Actually, she is down with the hoard, and the school bus I want to bury back there later. We got that for the neighbors

My run was a dud. An old crappy skeleton key for SWMBO was it. Not even a good one.

and I got the same story: "All the tools and camping gear wet before we even opened while we were setting up!"

Finally got a pic of the last of the tool-type stuff I brought home from Idaho. the family picked a few items like small yard gnomes, wind chimes and a few other small interior decorating things. I also got a new folding campfire grill and one old heavy dock or boat pole, with a newer graphite reel. All else got sold, given away, or donated to the local thrifts. (two loads). I also sold the Mobile Home itself, so I'm done in Idaho. It only took 6 months, so not too bad.

The big rasp has seen better days, but My Dad probably used it while he was working with horses. for hoof work, so i kept it. I don't know if the ice cream scoop is old, but I liked it. a couple more long drill bits that I missed back in March, there are actually 2 rolls of solder, but I need to find the other one. the sharpening stone went to my son, a couple more "cable cuffs", and some cable ties.

Not sure how my tape landed in the pic; I guess I was just tired... (4 day trip: drove up Sunday, prep for the estate sale, a few hours of sleep, more prep and opened at 10 on Monday, sold all day Monday, and again on Tuesday starting at 8, and was buttoned up, closed, and the remainder taken to the thrifts, and reloaded to go home before 4 pm. of the second day Then :3gears: drove to Reno before getting a couple of rooms at the Ramada. Then finished the drive home on Wednesday and unloaded... While the estate sale rolled, I visited my dad's bank, closed the accounts, and closed the MH sale, and even had to make a second trip to a notary with the buyer to get some paperwork signed...)

Nine: the shipping containers work best for extra storage if you can fit one or two back there and you won't have to keep air in the tires. or keep the old chewing gum off your old gems you hide under the seats. :bounce:

Man does she have a sister?? buys you a house with a huge detached garage, then down with the hoarding and likes garage sales too. you must have been at the right garage sale at the right time that day.:thumbup::thumbup:

so you don't like the paintjob on the new Aviatar i found and would rather have my old rusty tin knocker's anvil sitting there? My avitar will look even better when it's my vise and probably my Wilton 606 SJ swivel jaw vise thread i started a thread on because pretty sure Wilton didn't make the vise and just had their name cast on it.

Outlaw: happy to hear you made it back safely and i'll be sending you a surprise package soon. i do also like the ice cream scoop too.

have a safe and happy 4th guys and best of luck on the holiday weekend sales if there are any good ones to be had.

I would love some shipping containers but they are so expensive, I could pick up a non-running bus for $250-350 at the school board auction in Nov or Mar, part out the drive line and end up with a free bus. A good running bus is only $800-900 but in all seriousness, I would not bury a bus back there. I just want a lean to on the back side for outside storage and I'll be happy.

Here is my holiday score, guy just listed it for $80 and I shot a $40 offer. He instantly refused so I said if he changes his mind, or would like to do some trading to get back with me. He hit me up 10 mins later and said for $50 I could have it. I just got home with it, it works with my new Red lithium batteries so if by some chance these batts don't hold charge, I'm still in business.

i was going to ask the same question about the phone line and how you plug it in for power or do you just plug it in the computer and tell it to work for you.:bounce:

Drives, the guy described it in the ad as "looks to be unused" but I can tell by the plastic keyless chuck that someone had their paws on it a couple times at least. It's almost unused for sure.

Rick, I have one of these sanders already that I use all the time, paid full price a few years back. It will be nice to have different grits and not have to swap out paper as frequently now. For the price, I could not pass it up.

Today was a very good day. I was able to meet up with Flatintoone aka Rick who was in town for the holiday weekend visiting family. We met up at a local flea market and I traded the PowrKraft Cantilever box I had picked up last week for a Whitman & Barnes drill index Rick had listed on Ebay ,we had exchanged Pm's back and forth during the week.
It was great to meet a fellow GJ'er in person.
My flea finds are Williams S-52 & B -52 Superratchets, A Klein 65820 flat handled ratchet 1/2" dr, an SK Wayne 3/8" ratchet ,2 Williams sockets, A Wright deepwell socket, wrenches from Challenger,Kobalt,Williams ,Indestro and Vadmonium(Germany).
I think my total today was $51 but a vendor at the FM had a sign up that they buy& sell lead .They make/sell alot of fishing tackle. Asked how much they were paying and they shot back 0.50/lb...the local scrap yard had quoted 0.40/lb so I was ahead and marched out to the truck and carried in 52 lbs of lead and walked out with $26.
Had the pleasure of hanging out and picking with Flat and that alone made for a great day. He gifted me the PLVMB pliers pictured below as an exchange for the extra PK stuff I put in the toolbox. Thanks Flat!!!

