Call me old fashioned, but modern engines are just **** ugly.Don't get me wrong, the technology and efficiency is amazing. There's just something about a "real" hemi or elephant or a cammer for you Ford guys. Maybe it's just about being a V8 and those valve covers:bowdown:

fe0c1b9c75ff29a1fae3eb1370f0eb5e.jpg

Boss9 good too!

Only problem is who has 40k for a engine build? Then one needs 5k+ for transmission, 6k for big brakes, 2k for A,C and on n on. 3-5k will get it all then make same power and get 3x mpg. Go 250-300k with just oil changes & couple sets of spark plugs.

Re: 1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap & 1966 427 Project

Managed to get the 2.7 in it’s final resting spot. Transmission mount used from ‘15 donor. Bought new ‘15 engine mounts as quite cheap. Will use frame welded mounts from donor but will be bolt in in the ‘66 frame. Engine will be pretty low between rails as it fits so well. Still clearance for full suspension travel.

Randy,

Merry Christmas to you and your family. Enjoy the time with your daughters. Family memories are even more extraordinary than your skills in renewing the old iron.

Another quite possible "Project". Before anyone jumps all over me for this purchase I will explain the why's as things progress. Better than a 50% chance I will own this truck. 2016 F150 3.5 non eco 6R80 Auto.

Appears part of a burning wooden structure fell on truck causing it to catch fire!

Local AZ truck.

This will sound really really stupid especially from one who says to be "broke".

Fried to a crisp no doubt!

Any guesses as to how much truck will sell for?

Might be someone dumber than i . . .Hope not!

Am I the only one who see's value in this pile of burn?

This burn truck sold for 4150.00! Absolutely nuts for a base v-6.

Another 5.0 10spd hit hard in rear went for 12k!

Looks like things will stay 352 2v.

Re: 1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap & 1966 427 Project

Eco2.7 update:

Engine transmission now mounted!
I used new engine mounts then cut frame mounts off donor frame and it was pretty much a direct bolt in! A few mods to donor transmission crossmember and it fit right in!
A few mods and the intercooler and tubes/hoses in! Radiator & Cooling fans in place. Will do same core support mods that were done to Eco2.

Re: 1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap & 1966 427 Project

This morning went to a Chrome n Coffee with 427 Truck. Was great to do a bit of cruisin’ again.
Eco2.7; Started on the wiring today. Made great progress to try to hit my goal of running by January 1st. A few grounds and one plug in forgot where it goes! Then fuel system and hoping it will fire!
I will try to crank a bit without fuel using laptop (renewed subscription to IDS) to built up oil pressure prior to that first start!

Once it starts/runs I will continue to move ahead with getting it together.
This will not be a “show truck” but a decent driver with a few creature comforts.

7e95707dad65316f571f170ace01cdff.jpg

Plan is to use donor column, dash cluster along with HVAC, it will also have Sync, cruise control, tilt telescopic, hopefully I will be able to add a NAV unit if I am able to keep it.

I at least want to get it running in case someone would want it as is to build on their own.

I want to finish up Eco2 then do clone of dad’s before I quit. Eco2.7 will just push everything else back but can not afford to let it sit either. Too much $$ ******* now.

Thanks to all for the comments!

So many changes in a matter of days its hard to keep up here!

My pressure washer now 13yrs old has been giving me grief for a while now with trying to keep the burner lit. First temp control then the burner switch broke now the burner quit altogether. It was simply not getting hot as it once did for past 3-4 yrs.

While cleaning up shop I found a new Nozzle which I bought for machine. Took it apart to find a few years back the tech installed wrong nozzle! Huge diff with new nozzle ran hot like the old days. Then it popped the breaker. When I turned it back on the burner would not light. Took it apart to check igniter gaps etc. Found nothing wrong but then it started to work again. WOrked for a few uses then quit again. Finally got it up and running nice but decided to go online to check prices on a new one.

It so happened the local dealer had one that factory engineers had fired up for a few minutes. Brand new full warranty for about 1000.00 off MSRP.

I had my first Hot water washer for prob close to 15yrs figured now was a good time. I bought the next up the line washer. (Big job starting soon)

My 32 yr old welder also on the fritz with hard time trying to find parts. AirCo no longer in business. Its been a great machine until now.

Eco2.7
Trying to figure out steering now that its up and running. The manual gear box found only one place in country that has one. 800.00 where a NEW Electronic Rack n Pinion is only 730.00. But that would mean changing entire front suspension which I would love to do but the donor truck parts are toast. (mounting points)

Today I tore apart the crusty manual box that was quite sticky but zero slop to see if I could use as a core which is 250.00.
Without even opening it up I stuck it in a 5 gallon pail of EvapoRust late yesterday evening. Unreal how nice it now looks. I took it all apart to see if it may qualify for a core and it looks brand new inside! Had one sticky bushing but no wear. (sitting forever) a HUGE 800.00 towards that new welder! HA!

Tomorrow a 40' container shows up for a all new project. (just what I needed)

Monday another 40' container shows for another project. (will keep ya guessin' on both)

Its going to be one busy year!

My nearly 44 yr old cherry picker cylinder finally blew installing the heavy 2.7 EcoBoost combo. (Of course on notch that put it well overweight)

ram size too big would not fit the hoist so I found something proper height and turned it down to fit! My homemade lathe fits all! Had to drill n tap the top and drill new holes in base to fit but works well until I can rebuild my original. (too much getting left outside in weather)

Too tired to type anymore...

Yes. I have 10 full size and one 3/4 size.
Also have a 1st class airline seat in shop for visitors. Full recline with pop up food trays. Lol

They all have brakes that hold wheels from rotating and turning/rolling.

Ah yes, probably a good area of the country for sourcing that stuff cheap!

Nice PW too. I used to work at a tractor dealership with a similar model. It was amazing how much the hot water helped with removing oil and grease from equipment. It also made pressure washing on a below freezing degree day SLIGHTLY less miserable.

You've got all the cool stuff!

Been too cramped to move for too long.

I love the Hotsy pressure washers. They had one at the auto hobby shop at Ft Benning, Georgia. Used it when parting out a 68 GTO hardtop there. Great piece of gear. Have wanted one ever since.

This is my 3rd Hotsy. Invaluable for restoration with a bit of “Magic Soap” thrown in.

Hotsy 2 has not given as much heat as it should have last 5 yrs. fixed now but when I had it serviced the tech put in wrong nozzle, never would get hot enough. I knew I bought a extra nozzle when I bought machine but could not find it.
Finally did mixed with junk. Works great once again. I am going to shine it up, replace stickers n decals then sell it.

Bit weathered spending so much time outside.

The new one is a upgrade. 3 stage pump, more pressure, bigger burner etc.

Bought my first one in 1988-89.

Welding decent short lived. Found new Tweco gun. Supplier says shipped.
Trying not to buy another but will have to find a way soon if new gun does not fix feed issue.

6R80/Transfer case being held up by floor jack since last year.. gotta be able to move truck to clean shop floor in preparation for next projects.

Everything on hold here at moment.

I hope we get to see the finished engine and driving impression when running.

Dream stuff! :)

Yes! First up is to assemble engine then fit into engine bay of truck. Build the heavy wall Stainless (.100”) turbo headers then hit the Dyno!

Install in truck.

It will get a Billet transmission and Atlas transfer case to hold the power. Axle assy will also be upgraded.

2 Forty foot containers with a 18’ gap between them. Can anyone guess what’s going on?

My guess: bringing everything to dump. Moving to North Pole.

Hint: Zero out of pocket cost for Containers!

Hint 2. Next week will be retirement age.

Hint 3
