O.K. folks, here's the situation fom a "foreign" perspective.
I'm British, and live in the U.K. I'm a third generation mechanic and generally try to buy the best tools I can. Tools are fairly unique, however, in that you can't always determine the quality till you've owned them for a decade or two! The best single indication of quality is the Country of Origin.
U.S. made tools cost an awful lot in the U.K. and always have (my Grandfather spent a small fortune buying Blackhawk in the 1930's) but I don't mind, partly because I'm getting the best, but also because U.S. companies and workers supported the U.K. when we really needed it during the war. I still have the "lend lease" tools to prove it!
All of this "we don't put U.S.A. on our tools for the global market" is complete bull! If I'm paying 'top dollar' for tools from an American company, I expect them to be made from American steel, in an American factory, by Americans and have "Made in U.S.A." stamped on them to prove it'! Anything else is at best a total misunderstanding of the customer and at worst a fraud!
The idiots who make these decisions have already flushed many top British brands down the toilet! I hope the readers of this forum won't allow the to do the same with the U.S. ones!
Rant over! Back to the tools!
