearing, and it works fine! $10.

Anyone have any info on this one? seems pretty old, but the info plate on top is MIA.

The Aro Air tool looks to be of 50-60's vintage-maybe look for a older Aro catalog for confirmation & model #--might be obs for parts if required???

Nice find on the watt meter Outlaw! I found one a while back, but it was missing the leads. Put it on the old meter shelf in the living room. If you are looking for more info on it, this is a good spot: http://www.stevenjohnson.com/simpson/ Also, there is a whole website for Simpson 260's that has some info also.
