Slim, I think you have won hearts with your cat..

Nice work on the heater especially mid winter there.

What can I say about your tenants other than I hope you get some use out of the gear they left..

Regards

Slim: I also have been the beneficiary of items tenants have left behind. I sold the kerosene blast heater as quick as I posted it on Craigslist. Had plugged it in to make sure it worked. Posted a similar photo to the one you have of the glow and had cash in hand before the sun went down. Still not enough to cover lost rent or damages. Just remembered I need to relist the floor buffer another tenant left behind. I have also kept a number of items including the neat little Panavise that I need to clean up and repaint. Call it a 1/2 done project.

I am going to use your idea of keeping various "task boxes" instead of the buckets I have been using to keep like tools and supplies together. Too much hassle digging through a 5 gallon or cat litter bucket to find a single 1/2" copper tee that I know is in there....

That heater looks like something batman would use to heat the bat cave. What a beast. :lol_hitti

BTW I have been told the gnomes were from think geek dot com. Not sure if the correct Kirk is arriving. I'll post what we have in the ST thread later on.

Cheers GB

Do you suppose there is some company looking for their Greenlee tool box and supplies? It looked like it was packed too neat for a deadbeat tenant. But there have been some oil business upheavals of recent.

That's about like the Greenlee tool box I use in the back of my pickup. Mine's a 5 ft one.

My experience is always just look at the rent you have received and don't worry about lost rent. Even if you get a judgement against someone likely they can't pay. If they could they would have paid their rent so I just recognize I have enough to eat and look for new deadbeats. I mean new tenants.

SP: love the furry critter pictures and keep posting them up as you have time either with garage stuff or just by themselves if they are that cute. looks like that little guy is getting the hang of your home and hope he has quit scratching you. I think it's been a year and half since we rescued our current cat that was 4.5 years old and in a non kill shelter. I had to remember to wear gloves if i was going to play with her cause either she had a terrible guy in her past or she's half bobcat. she purrs so loud you can hear her a full room away though and she LOVES MY BRIDE so MANAGEMENT is happy while i try to figure this furry one out.

GREENLEE boxes are maybe the best ones i know of and i've owned several. even sitting outside they don't easily rust cause paint jobs were over the top on the outside but insides will rust if left open.

i bet it's tough to be a full time contractor in your area with the weather so dang cold in the winter time, but guessing that your old tenant liked to drink more than work hence his money issues.

organizer should come in handy if you can find a spot for it even if you need to change it to parts and stuff you use more often and donate or trade the other stuff in the bins now.

i didn't see the heater, but i'm just scanning a few threads before i get back on my ORGANIZING mode and wait for more stuff that MANAGEMENT wants me to do for the wedding that is very soon now.

KRC, Hey! Thanks for stopping by! So you're one of the 47,000+ that's been reading my nonsense! :lol_hitti:lol_hitti
You're probably right about the heater being a quick sale but I'm going to keep it around for a year or two while trying to finish the inside of my pole shed. I'm not sure "beneficiary" is the appropriate term!!! You have to store it until you get a hearing with the rental board. They seldom rule in a landlord's favor and you can't get costs in rental court in Saskatchewan.

That being said, you occasionally get a 1/2 decent item. Case in point is ... what is now my main toolbox was also abandoned by a tenant... It's a Gladiator brand. The toolboxes and jack stands in this pic were unclaimed by tenants ... and had a selection of incomplete tool sets!!!! :willy_nil  So you can't get a whole lot for the tools.

The taskbox idea has been one of the best organization aids I've used. I highly recommend it! When I went started cleaning up my garage, it was unreal how many times I've bought the same thing more than once because I couldn't find, or didn't remember, buying it the first time! I use bigger buckets to store collections of supplies (like fittings for plumbing).

I haven't been over to Drives Organizing 201 thread lately but I should drop back over to see what's new and post a few more pics.

Those Panavises are very nice instruments. Which one did you get? I use the medium size one for electronics work when I get time to pursue my hobby. Let's see a pic of it!

Cheers

I sold the heater because even though my garage is unheated I cannot stand the Kerosene fumes which take me back too many years. It never seemed to bother me in my teens, but I guess I have gotten away from them enough that I knew I would have never used the heater. Most of what I have accumulated has come from just the **** people leave behind, although the Panavise did come from an eviction where they never came and picked up their stuff out of the back yard. Speaking of which I added a pic. I believe it is a small one also. I have used the 1/4" tapped hole to add some hold downs. I really need to show it some love.

I went to a rental owned by a contractor I do quite a bit of work for today and there was an appliance dolly left behind. Sent him a text to see if he wants it. If not, I will have to make the decision on whether it gets kept or warehoused. He is likely to either tell me he will take it and I know where it is or to take it and HE will know where it is.

I've been watching, but not commenting much lately, because your skills are way more advanced than mine......

But you know what they say about cats - Dogs have Masters, cats have Servants......

