So, after further observing your photos, what is the black mats you have on all of your work surfaces. I have self created benches too and have been thinking about doing something similar to that but can't find anything I like. Then I saw your close up of your magazines which shows in a quarter of your picture a close up of one of your benches, looks like its a ribbed surface. Fill me in brother! Thanks
they are hallway runners. the ones in the old section are vinyl & i like a lot. the new section has rubber because i couldn't find the vinyl anymore. i thought the rubber would be o.k. but the longer i go the less i like it. i have my eyes peeled for the vinyl to show up sometime. i can get the vinyl with wider ribs but not the narrow that i like.

wow. what a garage. major props. Not that I would consider it a huge problem (with all those vettes) but I bet it takes almost 10 minutes to get the top, inside car out. By the time you back the two bottom ones out, then drop the lift and back out the one you want, and then drive the two other vettes back inside, you've spent 10 minutes just getting your ride out. :p

That answered what I was going to ask (had a major brain fart) I was wondering how the cars got on the back lift without driving over and off of the front lift. I was thinking maybe some type of ramp from one to the other. DOH!!!

well up here i'd go to either Home-Depot or Rona, not sure if you have Rona. maybe Lowe's or Eagle hardware if they are around. as i said before they have kinda dried up for me too in the last five years. i'm not any happier with the rubber ones now than i was before. i'm not hunting like a bloodhound but i've always got my eyes peeled for the good vinyl runner material. i'd switch them out of my new section if i could find them. i have a feeling they will just pop up again one day when i least expect it. can't re-invent the wheel so the manufactuers just cycle things in & out over time. that's my story anyways:beer:

Danged nice build. I saw some blue in the shop and was going to give you a razzing about being a fan of the bad F-word you know, the manufacturer whose logo shows they circled the mistake. As soon as I saw the Vettes I just couldn't, especially after seeing the 80 or newer back bumper on the74-77. Any more pics of it? Does it have the low nose on it to match the rear? I haven't seen one of that year range with the low nose. Thanks for starting this thread.

very nice setup. How high are your ceilings and how much clearance do you have at the ceiling. Also where did you get your template for the zr1 stripes at the top of your wall.

thanks again for all the kind words guys, appreciate it:beer: i didn't start with a clean sheet of paper & undisterbed earth, house was built in 1970, like some on here that i drool over. just did what i could with what i had, space, regulations etc. you know the drill. i can't say too much about the blue oval boys since i build my share of them. my Stingray is a 76 with a fiberglass nose & tail based off of the 1980-1982 design. really changes the car. street legal pump gas deal with a small block i built, naturally asperated non-tubbed, non-trans. brake car. full interior, power windows & such. best so far is 9.11 E.T. @ 151 MPH. works o.k. but a bit more in it yet.

well my old section is standard 8 foot. i'm sure your meaning the new section though, it's a true 10 foot. good clearance. the rear car has tons. the front car because of the operater not as much, still o.k. though. could get more if i turned the car around, nose in, so the operater is above the hood instead of the roof of the car, but i like them facing this way. today i would go for Liftmasters NEW 3800 series side mount operater. wasn't avalible up here yet when i was doing this deal. the ZR-1 logo i had my sign shop i deal with do it. took a little bit but they did a really good job of it. the ZR-1 is a decal & the stripe i painted myself. if anybody wants there is more pictures on the ZR-1.netregistry, forums, website. search-LOGO or WARNING:don't veiw if you don't like red. two threads i started relating to the garage & build up:)

Wow - georgous in it's cleanliness! I can't imagine you do too much dirty work in there!! I'd love to have mine that clean - but the grease and dust and dirt from working on restorations just overwhelmes everthing...any secrets you care to share? It's a great space that combines show and go!

Hey Ryan,
gib the kid from Calgary. Looks good. Very sanitary. All you need is a disco ball and you've got a theme night club.

I'm planning to visit Edmonton's track this year...hope to see you there.

secrets? well i clean three or four times a day. i have a built in vacuum piped into both sections & i wear out attactments, LOL. i work at my own pace on my schedule so when it's time to clean, i clean. i don't do any of my porting, block clearancing or engine painting here. i have another bay for that stuff.

had to go count the lights ha, ha. i have 4 two bulb four footers & 23 two bulb eight footers all with electronic ballests. not 100% sure what you mean regarding cabinets & counter tops? the white cabinets on the walls & one or two beside the sink are from Home-Depot that i built/integraded into my benches. the main benches i built & the black on top is vinyl hallway runner that i cut & glued down. works pretty good. truthfully my 9 second car should be an 8 second car but i have been spending so much time the last couple of years on customer engines that my ride gets pushed to the side. i always want to make sure the customer stuff is done first. thanks for the comments:beer:
