The weather has finally decided to cooperate and the work is going to begin on the mural tomorrow. Met with the artist this evening to work out a few details like the sizing and position. The image I went with is from a 1953 Sinclair station calendar. I wanted something that would compliment the era of the station. We are kicking around a few ideas on ways to incorporate Perry Oil into it. Kind of giving it a vintage billboard feel.

I think I have read your entire thread, but I have not seen the one piece of information that I wanted to see. How much do you charge for admission to your museum? Truly awesome collection - makes me want to make a trip from Oklahoma!

Looking forward to the mural. Please post the work in progress since a lot of us would like to see how the artist develops the wall.

Will the mural require any kind of regular touch up? How much of the weather will it be exposed to? Full sun or storms from the (N,E,S,W)?

It faces due west..so it will get a fair share of direct sunlight. They do seal them when the artwork is complete which is basically a clear coat. We should get a lot of years out of it. As always feel free to follow along on the facebook page or my instagram for the quickest updates and a lot more content then I have to time post on here.

Perry News did run a preview story on it today.

Maybe after the Bake a Cake for a Same *** Marriage debacle, artists have to add moralist so you’re not sued if you won’t talk a job that has lewd, immortal content.

Shawn done the mural layout last night. He projected the image on the wall and traced the outline of the major features with a pencil. Basically its a roadmap of sorts. Channel 5, the ABC station out of Des Moines has expressed interest in doing a story on it. They are suppose come out and film next week after the artwork is further along.

The Econoline got booted out of the front bay and the customline is settling into its new space.

Fantastic place and photo's!

Many years ago painted lettering on Furniture trucks for American Furniture using a projection unit then using pencil to draw on side of truck. They were then hand painted in.

Middle of nowhere.
Hello Folks,

I had to make a trip across Iowa on Monday. So I made a little detour to check this place out.

WOW! The photos do not do it justice. So if you're ever rolling across Iowa, make a small detour and check out the Perry Sinclair Station!

HD FLHX, Thank You for sharing this with us.

Some may remember back when I bought the sign pole I also bought a Sinclair sign. I gave it a good acid bath and touched up a few spots. I think its looks pretty dang good. I hope to get it up in the next week or so. Its 2ft x 14ft if your curious on its size

I do love that 14' sinclair sign it looks great.
The mural is another nice touch to a well visited sight.
I met an artist named Youngblood a few weeks ago doing murals inside a building for the lions dragstrip museum. (he's been there working for 2 years on the walls) It is amasing how well some people can paint to any scale and make the picture look lifelike.

Hey HD FLHX,

We may be heading to Goodguys next weekend. Is it ok to stop with the cars for a couple of photos?

You don't have ask...feel free too. I will caution you, Perry is celebrating 150 years on Saturday. Lots of activities planned in the downtown area. As part of that I am setting out a few of my vehicles for display in front & beside the station. Thursday, Friday or Sunday it will be empty.
