I’ve done a fair amount of tiling and all flat work so thanks for posting info on your shower wall. It’s sorta the same but as you say the mortar needs to be a lot more exact. As with everything doing it again should be easier so you’ll be happier with the results. From my chair it looks pretty darn good so don’t be so hard on yourself.

I picked up an ariens tiller last summer and after changing to fresh gas it started but then died so I’ll need to work on it this spring. I might need some advice cause I’d rather have one of these old school tillers than a new one that has a lot cheaper and thinner metal.

I’m not sure I could even survive in the temps you have or deal with the feet of snow but it looks like no big deal for you and your neighbors. Stay warm and here’s to a good 2022 and an even better 2023.

We use thermal imaging at work. Keep in mind, when you look at the difference in color for heat ranges, consider what you are looking at.

Your uncovered foundation wall compared to the exterior Winter ground temperature. There should be a huge difference.

The picture in the hall way, bottom edge of the wall is way colder. Theoretically, the entire wall color should be the same. There should be minimal difference in color.

Question, how precise is it ? If you put your hand on the wall for about 3 seconds and move it , will it detect a thermal hand print?

Slim: I bet you’ll test the lower limits of that with the super cold temps you experience. Another member Denwood (Woody) also has pretty low temps at his place (Thunder Bay in Canada) and he did some of this thermal imaging on his small garage and house. He’s a techy for certain so check out his thread and if you can’t find all his posts on this subject send him a pm.

Our houses are close enough to the same age. I wholeheartedly get what you are say about old homes and insulation.

I was just trying to make you aware of what the differences you are seeing in the camera relative to what you are actually seeing with the naked eye. We've had some young guys start on the FD and didn't quite understand what they were seeing when they first started using a TIC.

By far and away, they are an awesome tool to use for the DIYer trying to seal his or her home up.
