Not much to report other than the trusses have been ordered and should be here this week. I did start PB blasting the old Wilton vice and it seems to be loosening up. Hopefully I'll have pictures of the trusses set by the end of the week.

I decided on metal w/snow catchers. One epoxy company I use makes a pretty good roof coating that I plan on using on the existing rubber roof above the offices. I may even coat the metal with it.

Its starting to take shape. I may soon have 52 feet under roof. Once this section is done I can work on windows, walls, benches etc in this area while the guys tear off and rebuild the other half.

I'm hoping by the end of October, which probably means November, as long as the funds keep coming. I don't really have a choice on the last section of roof. If I don't take it down the first snowstorm will.

I guess I am a little confused. Is the first floor level with the street, and the garage access from the rear? The pictures with your new roof trusses show a scissor lift, so I'm wondering how that got to the second floor :).

2nd floor is level with the front street.

1st floor/basement is level with the rear street.

At least that is what I got out of it.

Awesome potential in old building you're saving.

Wish you well in restoring and hope you'll eventually have viable business in that great space.

If you're a mechanic type, there might be big push for CNG (compressed natural gas) vehicles in PA with the massive NG (natural gas) supply from shale there in PA. Maybe you could have a conversion shop to retrofit cars to become bi-fuel running on both normal gasoline and CNG. Need to plan shop with ventilation, sprinkler system, compressed air system, heating with low cost NG, etc. . . and lots of training for cng technicians/mechanics.

See immediate cost savings by running vehicles on CNG as Pittsburgh, PA has public cng pump at $1.77/gge (gallon of gas equivalent) at 2926 Smallman St in Pittsburgh (EQT CNG Fueling Station). See details at www.cngprices.com

Trash trucks, city buses, and over-the-road trucks are currently converting to cng fleets as majority of all sales. Pickup trucks in OK, TX, UT, etc. also are either dedicated cng or bi-fuel cng/gasoline.

Good luck at turning your building into a gold mine!

Should have used storage trusses. :) Hehe.

Love it, I just love it. I wish I could find something like that here in the NW.

A view from the back. We were going to hip the roof above the back garage door but decided to overhang the trusses to make a small roof over the door.

Wow, good to see this didn't get the typical old building treatment of Arson. We have had too many old mills here in the north east get that treatment for no reason.

Unbelievable, I would kill for that deal (if you see me knocking on your door don't answer).

Did you get a 30 year mortgage? $8.49 a month at 5% and it would be all your in 2042.

How's the neighborhood?

Cash is king!

The neighborhood is great. Small town with a pizza shop and a hardware store. What more could you want? Haha

As far as the weather I'm going to have to ride out the storm as I'm ******* with work.

The roof over hang gives it some character and something a slight be unusual.

I see that you walls are stepped. Will each section of roof sit higher than the next with a vertical wall between them or are you going to keep it one level roof line? The latter, I would think be hard as I see there's a 2nd story stairway and doorway.

The second half of the roof will be stepped above the first. We will find a line that works and chisel the brick to that line. We removed about 3 steps from the first section we did.

I was a bit worried how it would look overhanging the trusses but now I'm glad we did. I think once the soffit/ceiling is up it will tie everything together.

I thought I remembered you taking some of the brick work out and I'm sure it'll look good when you are done. I bet within a day or two, you'll have birds trying to roost under that overhang. lol.

That overhang needs some sort of old school lamp hanging from it to light the area around the garage door. Maybe some other type of eve treatment, but it needs something to make it really stand out and flow with the building and area.

It's really looking great though!
