Those frankensteins date to the 50s, 60s, and maybe 70s I believe. As for the OEM, my understanding is it's still undetermined. They are found with many different brand names, including, but not limited to, G.M. Co., as 4.c alluded to. Also Mechanicraft, Wright, even a Berylco version, and tons of unmarked Japanese import economy sets. On some, the whole head unscrews.

EDIT: If you search GJ VB on "frankenstein" every prior discussion will come up.

Wright version also relabled for crescent. The elcheapo generic version was just an economy ratchet of oxwall type quality
