Maybe they got tired of price protection requests, so they instead issued a coupon code this time.

I did do that, but the price was the same for lowest, average, & highest, so I thought it may only track the time period I was subscribed. Maybe the item has never change price. It's a Schwaben 5" Round Funnel With 24" Flexible Neck. Just trying to find more oddball items I could use in the future.

$16.19 with the FIREWORK code. Tempting, seems like that would be better than the plastic one I use for Transmission fluid.

Anybody know the Country of Origin of Schwaben? Germany, Eastern Europe, or China with a "German" sounding name.

I started looking at their products after seeing a multi-position oil wrench from them, and liked the sound of their name :lol_hitti

Does any one know of any other manufacturers that has the more odd-ball products through Sears?

I'm stocked on Knipex, Bully Tools, Wera, and of course plenty of Cman. Almost got this Superior Tools 1-1/2 wrench, until I figured out that is the pipe size (not the nut)

While it might have originally been German, the couple of Schwaben tools I've bought all had "China" as COO.

To be fair, the ones I can recall buying (1/4"-3/8" Drive Stubby Ratchet, Trim Removal Tool Set) have been fine.

They also seem to be ESC Tuning's "house brand".

The $10 in vehicle pickup offer is back. As well as 100% back on $125 over a year. $10 per month.

You could try OTC, Astro Pneumatic, Klein, Greenlee, Lisle, Gearwrench, EZ Red, KD Tools, Crescent, Irwin, Vim, Wilha, Kastar, General Tools & Instruments, Fowler... and I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty.

What you can also do is search for a type of tool... then click on the "Sears Only" tab (so you exclude "Marketplace" sellers")... then look at "Refine Your Search" on the left... and scroll through all the manufacturers under "Brand".

Sears actually drop-ships a whole lot of different brands.

Thanks. I forgot about VIM. I already have plenty of GearWrench & Irwin, though would get more if I don't have it. I do have a couple Lisle items bookmarked. I do only look at Sears, but I like the suggestion of just looking at the brands in the filter section.

Grip-On clamps, Witte Screwdrivers, and Channellock pliers. Also, lots of decent brands of hammers.

The pickings are starting to get slimmer now. I guess some of the vendors are getting worried about getting paid or something.

I blew a bunch of points on welding clamps. They have vice grip and another brand (forgot the name) which is the OEM for Snap-On's... Just an idea if someone has some points to spend and can't think of anything.

I hope this doesn't become the norm, because using a coupon code online means no combining with other coupons/offers, and also no in-store price matching at time of purchase.

It seems the $30 back on clothing, and the $125 back stack. I have a pair of coveralls, and assorted hand tools in an order for $125.84, and it shows I will receive $156.26 back in points. Keeping in mind that the $125 will be in installments, so do with that what you will.

I meant to post this in the Points thread, if a Mod wants to delete this one that's cool.

I don't see it anywhere that the $125 will be installments. Where are you guys seeing that?

There are 2 seperate $125 back offers. One specific to tools which is you get it all back right away. The other is on any items.

Whats more interesting is that the $125 back on $125 tools, appears to be stacking with the $50 on $125 in tool. I just ordered a router and used points and a $10 of $40 to bring it down to $125 I'm getting $176.64 back in points, with 30 days to use them. I don't think that'll be much of a burden to use.

Hmm. Thinking about getting these. I only have a small 6 point socket set at the moment. What do you guys think?

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-176-pc-easy-read-socket-set-6/p-00934032000P

There's been some mixed opinions for years regarding how 'easy to read' and durable the Craftsman "easy-read" socket markings actually are, even when new, vs old-fashioned stamped/molded-in markings. And if you let the finish wear off and rust take over, on these, your markings are gone. If you're okay with their readability and plan to keep them in good shape, it's a nice deal with the pile of points you'd get back on that set currently (if you don't use coupons/offers/points to lower your pre-tax OOP below $125; the points will be spread over the next 12 months). You'll need to use some of those points back on socket holders, and a toolbox to put them in if you don't have something suitable already, since that set just comes as some plastic bags full of sockets in a cardboard box.

