I purchased a set of these Home Depot sockets (200 pieces) before Thanksgiving, after seeing posts on the set on GJ. They have dropped the set price below what I paid. The store will refund me the difference between what I paid then, and the price now, which is a double-sawbuck. It's worth the trip to Home Depot, just produce your original receipt, or your electronic receipt from your purchase. You do hit the button at checkout, "email me a copy of the receipt," don't you?

"Show me the money!"

I got a $20+ refund.

If you want to post a better deal than what currently posted, it wouldn't hurt to share how/why you got it lower.

It was listed at $99, I asked the asst manager, about the $80 price in the ad, she started to bang on the keyboard, turned to the sales girl, said you’re all set, the girl hit total it was $58.34.

I check the receipt at home it was listed at $79 less a 25% discount, which must have based on the current $99 price, as the discount was $25, so that dropped price to $54, then $4.32 sales tax, so a total of $58.32.

I grabbed this last year when they were on clearance at $25. They will probably keep dropping again, so save your receipts and get a price adjustment. I hated using my USA Craftsman sockets, I just broke a 17mm doing my brakes here in the rust belt. I wanted to keep my matching set, so I bought one on Ebay :( I pulled the Craftsman out of my toolbox and replaced them with these, nice to know I can beat the heck out of them and just run up to HD and replace one when it breaks.

Got them today. They look decent enough. Not gonna swap my Craftsman stuff for them though since I have far more craftsman stuff than these. I’ll put them on rails maybe and save them for my son or something even though we got him the big Metrinch set.

Finally got to sorting the set, didn’t even read what it included. It is mostly 12 points. They are only the first 1/2 inch or so of the deep sockets cut (I’m not a fan of that). Chrome plating is lousy on some to the point where I’m going to take two individual sockets back to HD. The size stamping is really bad on some of them. The smaller sockets are better finished than the big ones.

But they’re cheap.

I’d use these where they’ll be lot or abused, give these to a kid as a starter set or if you don’t have a lot of 12 points to fill in 12 points.

I finally bit at $60. I really don't need it but it's a heck of a value and does fill in some gaps in my socket collection... not that those gaps have impacted me recently.

Bought one at$59. Not great, but at $.33/socket, it’s hard to pass up. Not as nice as my Snapon, old Craftsman, SK, Gearwrench, or even my Crescent sockets, but they will do.

I replaced all of my USA Craftsman sockets with these. I'm storing the Craftsman for now, I hated having mismatched sets, and hated paying $8 a socket on Ebay whenever I broke one. Now I don't need to be concerned about breaking them. I already needed a 24mm though, and this set does not include one :(

Only $5.97 at home depot for a 24mm to finish out the set. Look at the bright side $2.00 cheaper than craftsman. And you do not have to wait on it to get there :)

Hi Dodge, I have a deep metric 24 impact, but didn't have clearance in my transmission fill plug for a deep socket to fit. HD does not offer a shallow 24mm!

Sort of PSA...

well for those who got the box... make sure you count them asap...

I bought that 200 piece last night right before they are about to close, whopping $59
box is sealed, re-taped by them.. long story short... I decided to count them this morning.... and it's missing 22 pieces (1 bag of 1/4 deep sockets).... it's a lot to count but at least check them if the bag is open, make sure you match them.. also I got some WTF bags different from the description on the box... but anyways... still missing that 22 piece...

still great deal, just a pisser knowing it's incomplete set...

as far as quality... seems like a great set, never know until you actually used them... the finish is consistence on the outside.... the inside some of them are not consistence, if you care that much about it.

No It doesn't looks like I can dent it like those youtube "professionals" did on the HF Icon sets... unless I really try with the press or BFH... so......

I ran into this myself a few weeks ago when I was changing rear diff fluid. I went to grab the new chrome 24mm I was sure I had, and that's when I discovered that this set didn't come with one. I spent the $5.97 to buy the 24mm deep - I can't really complain though, since I scored this set when they went on clearance last year for $25...

Can a 15/16th work? That's 23.8mm vs 24.

Thanks Dodge and Citation, I ended up using a 15/16, but when removing fill plugs, I hate being off even that tiny fraction. I hate stopping in the middle of a job to drive an hour round trip to the dealer for a new one. I had to do that anyway on this job. I stripped the threads tightening up the drain bolt, and then broke a bolt off in the transmission housing, replacing the drain pan. I didn't plan on taking the pan off, but wanted to make sure no shavings from the stripped bold ended up in the pan. Managed to drill a perfect hole in the remaining bolt and remove it, without buggering threads ;) . All while lying on my back in the driveway. Days like that make me wish I had a lift!

Cross my fingers, I'll try to stop by tomorrow and see... no time today... but we are talking about this same store that lost my FIL's special order toilets and showed their corporate the middle fingers even after they were presented with a tracking number saying it's been delivered 3 weeks before... lol yea...

My store had 8 or 9 of these when the price dropped to $59. I just bought the last one. I don't need them, for $59 I couldn't say no.

Clerks couldn't locate them where the stocking software said they were. As I went to exit, at the front of the store, next-to and in-front of the checkout lanes were Husky tool displays, toolboxes, benchtop tools, toolsets, and, yes, a pallet of the 200 pc. sockets.

I picked-up a set about 2 weeks-ago.

I purchased a set of these Home Depot sockets (200 pieces) before Thanksgiving, after seeing posts on the set on GJ. They have dropped the set price below what I paid. The store will refund me the difference between what I paid then, and the price now, which is a double-sawbuck. Read my posts, above. Since they just dropped the price again ($59), I took-back my unopened set, and exchanged them for another box, and I saved another double-sawbuck!

I can do this all-year... .
