Not technically a garage sale buy. Just another ReStore purchase but thought that I'd share the little hammer that I picked up for 50 cents. Too cool to leave behind. My wife thinks it's cute. Am expecting that it will end up with her craft stuff.

Someone else had a pic of this just recently; the guy who inherited stuff. Amazing, it's an "As Seen On TV" product via 1940/50's. I guess we've come a long way from somewhat quality machined items to simple cheap **** of today.

I had time for one planned stop this morning, got the Baldor grinder and stand for $10, missing one tool rest and the glass for the eye-shields and the lights need to be rewired but it runs strong, the 1HP Baldor motor was also $10. The Petersen vise grip welding clamp was $2 and the 14” aluminum Ridgid pipe wrench was $3, everything else was .50 per piece. The smaller combo set is underlined logo Snap-on metric 13-19 (no 18) with two brand new 6 point 10mm's thrown in, the chisel is Millers Falls and the DBE is CMan, everything else is Klein, the combo’s are SAE 3/8”-1”.

You get a huge "you ****" on those Baldors!!

I only got a few things today: a Proto 408 8" c-clamp; a Wera SAE hex set; and a Columbian C43 1/2 anvil vise. $3, $5, and $5. I looked up the Proto clamp and apparently they're listed on Ebay for $40 or so. It's large, and it had a partner, whom I left behind. Doh!

I have one of those nesting screwdriver hammers. You start unscrewing the end and its like it will never stop having smaller and smaller screwdrivers to pull out!

Nine, really digging those 1/4" CMan sets man!

GP, nice score on the gun cabinet, I've been waiting for a deal like that on one for ammo storage.

Outlaw, that's a pretty good haul for a grab bag and a great old CMan box to boot. I too happened upon several sockets with COO of Sri Lanka today, a first for me.

Flyer, that is a great top chest, love the Vulcan badge!

Xcelite and Diamond pliers $2/ea, CM and Vise grip chain wrenchs $.75/ea, long jaw CM tin snips $.75, box of chuck keys $.75, jug of chainsaw bar oil $1. I'm not sure what that storage tube with brass end caps was for.

Vulcan top chest. Used but not abused. $30

Can you post a pic of the drawer slides when you get a chance please?

$3 for a USA made 8" C clamp and you left one behind? :headshake :bitchslap

Have several of those. Most are made buy the "GAM" Co. - Most I see the handles are brass.

It might have been me, but I think someone else also posted one.

I was fascinated with one my neighbor had when I was about 6 or 7...

Good score on that stuff Outlaw, killer Craftsman box, I have not seen that style. If that Craftsman crow foot is 3/8 drive 3/8 wrench and you want to sell it, I'm your buyer. I'm missing the 3/8, 11/16 and 3/4...

+ another 1: X 50 again!! Those guys rocked it :rocker:

Sorry Nine, the Crow's foot is a a 9/16, however, I do have a Spare -V- series in 3/8 available... Trade pile? ;)

If Dave won't part with the Craftsman Chain wrench, I have one in the original plastic bag (Crown top logs but the plastic snaps are broke, good bag other than that) but has a breaker/ratchet handle instead of the Crescent wrench handle. Let me know if you want it in your trade pile.

Well, garage sale season has officially started for me!
Went to two estate sales which could not have been any more different! The first one was well organized, all items priced, lots of fancy stuff in the house. The basement had a full woodworking shop, took pics of a few items.
The second was a mess, nothing priced...but good deals at both! I actually passed on some items, they had several hammers with broken handles that I just have no use for etc.

Sale #1
KC Seelbach linesman pliers
2 ballpeen hammers
Klein and Miller wire strippers/cutters

Sale #2
Crescent and SK screwdrivers
AIR-TUF magnetic screwdriver (will have to look this one up) needs a plastic cap
Craftsman flex spinner with a socket
Craftsman phillips
Proto tongue and groove pliers
Proto 1/4 short spinner

Spent 7 at the first sale and a whopping 2 at the second :)

Here is some of the other stuff from the first sale...also a woodworking bench for a cool 450 bucks, various small power tools, etc.

I'll take the -V- series, and since the chain wrench has a different style handle, put it in the trade pile too please! :D Be sure to let me know if you see anything you like in my posts, I have been listing a lot of things I get soon after I get them but will be happy to pull the listing for you/any of y'all towards a good trade.

Great score Jeff, glad it finally kicked off for you, things will be slowing around here for summer vacations etc so be sure to post so I can get my fix in :D

btw, did SK make any phillips drivers like those green/white you have, I can't recall finding any in my travels but I run in to the flat frequently.

Here are the highlights from the tool box goodies. Bessey quick clamp, Klein ratchet wrench, DUNLAP wrenches 1/2 & 5/8, AK/SKS cleaning kit, S-K 3/8 ratchet, Crescent 1/2 ratchet. Right side is keepers, 14" upholstery shears :scared: CL 460 and smaller ones, two more pair of Petersens and my first ever Craftsman RHFT in a 1/4 drive, now I just need a 1/2 drive :rocker: There was also a set of metric Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches in regular and stubby but those have been listed and put away.

Today's finds.... Came across a Wilton Vise, No 101157 on one jaw. I am guessing that is the number. Works great and is very smooth, just need to take off the crazy Latex paint! I paid $40 for it! Also added a Craftsman Crown top toolbox in pretty damn perfect shape, except for the fact that the clasp is missing a bar, not sure how I will fix that, but could not pass it up for an additional $5.

MrBrooks, Thanks I was not sure what that number stood for. I did see the keyway you were talking about and will greased up. Have a lot of paint removal to do first! Thanks again!

just to make sure you understod what I meant. before the resto, clean off that keyway and tell us the numbers stamped on it (so we may celebrate for you). Those involve the date the vise was made and or the warranty expired.

So jealous of you guys, I haven't gotten out to a sale in 2 weeks... barely had time to look for anything either...

I have a huge project ahead of me. My buddies dad passed last fall, who was a welder for years, but other odds and ends... I get to sell off the 1/2 pallet of tools and full pallet of Nascar stuff for the estate. So far I've brought most of the tools home, still two or three boxes down there I didn't snag yet:

My buddy told me to keep an eye out for electricians tools for him, and let me know if there's anything I want to keep... I spotted one of these:
armstrong12973ratchet.jpg

and told him there's no shot of me selling it. 15" 1/2" drive Armstrong rat. Mostly everything else is Craftsman with other stuff mixed in. It's gonna take a while to get through that mountain....

Mr. Brooks, Thank you, I was clueless on what you meant! now that I understand , I did as you said and I found the following numbers...... 2 93 and under the adjusting "crank" was 900073 2 93 . The obvious thing jumping out to me is that it was made Feb 1993? Then again, I don't want to assume. Does it make a difference as to when it was made?

Thanks for the help!!!

Nope doesn't make a lot of difference, around here it's just nice to see a vise and know when it was born, you know like showing your kids to strangers! There was a time that the date was 5 years after it was manufactured (warranty expiration), but I believe there was a time they switched over to stamping date of manufacture.

Good luck on the resto should be an easy one. Plenty of vise resto threads here to build inspiration!

@zkling, photos of the drawer slides. There is no rivets etc. sticking through to the interior of the drawers.

Today was a bust. 3 sales in the paper and all 3 were not there. Beautiful sunny and 70 degrees out too.
Found one sale and only got a can of NAPA Know How out of the free pile.
Pretty sure its broken though. It won't talk no matter what I try!

All from a private estate sale that started today. (I love private estate sales and loathe ones run by professionals).

All this was $15.

A bunch or old tools like giant corkscrews, cleavers, etc
