Those snap on screwdriver sets bring a lot of money on ebay. It doesn't look as nice as mine but yours could still get a lot for it.

You guys are doing better than me this weekend.

Ooof, I'm beat.
Short on sleep, I had to get up before dawn to drive my sister and family to the airport this morning. Then back to the house to get my truck (can't smoke in my sister's suv). That put me almost an hour and a half behind schedule for the 9 stops I had mapped out (all in the opposite direction).

When I got to the first stop, I had just missed out on a Wilton Tradesman that went for $20. And that's pretty much how the rest of the morning went. Although, I did pick up one thing on my longtime wish list at my second stop. That made me think that there might be hope for the rest of the day. Wrong.

Stop # 5 was the second day of an estate sale that I missed yesterday (almost all the tools were gone) because I was busy playing Uncle Mommy to a 3yo all day. My Lump-in-Law was supposed to take over in the afternoon, but that just means that I need to supervise him while he "watches" his own son with his eyes closed on the couch. He's a great guy to watch sports with, but is useless around the house. As a parent he's clueless, but has plenty of opinions. I'm glad they're on vacation this week, I need the break.

Anyway, the other stops either had nothing, or were cleaned out by the time I could get there. Another Saturday burning gas with little to show for it.

Stop #1 - $10
Eagle flammable rag trash can. UL rated.
(needs minor tweaking)(been wanting one for years :rocker: )

Stop #3 - 50¢
Proto (USA) #1228 7/8" combo wrench

Stop #5 (the estate sale) - $2
SnapOn SSD2(?) yellow flat screwdriver
S-K #40836 1/2dr deep socket 1-1/8"
Tuff-Tub 30gal tub (I'm hoping it will one day grow up to be an electrolysis tank)
(I'm trying not to dwell on what I missed yesterday - failing)

Maybe the flea market won't get rained out again tomorrow. We've been on a 7 day rain cycle lately.

More great saves guys! :thumbup::thumbup:

Fairly quiet. 3 hits out of 5, so decent, no TOO's (all drive by's). Nothing huge but a couple of nice finds.

First stop first grab was this Doskocil case. I didn't recognize the name but apparently its a US company, and their main stay is now pet cases, but they also do equipment cases like this, and also gun cases. This sucker retails for $170 so well worth $10.

attachment.php

Same place had this Wire wheel and the NOS disc sander attachment for a Craftsman Block. total for everything including the case was $17. :D

attachment.php

Second decent stop had this cool Wood Powr-Kraft Stapler box, as well as a chromed handle, along 1/4" drill (looks unused) a set of Ridgid extractors in the orange case, a half spool of SS safety wire and a bucket opener.

attachment.php

also this 1/2" drive Blackhawk Speeder

attachment.php

and last but not least, this Crosman V-350 (corrected) "Slide Action" BB gun (the barrel slides to **** the pressure cylinder) it will need a complete refinish and probably needs new O-rings inside for full power, but it does shoot. Apparently this model was replaced by a V-350, and both seem fairly rare.

attachment.php

$5 for all at the second stop.

Another $5 at stop 3 got me: 3 BMW/Heyco DOE's, and the water pump Pliers, a 3" brass CO plug, 4 transistor heat sinks, a soldering Heat sink, 6 banana plugs, an handful of keys, and I saw the ignition set al closed up and started to unroll it thinking "OK China or Taiwan what.." and my jaw dropped when I saw "Wright", and its complete! :rocker:

attachment.php

That is all!

Outlaw, as another lover of old air guns I say you **** on that Crossman find. I've never seen one with a sliding barrel as the cocking mechanism before. That's a neat piece of history. Just shows how much variety there was and still is in air guns.
Nice haul for the day.

Here's a tip for all you tool hunters: if you see an old timey scale RR hobby shop having a going out of business sale, you really should stop.

Here's my score today, 6 older Akro-Mils "Haz-Bin, Jr." parts bins, made in Akron, Ohio. One 8 drawer, 2x 16 drawer, 1x 20 drawer, 1x 32 drawer, and 1x 48 drawer for a total 140 bins. The 2 larger units have a full back with hanging holes. The plastic bag has 10 spare bins to replace some with cracked handles. Some scratches and dings but nice vintage shape.

Also at same place, 2 quarts of Goo-Gone, Pexto claw hammer with stubby handle, 2x Screwball ratcheting screwdrivers, one in original box, Klein bent needle nose pliers, PLVMB TOOL CO. LVS ANGELES partial 1/4 set in metal case, and a Starrett wire drill gage.

Bins were $35, total was $50, not you **** territory but not bad.

Geesh...man you guys have to stop getting so many deals! I'm getting super jealous over here. haha

Struck out a lot today. But grabbed a couple of interesting things. A B & D workmate which I forgot to take a picture of. Not that old or in the best of condition but still in decent shape. An interesting little pair of fishing pliers I haven't seen before made by "Riley Specialty Grand Rapids Michigan". And a nifty little screw holding screwdriver. "Jiffy-Tite" by Millen MFG Co. Boston Mass. It holds the screw in the slot and not over the head. I dig gadgets so I thought it was pretty cool. And a couple of games I remember from my childhood. Got suckered in with the nostalgia. $15 for everything

Thanks Malkow! Yeah they can be fun, to find and fix, and when your done you have something to play with!

Dave are those plastic or metal drawers on the Akro-Mils parts bins? Those are great for small bits for sure!

In further news, that wire wheel turned out to be made in Germany. I just recently got a US made one and used that To refresh my old wheel which was getting pretty small... So Now I have one waiting in the wings!

FYI, for those that care, (Malkow?) That Crosman V-35C actually IS a V-350... the stamping in the barrel is not perfect. Apparently its common a sI'm seeing a LOY of posts about V-35C's but nada from Crosman (who is VERY good about maintaining old owners manuals on-line!)

