Extra 15 no longer works for the toolbox, +1 item trick.

35mastr, was that the last box in Santa Clara? I'm trying to decide which HF I need to go to.

Are you local? I have another print out if you need it.
The Santa Clara Store is out. I wanted 2 at this deal but the guy in front of me bought a top and bottom. So I just got the last bottom roller.

I would avoid the Newark store unless you pay at Santa Clara store as they are very savy about bar codes and doing everything by the book.

Let me know.

I just moved from Truckee down to Dublin. I appreciate the offer on the print out but I grabbed one out of the Concord store this afternoon.

Wasn't quite the $271.99 like this thread started out as but it was a good deal none the less (I used the 29197902 code).

Picked up two of the 13 drawers cabinets at $339.99 price(one yesterday and one today). Used the EXTRA15 code on there website and the store matched the price, with manager approval. Too bad I didn't move faster on the Shop20 coupon code, I would have saved an extra $20 on each cabinet. Thanks guys.

I was able to get one for $339 as well. No problem at the Gaithersburg MD. store. As an aside-I used my MaxJax to get it off the truck. :lol_hitti

this seems to be on sale every week for $359.... they need to make this their regular price and "then" put it on sale occasionally for... say $299.00

What is the deal with the top and sides for the black cabinet? I have the top but it and the sides (that I'd like) don't show up on the website?

I suppose I could buy the red and respray it, but I'd be annoyed if I found out the black is coming back soon.

Anybody have any problems with drawers not locking I just pick top and bottom. One of the drawers on the top dosent seem to lock, I haven't been able to pull drawer out to check. I figured I would ask first.

Doesn't lock when you push it in? I've had that after swapping drawers. Try pulling the drawer out and then pushing the bumpers on the back of the rails at the back of the cabinet towards the outside of the cabinet. A couple of mine had worked their way out and were blocking the drawer from closing all the way.

Looks like they are asking 369 now, im glad i picked my 2 up when they were 270 something.

Though, i do want to pick up 2 of the side mounted boxes, but they went 200 a piece for them, bummer!

here are my two now.... garage is not finished at all, they will eventually be under a table top.

Thanks I'll try that in the morning when I get to work. It's only 1 drawer that does it hopefully I don't have to pull the drawer all the way off

How do these units come when you pick it up? Boxed up? Or fully assembled? Just cardboard on the corners and shrink wrapped? Think one would fit in a Yukon with the seats down/out? I'd love to get one buy not sure how I would get it home. $100 to ship is a little steep compared to the unit price.

Mine came fully assembled, with some styrofoam padding in a cardboard box, inside a rather flimsy shipping crate. It didn't fit in my WRX (1" too wide!), but fit a Ford Expedition fine. I'm sure it'd fit in a Yukon. At the store they loaded it up, but at home you probably want someone to lend a hand to help unload, it's rather heavy and awkward.

Hmmm, it would fit in the back of an Expedition. Wonder it it would go in the back of my Landcruiser?

Uncrate if first when you are unloading.

The crate itself is a TERRIBLE handle.

Well got the drawer to finally lock had to take the drawer out and rebend the back part that actually hooks/locks the drawer other than that I have no other complaints about the boxes. In fact I think one other tech is actually looking to get he set to

Any of our friendly folks inside HF have any idea about the availability of the black boxes? Thanks.

Know someone that works at my local harbor freight, and they told me that at least for our region, they never carry the black box in the store.

Has anyone seen the black box? Is it smooth glossy black or crinkle black?

How about the red ones people are getting now -- are they crinkle red, or are they are smooth glossy red? I thought I had read somewhere that the new ones are smooth glossy red and the old ones are crinkle red?

So what's the best feature about these?

I'm considering picking one up for the simple fact that it's the only 40" box I can find with a deep, full width top drawer... that doesn't cost $$$$$$.

Is the full width drawer as awesome as I'm hoping?

Please don't suggest I wait on Craigslist for a used Snap-on. Around here, 40" boxes don't come up that often and they almost always come up "loaded with tools" - $5k.

I have a set. They've been special order for as long as I know. But the SKUS for the top and side cabinets no longer work.

The black ones are crinkle black.

I have had both the top and the bottom for over a year now and it they are performing perfectly. I have tons of weight in the drawers and they slide with ease. I would recommend the top and bottom from this set to anyone.

.

Good features are heavy duty drawer slides, serious casters for rolling and the fact that you can put together a stacked unit with all the bells and whistles.

The only down side I can see is that some of the really expensive units are deeper and have more drawer depth, and that there are only a few tall drawers. For most mechanics tools this is fine, but you should really look at what you have and decide if they are for you.

The only fault I could find is the craftsman socket organizer sheets don't fit. I had to saw off about 1/4" to make them fit. Took 2 minutes.

That looks like it's the 'gloss' not-so-pink finish? Or is it the photo.

I'll merge this into the main thread.

Yeah that looks great. Brand new I assume? I like that finish a lot. (Well what it appears to be anyway -- gloss/smooth red).

Have any of you fellow HF toolbox owners figured out how to keep the white and clear plastic inserts in the drawer handles? They seem like a nice touch for labeling the drawers, but they keep sliding around and popping out of the ends of the handles. Am I missing something obvious?:headscrat

Nope, you're not missing anything. They're a neat idea that was poorly executed. I got tired of mine sliding out and just threw them out. If I ever decided to label my drawers, I'd just use stick-on labels from a label maker and stick 'em right in that groove on the handle.

I never had a need for drawer labels and wont use these, but the drawer pulls sliding around are not cool. If one slides and you dont notice, you will scratch the box. I will probably peen the ends.

Rich what I did was covered my drawer handle inserts with clear packing tape threw the clear ones away and then put some dubble sided tape to hold it in place.

I don't know if I will use the labels but you could take some double sided tape and put under them to hold them in place

Easy. I came up with two solutions.

First, just used ordinary scotch tape on the ends to hold the clear top in place.

That was a bit of a pain as I'm still shifting tools and labels around, so I came up with the next solution: Business cards. I cut them down to 1/4" wide by just double the height of the slot, fold the strip in half, and stick one behind each end of the strip. They act like wedges and the inserts will not slide out now unless I want them to.

I use my Brother 1/2" strip label maker to make the labels, but I don't peel the backing off. I just slide them in between the white backing and clear front. Looks great and can be changed on a whim.
