I work out in the Field for a living so anything that will help me with portability or to lighten the load on my shoulder. I also purchase my first house 3 years ago and it's a fixer upper. I try to do all my own work and call in the pros when needed. Anything for general constructions would be appreciated also. In reality I would be happy with anything that was gifted to me and a good present is more about the thought then the usefulness (but that always help :) )

My shop endevuors range from basic car repairs to building high powered rockets. I spend a lot of time woodworking, camping in my Airstreams, building plastic models and other wierd technical things. I am drawn to the unusual!

I spend a lot of time teaching space exploration and rocketry to youth. If it says NASA on it, I want it!

Have many interests. Could use some snowboarding items as that season is coming up. Other than that tool wise I have a couple wants: 1. Solid USA made 3/8 drive ratchet (Snap On, Matco, Mac, Cornwell). 2. 1/4 and 3/8 wobble extension sets. 3. I am a huge NJ Devils and NY Jets fan. Get me whatever you want and I am more than sure that I will be satisfied.

I like frank zappa, traditional american tattoos, and really hoppy pale ale.
I could really use a javelina mount, or another swampbooger.

I am a weekend warrior that just started to invest in good quality tools.
Most of the time I am working on my BMW E30 M3.

I assume my secret santa will be from america so stuff would be nice that is hard to find over here: hansen socket tray, pliers rack, extra long handle pliers, swivel sockets , flex ratchets 3/8, ... metric prefered

Overall I have to say that I will be happy with everything :)

This is neat to read what you guys are into.

I've just started building (and refinishing) furniture. I've got a good lot of tools but for woodworking I'm limited. I love vintage US made tools and always could use more clamps, Vise Grips, etc. I've also been looking for a decent used Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver, too.

I'm not into gimmicky items but I do appreciate the odd items that are well made or handy.

I've got a 1930 Model A hot rod coupe and a couple Model T roadsters and vintage tools to match. I'm sure that eventually scientists will discover the I've got some early American/hot rod/do-it-yourself genes in my DNA

I got a grinch of a secret Santa last year, so please don't forget me this year, I'm traumatized. :D

I'm into music, I'm a home brewer, I love craft beer, I like to play in the mud/snow/rocks with my wheeling rig (1992 Explorer, lifted, locked on 35's). I didn't really do it on purpose but I'm a Ford guy. I love to pull wrench but lately all I do is work on my garage.

I'm just a beginner DIY'er… starting from scratch AGAIN. I don't have the budget of most people on this forum and actually, almost every tool that I own was bought used, recently at garage sales.

I'd be happy really with any new or old, used tool that you don't need anymore. I don't mind rust and don't expect much. I'm happy just to join in and I really would appreciate anything.

I just posted some pics of my humble little tool box in the "Let's see your toolbox" thread, if that helps!

Interests include: vintage motorcycles, welding, blacksmithing, industrial furniture, architectural salvage and restoration, learning Spanish and exotic travel!

Thanks again guys.
Happy Holidays everybody!

This thread is a great idea for a guy with low post counts (me!). Like everybody else here, I'm a techie garage fanatic who enjoys getting my garage setup (been working on it for 2years), a great deal (Hot Deals section is amazing), nice tools, clever ideas, turbo cars, and standup jetskis. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever I receive and I'm really pumped to do the research on the person I'm buying for. Merry Christmas!

I could use a good work light. Maybe something magnetic you could put in odd spots. I'm also working on my 3/8 drive metric universal socket set. I still need 10, 12 & 14mm. That being said I'll be happy with anything garage/tool/auto related.

Happy Holidays!

I am a mechanical engineer by day, and I modify Ford diesels as a hobby. Additionaly, I work on my farm and construction equipment and restore old IH tractors and CAT and Deere construction equipment. I rock an orange KRL1023 box and have mostly SO, Matco and Mac tools. I do not have any German tools, so if my SS happens to be from Germany, that would be cool. I plan to post pics in the toolbox thread in the next day or so. I don't really have a wish list or anything, so surprise me.

Im a tractor-trailer mechanic. I love to keep my classic 96 clean and stocked. I also love to off-road in my Mitsubishi Montero :) I just started modifying my rig so I'm just a begginner. I love being outdoors, camping, hiking, walking my GSD. And of course I try to add my lovely lady in as many of these activities as possible.

I am just like anyone else here who loves tools. I have been meaning to fill my 3 smallest snappy wrench spots. 7, 8, 9 mm in fd+ standard length. But in all honesty, I dont need them, I just want them. But I will be happy what ever I get cause I am more excited to give a gift to the guy I got.