Looks like you've been converted to the servant position! :shocking: :lol_hitti

As much as I'd rather deal with cattle than renters, the rentals pay me money and the cattle barely cover their feed and taxes on the land they are on. So I keep dealing with rentals. Cattle are less stubborn and more reasonable than the average tenant.:willy_nil

Slim: when you posted this: It is a nice rack though! But I've seen nicer ones! :lol_hitti :lol_hitti

i'm not certain if we switched subjects which is totally understandable.

or if you are comparing your free rack to some of my ALMOST FREE racks i've been collecting?

EITHER WAY i understand about SPACE issues so get that spare POLE BARN finished so you can store some of your good STUFF cause i'm betting being your own hardware store might save you a tank a gas a month. or do you have drones deliver same day drop offs?

I for one vote for more crazy, funny, cute cat pictures of course if you can do so without getting scratched.

Glad you're back and over the flu1

Great job on the truck. In reviewing a couple of pictures down, and shadow from the brake rotor, I think we're seeing the shadow from a casting line. The other picture, from the other angle, has the same bracket on top but no apparent crack. Still have to look, though:eyecrazy:

I love your old toolboxes and the stand. Outstanding job keeping the patina!! Can't have enough flat spaces. I have my dad's tool box from the early fifties and need to get a place for it so I can use it.

Nice boxes Slim. And I like your tribute to your dad, I'd leave them as is too. Glad you made it through the flu battle. I'm just now recovering from it myself (so much for the flu shot I got)

And changing the upper control arm will affect the camber alignment and probably should be adjusted. But it shouldn't change the toe in so it shouldn't chew up the tires. Still a god idea to get it done.

Slim: of course we miss your sense of humor so take a few minutes to put a smile on all of our faces even if you only went to work, ate and went to bed.

good to hear winter is over and dang near summer weather today sounds like.

just to add a little more of Drive's bling to your thread i drove 4 hours (each way) for this little 135 pounder with it's 100 pound stand today. i'm not sure i NEEDED it but i can't afford a 1956 pick up so a vice for vises will have to suffice until i build back up my tool and fun funds.

cheers

Slim: maybe you could just post a couple words now and then until you are have enough time and are able to write some of your stories that we all love. in the meantime i need to let Andy know i can't buy his friend's 62 cause i'm sort of looking for a 56 if it comes my way.

so if you don't mind a few of us will keep kicking your thread to the top cause even though you trashed your shoulders i still love that wall you built. ok?

ANDY: i just noticed you tried to give me a subliminal message on the 62 over here before you posted pictures of it on your own thread? you are a great salesman and maybe even better now that you are always working on SATURDAY.

Slim: BTW check out Andy's thread cause it's like Christmas over there with all the rusty and shiny stuff he's been buying in between all of his cleaning up.

cheers

Slim: have you seen the movie Tomorrowland? one of the good points i got out of that movie was the best and the brightest don't have to do much different than they always do when asked to do something.

so whether or not you are HILARIOUS or just funny or have some cool facts to post it's usually always a pleasure reading what you have to say.

hope you are feeling better and hoping your spring has maybe already arrived too.

cheers and just be yourself!!

Slim: i know you are busy, but maybe ANDY and i can get you to at least send up a smoke signal telling us your shoulder is ok and maybe 95% now and that you don't have any more snow?

here's a picture of the view out of my chair in my living room in case you might just want to post up a few more pictures of yours. or of that awesome gate.

BTW has the gate settled at all or could you maybe build a commercial building on top of the foundation you put under it?

cheers

SP: i know we are pests and just have nothing better to do than to check and make sure a few members are still above dirt and kicking. ARE YOU??

I picked up a little something yesterday you don't maybe see much in your part of the world. it's a Prentiss #5 swivel jaw vise born before 1910.

cheers and we're due for a little more smoke. :D

SP: well i guess being NOMINATED for something is a good thing.

i know i've posted on about 4,000 threads so not surprising you saw a few. you could say i like it here and gladly spend a few hours reading about cool stuff and learning more about some of the members is maybe the coolest part.

i didn't know a person here on GJ when i joined and then started meeting some and liked it even more. i bet i've met over 100 members in person in my travels and we don't go to swap meets or other functions yet, but i'm thinking that might be a possibility cause every one of the members i've met i'd invite to my home. that said i wouldn't invite all members to my home cause some are just not fun to read their posts and i don't like negative people.

you on the other hand always make me smile cause as you say you do post on some of my favorite threads besides this one of your own so that's why i try to make sure you still know we are here. i know a lot of the other guys feel the same way cause your sense of humor even if you are having a bad day is infectious.

keep posting even if it's just cute pictures of your cat and i hope you are enjoying your REAL SATURDAY that Andy and i get 6 of every week.

speaking of cats here's our tortoise shell calico that was about 4 years old when we rescued her from a shelter. she is the boss and my wife's cat that is for certain and my wife was walking down the side of the house while we were checking out the new siding and the cat (CLEO-Patra cause she is the queen) walked along the top of the fence right alongside my wife so my wife looked to the right and had to give her some love when i mentioned it and snapped the picture.

also anywhere i fold up a couple towels even if on a box is where Cleo (The CAT) will plant and probably go to sleep.

cheers
