That's pretty awesome, however was just a general question. Me and some friends were asking what we would do with two hundred to upgrade a computer, I thought it could be fun to see what people would do with less on tools. I've got some awesome answers so far. Lol

The first thing that springs to mind is to find a NAPA Real Deals flyer and pick up whatever sockets they have on special that I need.

Or a Snap On F80. Or a couple of Proto Facom design ratchets.

Or some PB Swiss drivers.

probably some assorted rolls/types of sandpapers. they always add up quick and I hate buying it because i'm a cheap ***.

or several sets of allen keys, i'm awful at putting them back in their slots and as a result I have probably atleast 10 incomplete sets floating around the shop. few more sets will keep me busy for a bit while losing them.

If it was me specifically then it would have to be sockets and wrenches to fill in gaps in my sets. For general just need to spend $100 it would be Gearwrench 20 piece ratchet wrench set at Sears for $50 and some HF Pittsburgh Pro screwdrivers and maybe some HF impact sockets.

I only try to get tools that expand my capability, not duplicates of what I already have. That doesn't happen often, I have most everything I can think of. But I expanded my capability a bit today, and answered that $100 question, although I traded a nice SK wrench set instead of cash:

I get a random extra $100 or so to spend pretty much once or sometimes twice a year. I know most folks nowadays use cards but I have always used cash - if it isn't in my wallet , I don't spend it ( at least most times ) . I keep all my change in a drawer in my toolbox, don't spend it at the time and empty it once a year -or sooner if it is looking full !
I will use this cash to buy a tool that I really want , whether I need it or not , or just sometimes I will buy all the sandpaper or other consumables I think I might need in the near future. Just to stay OT : I just spent my most recent cash on a Wera 1/2" drive ratchet handle

Responsibly, 1/4 sockets. Have to pull out my old craftsman mechanic tool set for them and it's annoying.

Well in the original op post he said a hundred dollars to buy tools! So i posted i would put it back until i really needed something.then ive read over these a few times and seen some sensible thoughts but for the life of me.why in the world would anyone take any amount of money and set foot in harbor freight?i mean the way i understood it the hundred dollars is like extra or free.wouldn't you want to buy a decent set of sk or gear wrench? I understand working and all and guys on a budget buying some necessary tools at harbor freight.but not if its free money unless i took the op s post wrong.

There has been some amazing ideas here. I always love to see variety in all things.

I have decided to start giving myself atleast 100 a month for tool purchases. That wasn't the point of the thread but seeing what all can be gotten for right around that, I figure why not!

I'd get an Estwing double bit axe and tomahawk for when I go camping/kayaking. I've been looking at them for a while but it's hard to justify the cost of roughly $50 each for something that's most definitely in my "want" column.