IT guy during the week... wrencher on the weekends doing maintenance/tinkering for self, friends, and family (mainly Toyotas) with all pro grade tools... Think I have ALMOST every hand tool I can think of.

Only suggestions I can think of is perhaps a tool that i didn't know i could live without...or maybe something to spruce up the two car garage. Nothing but white walls at the moment...

I'm an industrial HVAC pipefitter. I generally have everything. I'm akin to blue (channelocks), visegrip, and basically any USA hand tool.
Truck brands are not suggested.

I work for an engineering firm as a plumbing designer/draftsman. I'm a hobby wrencher, I've got most everything I need, I appreciate old tools, not like Ford Model T wrenches, something I can use, used is fine, made in USA pieces or quality stuff.

This is a list of ideas of stuff I'd like:
1. Deep metric 3/8" 6pt or 12pt, deep metric 1/4" 6pt or 12pt. Armstrong, Blackhawk, Bonney, Craftsman, Duro-Indestro, Herbrand, old Husky, early Kobalt, Plomb, Proto, Thorson, Vlchek, Williams, Wright and of course, any tool truck brands. Just quality, of course old metric sockets will be harder to find. Doesn't have to be a complete set, I have one set of 6pt 1/4" late model Kobalt and a mid depth 6pt 1/2" set, I have short 1/4" & 3/8".

2. Gearwrench non reversible ratcheting wrenches 5/8's & up, 8,9,11,15,16,17,19 - these are my missing ones, whatever fills a hole, used is fine as long as it works and isn't too beat up/abused.

3. This is a little tougher. I have a Longlife Phillips #2 screwdriver, part # 42-216. It is painted like a Craftsman, in fact, for years I thought it WAS a Craftsman, it's my go to #2 Phillips, tip is still nice and I got it used from ??? I wouldn't mind having some more.

4. 24" or longer 1/2" breaker bar, the handle part should be forked, not the part the socket goes on. I've had a Chinese one that broke at the forked part the socket goes on, which is why I don't want that kind.

5. Any Peterson , made in DeWitt Nebraska Vise Grips, especially welding ones.

I am finishing up my MET degree this semester. I grew up on craftsman tools and most of the common hand tools. I am an aspiring hobby machinist. I've been collecting machine tools for the last 3 or 4 years. I consider myself an extreme diy'er and will do everything myself even if its above my reach. sorry, not to good about talking about myself. hope this helps.

Like some other there is not a lot I "need" but a look through the "It's Garage Sale Season" or the "Tiny tools" thread will give a clue as to the things I gravitate to. Some specifics are:

Pexto
Plvmb (Plomb)
Proto
SK
"Long C" Craftsman
Unusual hammers, (but I'm semi selective these days...)
Mini tools, but you know that.

Other stuff:
old German (Solingen) Hunting knives/hatchets, particularly "Othello"

Gerber Touch'e belt buckle knife (Knife only, mine fell off into a leaf pile, & went through the shredder, and I NEVER found the blade, just the handle, two years later in the compost bin...

Thinking out of the box:
Some sort of digital RPM/tach I can use on my treadmill motor powered variable speed DP.

I'm an IT guy during the week... wrencher on the weekends doing maintenance/tinkering for my self, friends, and family with all mostly pro grade tools... I'm also an avid Mt.biker and bike mechanic as well. I have too many ratchets and am looking to build up my Channellock collection.
My short list is:
Channellock 440,386,444,410
Metric Crowsfeet - I have none so far
Anything: ERNST,Snap-On,Matco
EZ Red - Magnetic 15 Wrench rack (Blue)

I'll update as the days go on. Now its time to research for my recipient:pimpflash

I design stuff during the day and goof off in the garage building stuff or fixing old things like hand drills, drill presses, etc.

A few ideas of I could possibly use...

As I stare at a pile of standard and metric T-handle hex key I realize an organizer would be nice.

Wrench organizers (without carry handles) for that amazing deal on the Craftsman Professional full polish metric and standard wrench sets (I believe they are 14 pieces each and should arrive in a few days).

I do like the Enderes 2 in 1, 4 in 1, and 6 in 1 multi bit screwdrivers, but they are no longer in business :( Though if there was a nice equivalent out there that would be great.

The SK SureGrip screwdrivers (regular or long length) in flat or philips tip style are always good.

A nice automatic center punch is also something I would use a lot.

Used stuff is fine.

