Remind me for the Knotts Berry Farm show next year...
Wow this incredible. The work done to this truck is just awesome. Thanks for posting and sharing.
Thanks!
I had a 66 F-250 4X4 that I drove to highschool. My dad and brother lifted it with custom spring perches and custom made springs all around. I helped my dad rebuild the 352. It cleared 44" super swampers and I drove it everday, all day. Took it offroading several times. It had the 4 speed on the floor with the granny gear for first, made rush hour traffic a piece of cake. Custom power steering unit also so I could turn the steering wheel. I was 135lbs back then. That was in the mid 80's, people still remember that blue truck!
I remember that it could smoke those 44's like it was a 2wd truck. Nothing cooler than giant 4x4 tire burnout marks in the school parking lot.
Wow this is amazing you are an inspiration. Makes me feel so slack, I have to get on to my unibody.
Thanks! Just saw a unibody for sale yesterday with a 5.0L out of a Explorer stuffed in it. Looked pretty solid and straight for 3300.00
excuse me sir, but I believe it's been over a week and no progress pics! What's gives man???? Don't you know you're responsible for my fix here!
Nice thread! I check it every day! Good luck!
LOL
Don't feel so bad, some of us manage to live in the poor house. Like others been waiting for progress.
Making some progress today, FINALLY!
Pretty dang awesome this is. I would have never thought that any part could be cheaper (overall) from the dealer. Still learning something new every day! I love those trucks too...well, just about all old Fords, but anyway...
I have found to try dealer 1st because it is normally a much better part and a lot of times cheaper than aftermarket. I knew the rear axle at boneyard seemed steep and did not know they stripped it down until after I told them I would take it. If it had been the right gear ratio I may have still bit but in the end I was much better off just buying new and saving $$ to boot.
cant wait to see this one done! great job!
Thanks!
I am making progress and taking TONS of pics just not sure how detailed of pics people want to see. I have a lot of hours in rear axle assy right now and if interest could post those pics. That in itself has been a HUGE project.
Something else I have been spending a lot of time on is a Printed Shop Manual so to speak. Each and every component I decide to work on that is related to the '11~'12 Trucks I print each section page by page then put them in plastic sleeves and into a binder. Seeing as tho I am a fanatic of getting each and every part in correct order and proper torque I need the specs, torque's etc
Trying my best to make it all look new at same time....
Getting close to wrapping up the Rear Axle assy maybe yet this evening.
I am also taking all part numbers, pricing etc so I have a record if anything else is needed. That way when truck is complete I will have it all cataloged exactly part# and $$ of every component and what it fits.
My Binder is now many HUNDRED pages. The plastic sleeves really help if my hands are a bit dirty I do not smudge the pages. I have done that on my last dozen vehicles or so and find it very helpful.
