The station makes an appearance in this Youtube VLog. Matt & Shannon are from the Chicago area I believe. They run a Youtube channel called "The Duo Finds". It was filmed on the Saturday after Christmas

Joe I would first like to THANK YOU for sharing and say WOW! I didn't notice you posting about turning the pump faces around [to show off the "Ad Windows"] But I see you did get around to it and all lit up to boot. WAY NICE! I am enjoying your antics with Dino, we can see this has become a labour of love, very enjoyable. I trust that you honestly are getting a bigger kick out of that than we are! I would also like to give you some unsolicited advise, with all of that 'Memorabilia" you should investigate the window films [applies like window tint] for the reduction of UV light that gets in to protect that treasure you have amassed. Again WOW and Thanx! Harry

Little project that kept me busy the last couple weeks. The old Coke machine was in need of a quick refresh. Far from a restore just some lipstick on an old pig.

Joe did they do any damage to your possessions while trying to liberate them? Which sign was he trying to get the S&H or Goodyear? It is SO GREAT that your town takes these things so seriously, i doubt a police car would even show up for that around here [well in the same day, they would show up for a "report" so that you could file with your insurance, like that would fix everything, you get no cash, it is less than your deductible, and they would raise your rates as you are clearly a "Risk" now!] It is refreshing to see how your authorities are responding, we are all hoping for the best possible outcome for you! You have invested in your community with CASH and SWEAT! Harry

No damage, they were after the S&H and possibly the round Champion porcelain. Only thing that saved them was I used an odd ball lag bolt size to attach them. Most have been switched over to one way screws with a mix of security torx to help prevent any future attempts.

Like flags for shot down planes, maybe stickers for each person caught

Sent from my iPhone using Garage Journal

They will get their mugshot hung on the wall inside

The Coke machine looks great. Did you do the white lettering yourself?

I had planned on it, even bought some one shot, but then I came across a company that offered vinyl decal kits so I went that route.

Really pretty coke machine. You must know the Chief of Police, hard to get any of the police around here interested in midnight theft.

Turns out you are also a make up artist. The ‘lipstick of the pig” is an awesome job. Well done and glad the thieves were caught. Hopefully justice will be served to them. Make up some period correct wanted posters for the station display.

After a few years of being out in the elements it was time to bring Dino in for a much needed paint job. He had faded pretty bad over the last year. I decided to strip him to bare because I wasn't 100% sure what products had been previously used and I didn't want to chance having a reaction to automotive paint products. It also gave me a chance to smooth out many of the seams. I started with a couple coats of an etch primer, followed by an epoxy sealer and finished off with an acrylic urethane top coat (single stage).

Is the block under his tail just a little extra protection, in case someone jumps on it?

Yes, it gets stood on, sat on, and probably jumped on from time to time. Just wanted to make sure it has no way to.flex

Dino got all spiffied up, and now he's out in the snow again. I'm assuming you got the same 2" of slushy stuff we got Joe?

We barely got enough to cover the grass.

That is one of the best looking Dinos around. Just make sure your security cameras have him in constant view. Also, make sure Dino is firmly anchored into the ground to avoid him "walking off". Here in Green Bay on the east end of Lombardi Ave there is an original Dino dating back to the 50s. Not all too long ago Dino got heisted, but was found and returned.

you need a NOT RESPONBILE FOR ACCIDENTS sign, so someone doesn't FALL and sue you?:dunno: People always looking for EZ money:sad: Or maybe talk to a lawyer and see what you should do to help protect yourself, along with insurance?
Back to the show:)
When I read that I am reminded of a letter sent to Ann Landers by a Harley owner who was asking her opinion, about his issue with finding complete strangers, kids and adults, sitting on his bike taking pictures, whatever. He was voicing his opinion of "whatever happened to respect of other's property and keep your grimy kids off my property, or worse that someone would damage it and he'd be stuck with the repairs."

I was taken back by Ann's response that he should expect it as his parked unattended Harley is considered an "attractive nuisance". She had no comment like "people don't respect other's property" or, "people should at minimum leave it alone or wait until you are there to ask if they can take a picture by it or on it." No, Ann basically said, "accept it and whatever happens is your issue, not theirs to consider." Ever since then I could never put up with her blather.

Your Dino probably falls into that "attractive nuisance" realm and it may mean some signage around Dino to make people aware of it AND of the cameras that record everything they are doing for which they will be liable. Just **** that people can't respect other's property. Not the way I was brought up.
