Looking good! ( I think we all want a thief update too......)
The local Sheriff is working on what all person can be charged with.
So far still working on who his accomplice(s) are.
This is the most gripping truck build I have ever read. I love the suspense.
BTW Great work! Can't wait for more.
Thanks! Hopefully it will get a bit more "fun" vs the not having a clue where to go next.
I just did some quick Googling and it appears there are a lot of choices for 7 inch round headlamps that use a H4 (factory) style bulb in them, so it looks like you have an easy solution for once.
Thanks! That is exactly why I post here. So much to think about & any help much appreciated.
I caught this thread in its infancy. I just looked thru it just now to see the progress. Wow! You have done a great job. Aside from the driveline transplant, I love the interior swap. Best of luck and nice work.
Plans are finally falling into place. The closer I get to making it will drive or knowing I can get it to all work will be more and more exciting for me.
I like this build! Been watching since you posted here, darn glad you did. I wish I had your fearless attitude about the wiring! I'm in the bug-eyed group of WTF when I look at all those wires.
I did another build back in 1996-97 that was probably more scary to do once I got started.
I wanted a neat newer daily driver for my Insurance Adjusting work where I put sometimes 300 miles in a single day. Good power dependable and also good MPG.
Started off with a brand new 1996 Ranger Extended Cab Step side.
It was cheaper than a used one at the time. 15,100.00 OTD
I had a super low mile 5.0 out of a mustang GT.
My thought was drop it into the Ranger for all that I was looking for.
I did but was not happy with power output so I added a SuperCharger.
Part of it was before purchase I did not realize it was OBD II and it had to pass the strict Arizona emissions standards. Wiring it to make it all work was a total nightmare. A ford engineer did finally help me with diagrams and few pointers. The truck had only 2040 miles on it when I tore it apart.
Of course it had a good roller cam, high comp, ported Twisted Wedge alum heads, ported intake etc.
On these stock skinny 4 cyl tires it ran a high 12 sec 1/4 @ 112 mph.
Put down 390hp to the tires.
I hid my timing boost controller in the spot where air bag would be (pass air bag delete truck) and the actual control was hidden in the glove box.
Fun truck that got 25+ MPG. The stock 2.5L in same truck could not top 14 mpg. Throttle to the floor where ever it went.
These pics were in 2008 or 12 years after the build. Not fresh anymore but still looked good. If anyone from here was at Barrett-Jackson auction January 1999 this truck ran through and bid up to my original purchase price of 15,000.00 I did not sell. This was prior to the no reserve only bidding.