I'm not aware of any of the regulars here bothering with Sears gift cards much, but a note for reference just in case, there is a report on SD this morning that the maximum number of gift cards that can be used on one Sears order has now been reduced from the previous limit of 15 per order, to 4.

Thanks!!! $176 coming back in points on $133 out of pocket.

Dealing with SYW this morning, they have disappeared the $125 offer specific to tools, all they can now find is the $125 in installments...I've got screen captures and am working on the issue as I'm typing. I'll keep anyone updated, and I can provide you the screen shots if needed to help fight your case. I only ordered because it was instant points back, I've got no interest is installments over the next year, especially since there won't be a Sears left near me...

I currently have a $128 item in my cart. It is showing I will get $176 back in points. Is this right or is something messed up with Sears?

I wasn't sure what offer applied to my order. I ordered stuff shipped so no points yet. I wouldn't be too disappointed if it was installments though instant would be better.
Thanks for the leg work.

Hmm. I plan to put them in my big Snap-On box. I was thinking of making some custom socket holders on a 3D printer. I would make them fit the width/depth of my toolbox and have 3D embossed labels on the socket holders so not too worried about the sockets getting worn. Also, I am just a weekend warrior, so they won't get that much use. I will definitely keep them safe and dry.

That's the combination of the 2 current overlapping offers (one ending this Sat), that I posted the terms of this morning. :) And if you place the order for store pickup and manage to successfully do the in-vehicle pickup, you'll get an extra $10 on top of that.

Isn't that the truth. Last time it didn't work I walked in grabbed a manager and they handed me 10 dollars worth of coupons for in store use.

A lot of people aren't fans of the easy-read, because they really aren't that easy to read... But they do have the regular stampings on them too...

Seems like a pretty complete set. I would look over the sizes and make sure it's not skipping any that you need, otherwise you'll have to buy those individually.

----------

On a different note, my order of welding clamps came in. I ordered 3 of a particular size/style... What does Sears do? One is correct, the other two are a different style... *rolleyes*

Chatted with customer service, he placed a new order for me for the two clamps at no charge, hopefully they will ship the right ones. They didn't want me to ship the wrong ones back... So a little freebie for me!

Oh, that's nice, I haven't looked at them closely enough myself to have seen that. [Edit: Ah, so that was a recent change to add the stampings back on - finally got too many complaints about the 'easy-read' markings having problems, I guess.]

Wow, you lucked out there! Meanwhile someone on SD just reported a much worse result in a similar situation:

"I received the wrong item, and I wanted to reorder using the points and credit card that I had on the first order. It's 10 days out now... and, nothing. Chat, just tells me it'll be a few more days. They give me a completely different story each time. This is only a $20 item [as part of a larger order]... Plus, I find it crazy that they are crediting me back in mostly points, when I paid for this add on item, almost entirely on a credit card ..."

The inconsistency in situations like this is getting ridiculous, Sears. :headscrat

Boy man you've got it good. I had 7 within about 30-35 miles of me, and by the end of the summer there will be 1, that I've never been to.

The only 2 corporate stores my area has ever had are still hanging on, fingers crossed. There's one close to me, and one half an hour or so away, that I've occasionally been to when I had work-related reasons to be in that area anyway. The next-closest corporate store is over an hour away. There's also a franchise store something like 45 minutes away.

Yeah over a small time frame when they first came out they did the easy-read markings only. I found a set like that but turned around and sold them pretty quick. I don't know when they came out with that laser etching... 90's? Early 00's?

Do those stores have an electronics department?

There was a story earlier this year about Sears making a return to electronics, but all the full-line stores I've visited since then have not regained that department.

Supposedly some stores never lost that department, but I've read that even those have slowly become dominated by Brand X names.
