The idea was turn the driveway into.....not a driveway, but a patio area in front of the shop.

In that last picture is that just a bench? I've never seen rock stacked that way but, it's cool looking.

Yes, its a steel frame, filled with river rock, commonly called a gabion wall. they are used a lot for decoration in Arizona. The concrete on top still needs to be acid stained.

AZ Glen- I just wanted to let you know that you have left the story untold. I can tell by the hot rod that you use the machining equipment for hobby, but is your shop for use in a business or hobby only?
Next would be the absence of dimensions for the shop length, width, height? Door dimensions?
Construction type? Just from what I have seen on this website I would guess that the construction type is that of a miracle truss? Do you have any framing pictures?

On another note I am extremely jealous. I can only imagine having that much equipment ready for use at any time. By the way, the hot rod looks like a killer project, and the benches, are those just built out of angle iron and steel mesh?

No problem...I posted a lot of pics during the initial build. it is 2x6 construction, walls are 9'6" high, the trusses are scissor truss, 25x30 is the footprint, the door is 8x14

the bench by the fire pit is made of 2x2 post, the mesh is 1/4" dia., and enclosed using 2x2 posts and boxed using angle iron, then the concrete top was poured in on top.
While it was nice to have a shop, it was nice to keep the wife happy by decorating the back yard and making the driveway more like an extension of the house patio.

Glen I see on your sight El Polacko and the guys did the chassis on your A bone looks good they do great work . They are desighning alot of stuff for Slick 60's Ford trucks right now as well.

Yes, I met Steve probably 8-10 years ago. I made it a point to give him credit for the chassis work, since it is on my website, most people would assume I did that work.

Steve is a member of my truck club Slick 60's and although everybody gives him heck over the engine choice in his unibody ( they are big on ford in a ford ) they still respect how nice his truck has turned out and we even had one member who worked in the HVAC industry who had a mid life crisis and moved across country to go to work with him Dave seems happy as a clam out there doing what he enjoys to pay the bills .I do like your garage by the way and I may end up stealing the bench idea outside that looks sharp.

were still working on the landscaping. I am going to make some palm trees out of steel.
The base of the tree will be made with clusters of rebar tied together vertically, then the leaves of the palm tree will be made using sheets of copper, I plan to cut the leaves with the plasma cutter so they have a rough edge. Once everything is bent up to look natural, it should finish off nice. One between each gas pump.

Glen are you planning to leave the pumps in their natural patina or restore them at some point the palm trees sound kewl as well.

Just let them rust.....the bench will get a nice rust patina as it gets a year on it, and the palm trees will rust also.

No...it cant be the first. More of you guys have to have flat screens. Its a 50" but it looks small in the shop.