Thanks

I like cool bottle openers, Snap On and Matco ratchets/screwdrivers, anything related to German Shepherds. I also like surprises, so good luck if my SS is reading this :)

I lurk quite a lot, I really should post more!!

I'm a tech guy by day working at Intel and love being in the garage or working on our new house when time allows.

I'm just getting into MIG welding, love fabrication and pretty much any old tool.

As far as other hobbies, I back pack, camp, snowboard, tinker some in electronics, road bike, wet shaving, archery hunting, anything related to body work and basically any stereotypical manly kinds of things.

This is my fist year doing the Secret Santa and I'm stoked!!

Thanks to everyone who is a part of it!

Agreed! I'm more worried about what I get my guy than what I'm receiving. I don't really care what I get, I'll be happy to just see something under the tree from a stranger that was nice enough to take the time and send it.

Tools are fine but definitely not necessary. Banners, posters or signs for my walls are great. Stickers for my fridge too... it doesn't really matter. I know I'm not much help. I'm also into Hot Wheels and in Canada we get very limited selection compared to the States so that's an easy area to explore as well.

I'm down for just about anything US made! I'm sure my posts reflect this, but I do woodworking, auto & home repair. I could use a battery LED worklight, some clamps, a good LED flashlight, red hard-handled snap on ANYTHING! I also like models and Legos, so pretty much whatever you think might be cool or some kind of interesting tools from wherever.

I sell car parts by day, and tinker in the garage by night. I play mainly with Mercedes cars and love anything German. I have most of any tools I need, but the best quality I have is Craftsman. No Snap-On stuff, yet. A good LED rechargable flashlight would be awesome. And since I probably make 2-3 trips a week to Lowes and Home Depot, I wouldn't complain about gift cards!

I just hope the person I'm buying for will like what I get them!

I like Proto and Plomb stuff for my collection, but most of what I use for normal everyday tools are Craftsman USA things.

I tinker on a lot of different things, military vehicles, guns, ham radio, and their related stuff. So, I don't use a lot of specialized tools, just average everyday stuff.

Nothing special, I'm just glad to be part of this idea. Looking forward to the surprise Christmas morning!

I run the AV department for a medical school in AZ. I am not a master by any means but I love to DIY, both on our house and my car (Scion xb 06). While I have a lot of tools I love gadgets and vintage looking signs for the garage. I do spend a good amount of time outdoors camping and kayaking as well as coaching volleyball for the past 20 years.

I don't post a lot but I read something on the site almost everyday. Love the ideas for organization as my garage seems to get away from me at least twice a year.

I am am mechanical Engineer by trade. In a previous life I raced stock cars and restored two older American Muscle cars (Fords!). As of late I am spending a ton of time working on Giant Scale RC aircraft (3.1 Meter wing spans weight of around 40 lbs and 150cc Twin engine) So any small quality hand tools would be right for me. Snap on is always a good deal and Whia hand tools of any veriety or type would make me estatic! Screwdrivers, nut drivers, plyers... Allen wrenches of all sizes (metric) are always welcome... With that said I have remained somewhat active in auto projects. I have a 1998 Mercedes SL600 I am restoring / driving...

I have quite a bit of tools but am in need of organization. I just bought socket trays for all my sockets but could definately use wrench trays. I have (2) 44" HF boxes so could use any type of drawer trays/organizers/etc.

I wrench on old Honda ATC 3 wheelers and a Kawasaki KX250F dirt bike.

I have a relatively new garage and could use any type of vintage signs or memorabilia.

I am a technical writer by trade, but used to be a flat rate automotive technician. I do both wrenching and carpentry as a hobby.

As far as likes, I like hot women, cold beer, vintage fuel and oil goodies (signs, cans, etc.), license plates, good quality hand and power tools, and really for the most part, anything garage and shop related.

I'm a pretty easy going guy and in all honesty, I will be happy with anything my SS sends out.

I like anything automotive related, have started to get back into rodding by helping some local guys. might be time for a new project in the new year.Started reading and collecting Anime and manga a few years ago, starting to get into gen one transformers and avatar. I have been trying to collect hardback star wars books for a while,my soft copus are falling to bits. Been having some great nerf wars with my sisters kids lately, realy must get my own as I dont like the idea of breaking their toys.Still fooling aroung with rc cars, looking for a 1/10 supra drift car atm. Tools....yep got plenty of them, can always use more. I dont have any mac, matco yet, though I am in need of some screwdrivers and work gloves (lrg size).
