Joe, every time I stop in, the additions and improvements really shine. Santa is riding right on that Dino powred 2018 Super Sleigh. Keep it up. Your town has you as an asset. I hope they continue to appreciate your efforts. Dennis

Saw the Sinclair Dino in the parade on TV this morning. Maybe he can stop by your station on the way back! Some pics I ripped from their Instagram

Joe,

What an awesome job you have done! i have spend the last few days (many hours) reading the thread from start to finish and WOW great work and dedication.

I envy your dedication to the one brand. Since gas memorabilia in Australia is just so hard to find I have decided for my Gas Station/Diner build that I am going to brand it with a unique branding to try and then use reproduction stuff and rebrand it all. It is not going to be as authentic but cheaper and reflect our family. We are going with a step back in to the 1950's design where everything will look brand new so that will make using reproduction stuff easier!

Again thanks for the hard work posting all of this for us to enjoy I know how much extra work that is.

Shane

I seen a post on instagram from Sinclair talking about how Dino is the only life size balloon in the parade at 36 feet tall by 72 feet long. They do pretty neat promotion driving across the county with a Dino in the bed of an F150 ending in NYC at the parade.

Also, I didn't know "sauropod" was a word before today. :D

That makes two of us...guess that lesson in junior high science class didn't stick :dunno:

The sleigh has been well received. It has had a steady stream of visitors of all ages. This Minnesota family pulled up just as I was leaving the station around noon today. I chatted with them a bit before I left. The first two pics are from the moms facebook. The rest are from the daughters IG. Glad to see a 16 year feels the station is Instagram worthy.

I just talked to my sister. She lives in Marshalltown and has been to your place a couple times. She and her husband take rides on their Harley. I told her to say “Hi” from Unruh next time they ride through!

This week was a big week for me...after what seemed like an eternity I finally own a station attendants hat. Who would have ever thought it would be easier to find a 6 foot tall Dinosaur than a little old hat. I think I'm going to find a mannequin to display it on along with the original long sleeve shirt I have. Add a bow tie and a change counter and he'll be ready to go to work.

I also took a chance on a repop porcelain sign from India and honestly for the money paid its better than I expected. The most impressive thing was it made the trip from India to my doorstep in 3 days. Thats right I said 3 days. I wanted a KANOTEX sign to display since that brand of gasoline was sold at the station for over 20 years. It such an obscure regional brand there's not much out there for sale. I like this sign because it matched up with one of the early 1932 ads from the station.

And lastly the local newspaper, The Perry Chief, puts out a calendar every year made from pics submitted by local Perry residents. They ended up using two of my pics. A pic of my gas pumps was used on the inside cover and a pic of one of the downtown sculptures with the Hotel as the backdrop was the other.

Man oh man has it been far too long since checking into your thread joe. I just spent the last 1.5hr getting caught up. You've done such a great job with the place and the collection. Perry owes you a very special thanks and a key to the city as far as I'm concerned!

Another member who has not visited the post in a while. Awesome stuff to say the least!

Really like the display of a mannequin all dressed up in the vintage uniform. Top notch!

Joe, how about a GJ poll to name the new employee?
He looks like he's taking his new responsibilities seriously.

I've been kicking around a name all day. I kept notes of the names of former employees at the station as it has came up in conversion and in newspaper articles.

Some of the names include: Fritz Goretzke, Bobby Johnson, Ted Nath, Percy Brown, Don Nath, Clarence Nath, Roland Parcel, P.A. Sanders.

I don't think he has the personality to pull off a Fritz or a Bobby Johnson, but Clarence or Roland seem in line :dunno:

I like Percy Brown the best out of your selection. That seems suited to his personality. :p

The resemblance is there, go for it. Lol

I’m thinking Fannie Mae would like a Fritz. c563a6ecfe04b41aad513a346d33b480.jpg
Clarence would be a good name. Since he is really good at staring, Gerard would be perfect.

The picture of him standing at the counter reminds me of my dad’s favorite position at our station. The picture at the front door is kinda spooky. Adding motion activated motion to him at door would be fun.

Percy Brown sounds perfect for me. Percy Wetmore was perfect too in the Green line.

I was gonna say Stan also as the perfect gas jockey name but if it's a choice between your two finalists I would vote Roland. He just looks like a Roland more than a Clarence.

What ever his name he is a cool addition to the display.
