:shocking:

I would be interested to hear from our sparky friends on the electrical sub-forum regarding the use of the grounded plug on a non-grounded tool...I know that using a grounded receptacle on a non-grounded circuit is a big no-no.

I would THINK that it should be OK, as long as the correct polarity is maintained, but...?

I don't see a problem with a DIYer adding a 3-wire plug on a double insulated tool.
OTOH Warm American beer is a big problem

I don't see any difference between a 2 prong plug being plugged into a grounded outlet and a 3 prong plug with the ground not connected to anything. As long as the equipment doesn't need a safety ground, I say go for it.

The reason the stock cord end was made the way it was is because it doesn't matter which way it's plugged in.

It's not really applicable to a DIY guy, but the UL Listing is void unless you replace the entire cord with an OEM replacement cord OR put the UL equivalent to the OEM cord end on the existing cord. All the licensed electricians I know will not replace damaged cord ends with big box repair ends like shown in the video for that reason.

Yes it did work both ways without a problem. That plug was not the stock plug though... DeWalt has a distinctly identifiable molded plug.
