Good pair of slip joint pliers. Mine are old CeeTees. Use them for light prying, moving hot metal, hammering small stuff, opening the stove door, tightening things, loosening others, cutting wire, twisting wire, dozens of things. I wear mine in a belt holster.

My dad has had a pair of pliers on his belt for as long as I can remember...
Im more into knives... lots of knives...

so... seems a multi-tool would cover us both...:thumbup:

Multi-tool. I carry a Leatherman Wave at all times. Been carrying some type of Leatherman for better than 20 years. Use it multiple times a day every day.:thumbup:

I guess if it was only one tool you could own, then a leatherman would make sense.

If it's one tool that everyone needs but not everyone has, I'd put a cordless impact driver on the list - probably one of the best new tools in the past 15 years.