Went out needing nothing and found something so it was a success.
First stop I picked up a "fire safe" for $2. Second stop was closing up due to rain so prices were good but nothing I wanted. But they really wanted me to have something and I came away with an 8' ladder, a box of earplugs and an un-named axe for $10. Then as I was getting in my car they gave me a couple of citronella bucket candles.
By now the rain precluded any other planned stops so I headed for a junk store on my way back to the shop. Here I picked up a couple of fans and a Snap on load tester, all needing repair/restoration. $20. The load tester works but needs a clamp. The fans need more!

Forgot about these...Werner USA 4' aluminum ladder $10
Also this weird 6" gap rule marked NTC Ltd. USA never heard of brand before but it looks like Lufkin font. $1

Everything was $1/ea except the items with a price tag. The little knife is a Case and chuck is an Albrecht. The little clamp is interesting.

Did you get the pointer for the height gauge? It's normally held on by the bracket with the knurled screw.

Saw there was a machine shop closing down and thought I might try and find some of my missing "Wish List" items. Ended up with these:
-Three hout drill cabinets (and it looks like its all three standard ranges)
they were filled with reamers but as me and the owner were emptying them out he got tired of it and just told me to keep what reamers were left in the boxes (aka one cabinet filled with reamers still)
- mitutoyo flexible arm (on my wish list!)
-Two R8 collets (was missing those sizes)
-R8 keyless drill chuck (German! "Albrecht")
- Williams Small ball peen hammer
- craftsman pliers
-proto 3332 1/2" DOE wrench
- old wooden box
attachment.php

Left behind a classic mint craftman torque wrench by accident so the $100 didn't go as far as I wanted but I'll go back next weekend to dig some more.

That looks like a Starrett hammer. I believe some suckage is due there for sure Davefr!

Very nice finds you guys.

I had a strange tool weekend. Here's why:

- I went to an estate sale that had a S-K socket set in the photos online. I went late and the set was not in the garage so I figured it sold. When I went down the basement and an S-K green metal box was sitting in a box of scrap metal. I picked it out and it had a $25 price tag in it. I showed the estate people and they were pissed!!! Turns out somebody swiped the whole 1/2" deep well socket set, then ditched the box down there! They gave me the box for free after I offered to buy it. I did buy some other tools there.

- At another sale I found the Williams SUERRENCH . Posted it here:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5795930

- Today I followed up with a vendor buddy of mine. He was supposed to sell me an old "Snap On" socket set he bought at an auction 30 years ago and never used. The thing that had me concerned was he said it came in a green box and I knew that wasn't right. Sure enough I got to his house and he pulls out an S-K box. I thought Well, that's not so bad. Then.........he opens the box and it's a full 1/2" Taiwan no name set in the S-K case :sad::sad: :lol_hitti so I passed.

He gave me these two tool boxes free that he was about to scrap. The box is Craftsman and okay, the chest is Astro and pretty beat.

Last week's finds pictured after that. Carter Carb manual from a yard sale and $6 worth of tools from a 50% off estate sale

Long Cman extension, another Walden socket driver, misc screwdrivers and sockets, Globemaster Spain 3/8 ratchet, unknown Japan 1/4 ratchet, old Craftsman ball peen.

Did they take the sockets out to buy them cheaper or did they just steal them? Someone took the craftsman breaker bar out of a craftsman 1/2 set i bought because it was $28 but other tools were $1 each so they cherry picked the set.

Did they take the sockets out to buy them cheaper or did they just steal them? Someone took the craftsman breaker bar out of a craftsman 1/2 set i bought because it was $28 but other tools were $1 each so they cherry picked the set.

Supposedly they just straight up stole them. Must have stuffed their pockets or purse with about 9 or 10 deep well sockets. :headshake

It probably happens all the time at these sales. Those sk sets with the cases are very cool and i just picked up a sk wayne 3/8 metric set yesterday for $25. But the case is what makes the set what it is. You can find sk sockets pretty easily at sales for a dollar a piece but you don't find the complete sets with the medal cases.

We went to a Flea Market today down towards the Jersey Shore. It's mostly "old stuff" which is what I prefer.

The wife saw a sign she wanted at the "Sign Guys" booth. She's gonna put it up in her office at work.

We found this mostly mangled Pepsi sign/thermometer with no thermometer in it. Is there a source for replacement thermometers?

I found top to bottom - A Peterson Vise Grip that needs a tiny bit of love, a pair of small Klein Lineman's pliers and a LS Starrett ruler marked "Property of Western Electric Corporation".

3baygarage,

Some thieves definitely attend the local sales. Last year I went to pro estate sale with lots of tools in the basement. It was the second day but there was a nice 3/4 drive socket set in the basement complete except the folks said someone walked off with the ratchet. Don't remember the brand but it was USA made.

That evening I am surfing the Craigslist ads for tools and what do I see but that same brand 3/4 drive ratchet listed. Now 3/4 drive ratchets are practically never listed from what I can see so I am pretty sure it was the one stolen from the sale. I had half a mind to fawk with the person listing it but it was gone pretty quickly and at a not so great price. Wonder if the folks saw it on Craigslist.

Also some nice pick-ups this weekend, always like the Vulcan stuff, Those S-K socket sets turn up quite often so there is always next time.

Just saw the Urrea metric stubby set, very nice.

Everything was $1/ea except the items with a price tag. The little knife is a Case and chuck is an Albrecht. The little clamp is interesting.

I just Picked one up today too, I thought it felt like a nice chuck I just didn't realize it was $400 nice :p
Depending where you are located of course, up here in Canada the industrial suppliers price them around $400 typically. Those and the rohm spiro chucks are the best keyless chucks out there.
