After all the great posts in the Crown Top thread, it was only logical for me to start a Heritage logo thread. I know you guys have lots of early Craftsman, you're the ones that inspired me to search out older style tools!

I'll kick it off with a couple more recent scores of these two cantilever boxes.

This is one of the first Heritage logo things I fell in love with, a 12x36 lathe I picked up and refurbed last year.
pic02544.jpg

Since finding the lathe, I have sold/swapped out my other machines for Heritage logo machines as I find them. Here is a model 100 DP that just got refurbed.

I may run out of film in my digital camera. :lol_hitti

:spit: :lol_hitti

This is a larger top box that had three drawers seriously rusted bottoms. It's destined to be repurposed as something, just waiting on the right thing to come along..

Here are a few of my boxes, I'll post up more when I get pictures of the chest I scored for cheap off CL last week
The blue chest was purchased new by my grandpa, I remember it in his garage in East Los Angeles when I was growing up.

O yes, this is my favorite craftsman logo. I shall start with this bad boy, a late 40's carpenter's box.

What is the era of this particular logo??

There is a guy at the local flea market with a pristine carpenter`s box just like the one in post #6 above. In fact, it looks SO good, I'm thinking it must be a anniversary reproduction-if there was such a thing.

Been thinking about making the guy an offer on it- he has it full of junk tools he sells for a buck or two.

So it's called a "Heritage" logo, eh? :D I did not know that. My favorite Cman era/logo, also.

I have a few other items I don't have pics of.

I'd really like to see that. The one I have is the oldest one I have ever seen. Took me quite a while to figure it out. The logo I think is from ~mid to late 40's to the later 50's, towards the end of 50's into the early 60's they transitioned to the crown top logo. It's a bit challenging to put an exact date to it as craftsman mixed and matched a bit. Especially between this logo and the crown top switch.

I think you are correct in that craftsman has decided to bring back this logo as a retro style. I remember seeing something like that, but I don't think it was a carpenters box. If it is the bluish color like mine I'd say it is original from the late 40's

This box at the local flea market has the grey hammer tone finish- but with the "heritage" logo.

Saw it yesterday and today both.

On some level was hoping someone here could verify if this could be a reproduction

O, I thought it was blue. If it is a grey ish silver hammertoe it is from the 50's or possibly a reproduction, I didn't know they made reproduction carpenters boxes. Are you sure it was a carpenters box?

OK, here's my first one. It's a 12" disk sander in power bronze. mod 109.22370. The logo is a sticker, not a badge. It's currently in pieces awaiting restoration. The motor (115.6962) has been rewired, re-lubed, and a new matching switch was ordered direct from China (OCD, I couldn't find an exact match online anywhere else). I tried to rebuild the old switch, but the innards were too toasted to work.

I'm still looking for a rattle can paint that will match the Cman Power Bronze. I'd rather not use hammertone if I can help it, and gold isn't quite right. Any ideas ?

It's probably a standard mid 50's carpenters box. When you said "just like" I thought you actually meant it was just like the one I pictured, only in better condition. They made a few revisions through the years. The first ones were blue, smooth face. Then grey smooth face, finally grey with 3 ridges on the front. They also changed how the tray mounted via bolted then welded supports.

Here's another stickered Heritage logo tool. Its a 1950(ish) 18" scroll saw (mod# 103.23151). I still haven't gotten around to mounting the motor yet.

Sorry-"just like" as in same dimensions, handles on side, etc. But definitely hammer tone, definitely that logo, definitely in great shape.

slightly offended that you didn't message that this thread was started  jk.

Let's see... where to begin...

null_zpsdbf6c43c.jpg
null_zpsccc5996f.jpg
These two machinist chest's are up next for a quick refurb. One is older than the other, as the one has the old bent metal slides, while the other has real tool box drawer slides...

this ugly green box will be refurbed when i'm done refurbing the stuff in the spot that it'll go into:

It's older brother has already mostly been refurbed... just wet sanded and two coats of poly. Still need to do the cover and want to spray rubber undercoating in the bottom section after i get 8 new casters for the pair.

Good stuff Rick, I saw the name Heritage logo on sears site, offering stickers, hats and apparel with this logo. The older logo may be referred to as "Long C" logo? :dunno:

I figured, kinda want the t-shirt myself, lol

Long C, CMan Underline logo, 30's style, pre-war logo... something will stick eventually.

I've always thought that the heritage logo might be the inspiration for the GJ logo.

This is my haul from a garage sale this weekend. After I sold off the 2 Jacobs (#4's) chucks I also picked up this group of tools didn't cost a dime.

Don't have a close up on the palm sander - but that's the heritage logo. Then just a lot of nice NOS later stuff, chisels, punches, dunlap punches. The wrenches in the back are all offset DBE Underline C Vanadium series. The hacksaw is also vintage cman as well as the mint in box, never assembled, pipe vise #1 (which looks like a williams/vulcan vise).

Back to the Heritage - I've never seen a palm sander this early. It runs great but the cord is shot. I'll be putting a new one on shortly.

Have a few of the more common items -- bench top drill press, a couple of 3.5 in. bench vises (only include pictures of one), and a machinist chest in pretty nice, original condition. Chest is as bought as I haven't really taken the time to clean it up. Even got the keys with it.

Here's a hacksaw I picked up at a sale last summer to replace the flimsy POS that I've been suffering with for years.

The handle is made from Bakalite, or something similar, and painted Cman blue.

Cool torch, PECVD2. Is it refillable and what is up with the word Gasoline on it? It's not a gasoline torch is it? :scared:

Stephen and mcmlvif100, I am real jealous of those nice tools!!

Jake, I have a hacksaw just like that and one with the crown logo, heavy duty!

Yes sir, I'm surprised you haven't been acquainted with one yet. You really should run white gas like for camping equipment in them, but regular gas will work. Between the open pool of lit gas for preheat, the pressurized gas in a metal container and roaring flame, they are not for the faint of heart or those that observe OSHA regs. That is a tiny one, they come much, much larger. :FIREdevil

I have that same pipe clamp! though I ripped mine off a work bench, mind taking more pics of it?

I'll try to snap some tonight. It's awesome that it's in such original condition. Still has the sears roebuck and co price tag on the box for like 6.98 or something.

Such logos are rare in Canada as they date from when Sears entered the Canadian marketplace...

Here's a very nice cantilever box I found in Waterloo last year:

Thanks to this thread... I delayed one project to do this quick one. Plans are to scrub it down, compound, polish, done. Keep the rust, slight dents, etc. But for the life of me, can't figure out how to get the drawers out!
