Love those old anvils! Hoping to pick up another a big one and a smaller one to mount on the wheel table.

Okay.. Here's my haul from a pretty decent estate sale which I visited two separate days this past weekend. If you've seen my other posts--you all know I'm cheap.. But--my cheap'ness was entertained so well at the sale that I didn't even try to make an offer the prices were so good. The only problem--I picked up BS ticket on my car for not having plate on it while parked along the street.. It was on the 31st.. Someone had to meet their quota it appeared..

Oh well-here are the pics..
Lots of great old tools. I've never had a need for a reamer before, but these were all heaped together so I collected them all from the mess of a basement. I've got more taps that I'll need in two lifetimes now..

View media item 37573
Here's more Bell System wire cutters, some very nice old Channellock cutters, and an odd tool there with the orange grips. If you can tell me what it is-I'd greatly appreciate it. It seems telephone specific. The fella who passed who's goods these once were was a collector of sorts for all things telephone, had some cool old switchboards and telephone handsets and of courses tools. His modest house had a telephone system wired in which could probably support a skyscraper worth of office phones/lines. The little red-handled lineman's pliers are some chromed Utica midgets. That little stubby screwdriver is an S-K Wayne. Also unsure of what specific use the blue-handled crimper was used for.

View media item 37574
Taps, some dies, and reamers, drillbits up the yee-yang.. Straight and tapered reams as well as adjustable ones.

View media item 37575
View media item 37576
That's a very cool old Millers Falls Bell System tacker which works perfectly, some old Craftsman (circle H) sockets, a brand new 1/2" to 3/4" Billing adaptor, Some unknown holders with a Billings No. 1 stamp, a small lathe chuck which possibly belonged to a small Craftsman lathe--no marks on it though. Each one of the dogs on the chuck is individually adjusted--And a nice small Jergen's steel handwheel which appears to have never been used.

View media item 37577
Couple of lathe square-drive chuck keys, more taps, some NOS Sears easy-outs, old roll of emery cloth.

View media item 37578
Old Millers Falls adjustable hacksaw handle as well as a cast-iron Union hacksaw handle for 8" blades, drill bits and some un-marked die holders. One small Bell-system flathead screwdriver.

View media item 37579
And..Grouping #2. A very nice old Cast-iron Stanley 18" level with protectors on the glass tubes, and an aluminum Stanley which has one broken bubble in it.. Really works fine still, but someone will probably only need it for a good straight-edge. Small Huot Drill Bit holder, Mitutoyo 1-2" Caliper, Nice number punches, and on and on and on..

View media item 37580
Craftsman vice grips which work exceptionally well, Bridgeport Bell-System screwdriver, Herbrand Tappet Wrench and Blue-Point Supreme open-end wrench.

View media item 37581
Here's a cool group of 6" rules from Brown & Sharpe, Starett, and others with some local Chicago advertising.

View media item 37582
Nice and SOLID Starrett drill/wire gauge which was brought back from the depths of Rustville, multi-adjustable compass, Emico plug-in Volt-meter which works perfectly, Stewart Warner tachometer for your tools which works perfectly, a vintage tire gauge, a nice batch of sharpening Stones, Millers Falls folding ruler, and some other goodies..

Oh man...so much Bell System goodness!! The orange handled crimpers are for b-wire connectors (splices). The blue pliers may be for coax connectors. I have a similar Bell System staple gun made by Heller. Unfortunately, the staples for it are made of unobtanium!
If you want to get rid of any of the Bell stuff, let me know!!

Hemifalcon, awesome haul! I like the Craftsman oval label items in the last picture, I think those are the bearing stands for a jackshaft system.

And I knew Jeff Moss would be all over the Bell stuff!

What are the craftsman bearing block things next to the jacks?

Lots of good stuff in that haul!

bluebolt is correct. They are for a jackshaft set up. I have a pair that drive a wire wheel.

Holy **** hemifalcon !!!!
The steel rules with the ads are super cool.
The tire gauge in the photo with the SW gauge looks identical to one I have.
the crystal hazed over and the face grew rust on it too. So I'm not sure if the faces are the same but the overall shape is.

Didn't buy anything from the local Restore, but they had a 'rainbow' craftsman stick welder if anyone is looking for one. I picked up a Monkey Wards stick welder last year or else it'd probably have gone home with me. They had it marked $55 send me a PM if you want the location.

Ok so heres my haul for the day. Mostly junk. A few SK, Thorsen, Kal, Greenlee and a **** ton of fiber optic install and pinout stuff. If you see anything that may interest you just ask and I can provide better pics. Mostly bought because for $50 the blower and trimmer are worth it. Everything else is bonus I think. Anyway onto the fun part.

I'd hardly call that haul junk.

Those specialty crimping tools cost a fortune new. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with what that stuff will bring. You even have a Panduit tie wrap gun back there.

You ****!!

