1/4in impact sockets? Does anyone use them?

Does anyone actually actively use 1/4in impact sockets? I've been using my Tekton chrome sockets on an impact driver and they're holding up great.

I can't help but laugh when I hear the word 1/4in and impact in the same sentence. I know only a handful manufacturers make them too.

I don't see the need for impact sockets on fasteners with such low torque.

Thoughts?

That interesting question might be better asked in the general tool forum. I doubt that your Tekton sockets and impact driver would be considered vintage.

My take is that cordless and pneumatic ratchets will never cause chrome loss on 1/4” sockets…but, cordless and pneumatic 1/4” impact wrenches will cause chrome loss on occasion.

It is more likely to happen to certain brands, in my experience. I find that SK Wayne chrome is very easy to damage.
