It would seem that Harbor freight has decided to give the 44" and 56" a big brother...:scared::scared::scared:

I looked, but didn't find any other threads on this, so, here goes...

Item#.....61656
Price.......$ 1,499.99
Wt..........528 lbs
Depth.....22 5/16"

Wonder how long before the top box comes out???:drool::drool:

Finally---a long top drawer...

That price seems about $ 400.00 high to me...

Finally something deeper than 18". That's my main complaint about my 44" chest and top box, to shallow. If they build it similar to the others adding center casters shouldn't be a big deal. I used a jack and up-ended my 44" and had to add washers to level it. Now it's great. Price does seem a bit steep, they're probably building in room to discount hopefully!

What I really wish they'd come out with are middle boxes with 2 full length drawers

The 56" is 22" deep as well

At that price, they definitely are going to put out coupons. It'd be the same cost as TWO 56"

I was just looking at it...and thought where the heck would I put that. Then I realized I am not that far off on floor space as I have a 26" and a 42" now. Haha

IMHO your likely going to have in increase in drawer depth of your current boxes which in itself is a huge upgrade, even if they were the same width.

I still like the menards masterforce 72" better. They go on sale for a few hundo less then the HF price, and are available in colors other than red, have grip latch system as well.

I don't get the math here, so 10 drawers at 100# and 3 drawers with double slides (200# each) makes a 2,600# capacity?

I'm thinking those bigger drawers are going to be real easy to overload. The long single drawers are going to be worse.

I see 4, possibly 5 drawers that are double slide.

edit: There are up to 10 that could be double slide, based on depth (was looking at the wrong box).

How did you come up with 13 drawers on a 15 drawer box though?

It appears that they are a little different than the older model they use to carry. Apparently the old box was deeper.Wonder if the new one is a typo or just a different box.It would be sweet if it were 30" deep.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45628

Other places like Northern carried that box too. I'm pretty sure they still they still do. HF never seem to push that box, never in stores to my knowledge and buried in the website. This new box looks to be extended version of the 56"er.

The top work surface on the box has a weight rating that's added in. That's how they come up with the big numbers.

Actually depth in my world is bad, though a couple inches shouldn't hurt. The boxes are at front of the garage, no room on the sides.

I am sure this is a great box like the rest of the us general line. With tax to my door is $1700 ish. Not bad but I have seen a ton of 3 bay snap on's locally asking 2k. I would be inclined to grab the snap on used for around the same money. If this was priced at 1k-1200 ish I think it would be a no brainer.

Maybe a coupon deal would make the difference along with store pick up to avoid another $80. The used market is saturated with snap on fire sales near me. This is coming from someone with the 44", 56", and cart

Question is what is the comparison between the 72" and the 56"? I'm talking about spec wise like is the extra money between them worth it? Or is it better buy to get the 56"? How much more space does the 72" have? Any difference in length in drawers? Thanks

The 72" is basically a 56" with a side cab. The added bonus is the long top drawer which should be 50" wide or so.

I like it but to me its pretty much the same as the 56 and a 7 drawer end cab minus one....I like the full length top drawer but how much more space does that give you over the top two drawers on the 56

Hmm I just ordered an 72" Extreme Tools for almost double the price. Hopefully the Extreme tools will be better quality, it does come with a stainless top as well..

According to the manual the top drawer is 52 ''. the drawer depths are the same as the 56'' box. it is currently listed at 1299.99 on the website. seems like a pretty good buy at that price.

I am totally interested in one and it would replace my HF 56. I wonder if it has the spot for the extra castors in the middle.

I have the 56 HF. I think the 72" Masterforce from Menards is a better deal than the 72" HF. There are three long drawers instead of one, it's 24" deep instead of 22", there are more color choices and they sell various tops for a good price.

I know the board would like a review, and photos, on the Extreme, then we could compare the two boxes...

I think I like the drawer configuration better than the MasterForce 72 which is $1499… or 11-22% off :)

And the frame/casters for everything, i.e. the top and side cabinets.