You got some great stuff!! All kinds of crimpers, pin insertion/extraction tools, at least 6 pairs of electrician's snips...
I would be interested in the 2 electrician's pocket knives, depending on brand (top right, first picture)

this popped up on local CL during the big game sun nite. football bores me. mrs beat was in the house watching the game I was having some cold ones and frying buffalo wings in the garage:beer:
IMG_5501_zpscca6ac97.jpg

inbetween frying I was poking around on CL and GJ. this Blackhawk showed up. I texted the guy right away and said id meet him after work mon.
than I went online to research the box. brand new it's about $575. its still a current model. but on the proto site it doesn't say made in USA.
I got a little worried, but I had already committed to buy it.
I've been looking for a roller bearing box for months(even the huskys..no thanks)
he wanted $300 OBO. so I offered 250 and he said take it away.
not the deal of the century but i'm happy.
oh, yeah, the decal and stamping on the back say 2008 and made in canada:thumbup:
IMG_5502_zps8da25e20.jpg

IMG_5520_zps87d211c8.jpg

and yes, I want to remove the redskins decal, but mrs. beat is a lifelong fan and says it stays...she never gets to make the rules in the garage, but I might let her have this one:eek:

Dang Hemi, you hit them hard!! Must have had 4 extra hands carrying all that out

Hahah.. Nah--old man "Mike" in the basement of the house tossed me a huge aluminum bowl that I filled up with most of it it. Made it in one single trip.. The girlfriend grabbed some little furniture bits too for rehabbing..

Oh man...so much Bell System goodness!! The orange handled crimpers are for b-wire connectors (splices). The blue pliers may be for coax connectors. I have a similar Bell System staple gun made by Heller. Unfortunately, the staples for it are made of unobtanium!

Jeff--you've been contacted sir..

Yeah--those little pulley bushing/bearing blocks will be needing a new home..I know they'd make a great piece in a vintage shop for multiple connections for a ceiling fan down the road..

great haul hemi.
i had one of those stewart warner RPM gauges in the orig box.
like a dummy i sold or traded it a few years ago. oh,well.:dunno:

Yeah--I was surprised that was still at the house on day two.. Neat old piece which works perfectly!

What are the craftsman bearing block things next to the jacks?

Lots of good stuff in that haul!

This was one of those unexpected sweetspots.. But--I knew I was in trouble by how many guys were in front of me at the estate sale.. I'm not certain what was in some of the hoarders "piles"--but I don't mind digging through the trash.. That's where most of the good stuff is missed anyway..

I have no idea what those specialty crimping pliers are worth. I just know they're very expensive when new. I'd search Ebay for completed sales to get values.

Your Panduit tie wrap tool paid for the entire lot. Those go for $75-100 used!!

Not exactly a "Garage Sale" but the local Marshall's went out of business a few weeks ago and they just started selling off the shelves & fixtures. There was actually some good stuff - a huge old safe, some heavy duty shelving and file cabinets, some light duty cabinets, and I scored this for $50. A bight lighter duty then I would like, but I've been looking for a steel workbench I can use to fabricate a more beefy workbench in my garage and this will be a good start.

I picked up a Morgan 140 vise, Dexter knife steel, and a Foredom Sb-ECT-1 with No. 10 handpiece for $50.00 total.

Nice haul Hemifalcon. Was this the sale in Des Plains? My wife went, but it was too far for me to get to work on time after.

Yeah.. It was in Des Plaines--both days I was rushing to get back home in time for work.. And aside from the BS parking ticket--it was worth it!

Picked up some nice c clamps, some JH Willams, other unmarked. Love the paddle handles. Some of the punches are the C underline craftsman, a craftsman vice grip, no other markings. Pliers are Industro. Older CM 12" adjustable wrench, this makes around 6 or 7 that I have, for $ 2.00, why not?
Not garage sale, but I needed to fix my low pro CM ratchet, but as we know, no US stock in store, so I asked for he kit and they handed over one, US made!!!

I see a lot of new monikers on here. Welcome!
I also see a lot of suckage happening, most recently hemifalcon and JazRedGT. Good time to learn the fine art of wire wrapping, JazRed.
Went to a warehouse sale down the street from work yesterday. These two guys usually hold it on the weekend but got so much stuff in they postponed till Wed. They go down to Seattle and hit the storage auctions and bring it back to Blaine. One of the guys was telling me that this haul belonged to a drug dealer that got busted. Lots of great stuff but a little pricey. Here's the lowdown on the days finds:

Crossman 130 $5.00 (Sweet!)
Power Master 760 w/ Bushnell scope $5.00-same model and place I bought the last one.
Schrade Old Timer 770T carbon pocket knife-$free gift as a repeat customer.
Allen and Torx sets $1.00
Odd Aluminum box $1.00
Toshiba Laptop and boxed Win XP Pro $8.00-Worth it for the XP disk & key to me. (Still not a fan of 7).

Still need to post last weekends pickings.

I hit up a bunch of pawn shops in all across the city today. As usual most things were overpriced but I lucked into some great deals.

After 5 shops with no luck, I ran into something I was looking for. Matco 1/2 inch drive deep well metric sockets complete from 10mm - 19mm. After a little haggling I walked out with them for $30.
359zmdx.jpg

After a few more shops with with no luck I found this old craftsman tool box. Good condition with a few tools in it including the snap on screwdriver and a small German screw driver. The lady said $10 so I snagged it up. When I went to the counter the guy said, "Are you sure you want that old thing?" :dunno:
140m8sg.jpg

A few shops later I found these knipex cutters and dug through a bucket of junk wrenches and ended up pulling out a whole craftsman set from 8mm to 19mm. Total cost $12.

I saved the best for last. This was behind the glass counter and underneath the shelf against the wall, forgotten about I assume. 116 piece Irwin/Hanson, made in USA, tap and die set. No missing pieces and it looks like it was never used. When I got home I discovered the original Cornwell truck receipt for $429! When I asked the guy how much he said $100!!!!! I didn't even try to negotiate, just pulled out the cash and walked out of there with a huge smile. I have been looking for this exact kit for a long time!
