2 Post Lift Location

I am planning a 34x60 build. I want to put in a 2 post lift and I'm looking for suggestions on a location. Either just inside the overhead or part way down the building. This is my first time, but I'm sure there are lots of people that have done this already. What works, what doesn't? Thanks!

I would go with option 1. It is farther inside and you do not have to worry about the overhead door.
I just did a 30 x 60 with 3 doors on the side. I put my lift in the far end bay. It is working out good for me. I also went with coil up doors so I don't have to worry about the door over the lift or blocking light fixtures.

I was always thinking option 1, but if I do go with option 2 (for whatever reason) I will make sure my crew cab long box clears the door lol.

Option 2 would be my choice, hate seeing lifts in the back, you basically loose all that space in front, and if you stored something you would always have to move it out of the way.

Currently that would be in my gravel driveway lol. This is a new build.

Mine is placed like option #1 if I leave something on the hoist for a while I don't block that entrance. I wouldn't change mine on bit.

This^^^^, if you put it in the back you either got to keep all the space in front of it clear or you'll be constantly moving things.

you didn't say what your ceiling height is.

if you have 12' or more you can get high lift doors that go straight up before they go back into the space.

I have a 36' x 64' barn with 14'-0" ceiling.
here's a rough drawing of where I have my lift, it has worked well for me.
I have a 18' x 8' roll up high lift door, the bottom of the door track is 12'-0" so it's almost a non issue as far as the vehicle is concerned. and it only sticks back in the space 69".
I would look at one large door instead of two smaller ones, it may not look as good but it makes moving things in and out much easier.

I have a 40x60 with a 14’ ceiling. I have 2 12x12 overhead door on the 40 side. I went through the same thought exercise and ended up near the overhead door. I’m so glad I did that. I store my tractor and implements in the area past the lift.

If you look to the upper left on the pic you can see the end of the overhead door track.

if you have a 14' tall door then the door and tracks shouldn't even be a issue
