U and lugz both!
And we're Blackhawk guys! Those danged 'tweeners. It's just not the way the mind works. I looked at the model number, knew it wasn't a 3/8-inch drive model number, puzzled over it, and still didn't think about the danged Nuggets until after I posted.

Did that lot of thirteen have a 31522 11/16" in it, Sonny? If not, you can have mine.

At least you looked at the numbers. I just eyeballed the bottom of one of the large sockets and decided they were 3/8ths by the size. I guess that's what happens when I'm allowed out before having coffee. :)

This set does not have an 11/16ths. I would be happy to rehome the one you've offered up. I will PM my contact info to you. Thanks!!!

I picked this Blackhawk box up this morning. It has been repainted and probably missing a tray or two. Its made of super heavy duty steel and has four small rollers underneath (not sure why) but it adds to the uniqueness of the box. I love seeing everyone’s cool Blackhawk tools. Keep the pictures coming!

That's a 1927-1931 "R" case for the No. 70RD set, which Blackhawk branded the "Treasure Chest." It came with ball bearing casters spot-welded on the bottom. Should be 23-1/2" x 11" x 8-3/4". If that brass name plate is located center front on the lid, just above the hasp, that's original, too. They shipped them to customers that way.

Fantastic find.

See page 12 in the 1930 catalog on Tools Archive for more.

Thank you for the excellent info Private! Yes, you are correct about the location of the name tag. That kind of information you provided is what makes this site so awesome and addictive.

You're right about that! :)

Credit to twertsy for his 'open library' philosophy, for his time and effort to scan the catalogs, and to him and all the other contributing collectors who are temporarily loaning him their catalogs to be scanned so that everyone could benefit from the information they contain.

Here is one with the tray, along with a pic of the ball bearing wheel

Thank you Craftsman. I cleaned lightly and applied several thin coats of BLO for preservation. It came with 3 vise like attachments mounted on the top edges for the Blackhawk tools. Incredibly the 2ribbed rubber mats that lay on the work surfaces were in good shape.

...wife when she saw it “that would be great to hold booze in our dining room”
All kidding aside, they do look like an art deco serving cart. And back to kidding, you could probably eat pastries off of don long's it's so clean! Check it out! Link to photo earlier in this thread, here.

If you didn't know and couldn't tell from the replies above, SAA4, they are not common. I've been hoping to run into a Porto-Power cart, any variation (shelves, no shelves, doors, no doors, handles, no handles, etc) for years. The only carts I have ever seen were right here on GJ, and those are less than a dozen over the years.

If you search on Porto-Power (and Porta-Power, and Port-a-Power... for the guys who aren't particular about the correct spelling), you'll find some others. But not too many!

I have a few other links saved...

And here is CRTDI's cabinet.

Speaking of Blackhawk collectors from way back, anyone seen Lump or Bull lately?

Thank you for the words fellas. The only 2 Blackhawk pcs I’ve seen in the wild are the cart and the jack. I was fortunate and was given this 4120 today. I know it’s not much- but man is it stout.

That's a pretty custom looking wrench. I don't come across many blackhawk wrenches. I do have these obstruction wrenches marked armstrong blackhawk, but I think they were made by armstrong.

Double Offset Connecting Rod Wrench, for Ford. Nice picture on page 29 of Catalog No. 326 (1926), which can be found on Tools Archive.

If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, you guys would really be outta luck. (In other words, hie thy self over to Tools Archive, register (it is free), and hundreds of vintage catalogs are right there at your fingertips!) It is easily the best resource on the internet for the vintage tool collector. When I find something I don't recognize or can't date off the top of my head, it's my first stop.

I always imagine you going into the subterranean vaults of the Lugzonian before hitting Tool Archives.

 I only wish it was that well lit! It's in the basement of a house built in 1873. Brick foundation. Four small windows, two on either side of the house. Lighting is an ongoing issue.

Well, stay away from buses Nutz- registration isn’t working now.
Haha. Will do. EDIT: Cool wrench, by the way. They made at least thirty or more unique wrenches with shanks and bends and sockets all designed for one specific application on one specific car (Buick, Dodge, Ford, Overland, etc). All hand forged or welded. I have a few from that era, to include the 4-way lug wrench.

I go to Tool Archives extremely frequently and consult the catalogs often. Twertsy is very responsive to registration issues and will get you set up quickly if you send him a PM or email. Once registered there is a wealth of information at your disposal and an excellent opportunity to upload your tool finds to add to the general knowledge base. Alloy Artifacts is useful as well but contains misinformation and offers no interaction or corrections whatsoever.

I came across a unique situation at a city wide garage sale. The top of the box had a set of FORD aluminum valve covers it had 3 different prices for them. So I asked the guy how much? he said $5.00, I said each or for both. He said I'll take $5.00 for the whole box with the grease gun and attachments that are in the bottom of the box. I paid up and took the box to the car, I didn't look in the box cause I got what I wanted.
I'll show you later what was in the bottom of the box, I have to take pictures then download them. I was surprised to say the least. We will be right back after some sponsor advertising....:bounce:
