Beautiful  great job

Is a paint conditioner the same thing as a mixer/shaker (lay mans terms)?

I`ll use it at home when the need arises and I was looking for a vintage one when this popped up on CL.

"Is a paint conditioner the same thing as a mixer/shaker (lay mans terms)?"
Yeah that just what the factory called them.

LOLZ.

I always called them paint shakers.

I had a buddy in grade school whose family owned a Porter Paint store in the 1960's and 70's that had a few.

Vibration to the max! LOL.

Love the resto. Nice work.

I miss Red Devil enamel. I liked it better than Rustolium back in the day.
It's sad that you had to use another brand to paint a shaker with the Red Devil name on it.

Som Btch. That if I remember correctly that is what my Uncle had us using at a very early age. At our family's General/ Specility Hardware store.
Nice piece you have there.

Beautiful! (I have the HF one and use it A LOT! for oil base, latex, and spray paint.)

When I find a Red Devil for $20, I too will upgrade. Great job!

That did turn out nice. Have bought and sold 2 of them. Last one to a customer who has a heavy duty welding shop. Works on big things most people shy away from. Uses a lot of TSC enamel and says its a pain to stir and takes 20 minutes by hand. Loves it. It was a 2 can shaker and must of weighed 100 lbs.

I have vivid memories of going over to the paint building at the Grigg's Department store as a kid, with my dad, and watching those Red-Devil paint shakers in action. They had both single-can and dual-can units. I never got tired of watching those things for some reason.

They also had a small pipe sticking through the wall with a spigot on it which dispensed paint thinner (probably from a 55-gallon drum in back) - you would bring your empty 1-gallon metal can in and get it refilled.

Those were the days!

Where did you find it? Local? Not many mom and pop hardware stores anymore. I miss Puyallup Valley Hardware on West Main.

I use the HF pneumatic one for anything I paint. It's also good for mixing the oil back into natural peanut butter.

I see the Red Devil ones from time to time on CL. Generally over $200 though. The ONE I saw for $150 was in worse shape than this guy's $20 find.

I'd say suckage awarded.

The company that owes the rights to the Red Devil tools trademark now, Radia, was nice enough to send me a copy of the PDF of the March 1963 manual for the Cat 30 .

I don't know if I can post that here so if anyone wants a copy let me know.

Hi Gary:
I would LOVE to have a copy of your Red Devil Cat 30 manual. I just picked up a Cat 30 Conditioner/Shaker from a guy in Cleveland but know nothing about it. If you could send me one I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks much,
Cykotic