My score for today. Weed Eater blower and string timmer and a Craftsman weedwhacker with plastic blades. All for a grand total of FREE!
Guy said he switched to cordless battery tools and wanted them gone. 2 of them just need some recoil starter lubrication and one needs a new string head.

Like alinc said above, we met up to do some trading and picking at one of his local FMs. Pics and a complete list will have to wait until I'm home, but the PK boxes and goodies are great. From the flea market, my scores included John Deere, P&C, and SK ratchets, a Blue Point tool for Wright airplane engines, and many many more.
As always, it's a lot of fun to meet and talk with other GJ'ers in person! Alinc, thanks for saving what looked to be a tool-free weekend!

Behind in the posts and was reminded by alinc's drill index find. I came across this Craftsman drill stand and a Star nail cup at a sale a couple weeks back, along with a box of other miscellaneous hand tools.

Today got the Williams Palmster, a Marinco 20 amp locking plug and 20 sets of protective felt (felt was free) for $5 off a craigslist ad. At a yard sale spent $26 on a Dietz lantern with red globe (hairline crack along back side), glass oil container with two Master screw on spouts, and an older Chilton small engine book to use for working on an old Lausen motor I found at a farm sale this winter.

At the same sale the lantern came from another gentleman had a batch of industrial locks he saved from the trash heap years ago when Bethlehem Steel closed here in Pennsylvania. I got a couple smaller ones, but thinking of jeffmoss, asked for a bundle price, and he said $65, including the small box of brass padlocks in top right of photo. But more interesting may be that he had saved several parts cabinets, so I got his number and will call and visit him when I can get up his way. I'll take photo and post cabinets in a couple weeks.

I did not get any of the large locks, but the two large rectangle locks are keyed the same and all of the round American locks are also keyed the same.

Alinc and Bryan those are both cool drill indexes.

This morning was slim with my first three stops yielding only a new Klein 3/8” nut driver and a roll of electrician’s tape for $1. The last stop was one of my regulars and he had 4 small boxes to dig through so I picked out a set of 6 Proto DOE wrenches from 3/8”-1” with the pebble finish around the size markings, two Petersen vise grips, complete Imperial tubing flaring kit with box, box of 1/8” short reach pop rivets, ½” drive 9/16” CMan G series socket, Beckers Best Beer bottle opener, New Britain fine double-cut pocket file, Blackhawk 3/8”-7”16” DBE wrench and an ABC body hammer marked “Drop Forged, Pat. Pending”. Paid $15 for this bunch.

Lots of nice scores people! And it's always fun to hear when GJ members can meet up!:thumbup::thumbup::beer:

Semi quiet holiday weekend but:

Second stop (First was a BS "tools" ad... an Allen and some hardware? really?... ), First score of the day; Not tools, but SWMBO was extremely happy with this lamp, first she asking "OK how much did THAT cost?" with just a hint of "the tone" (she was expecting it to be like a hundred bucks she later admitted)

"I paid $7"

"REALLY? FOR THAT? REALLY?" (she still sounds like she's not happy...)

That's incredible! What a great deal! (hug and a kiss; congratulating me. she will say things about good deals, but that was a first! :dunno:  )

attachment.php

Now she's trying to decide where to put this Tiffany style lamp. and yes, the shade is real stained glass soldered together... ****** heavy. Not a real Tiffany, but not cheap junk either...)

Second score, third stop; 2 1/2" Impact adn 3 Chrome Wright Socets, 1/8 long drill bit, Vise Grips, Greenlee gear wrench (Gearwrench made? :dunno:), Proto Combo, a SO Universal, and SK & Indestro Sockets, plus a Japanese puzzle stash box!

Anyone know how old the box might be; and what the final finish is? Shellac, or vanish? (I suspect Shellac)

A bit more to come:

Went to the Flea Market today for the first time in a long time. I think I did OK for the day. Sorry for the atrocious cell phone pictures.

First stop was made while I was looking for one of the regular sellers that always has machinist tools. I found another table instead. This guy's prices seemed pretty good so I snatched up a few things I've been looking for. I believe they were his personal tools that he was selling off. He was an old war vet named Mike :)

photo1_zpsc21bba2c.jpg

I paid $38 for the mics and the v-blocks. He said he was happy that someone actually knew what the stuff he had was lol.

The next stop was the vendor that I was initially looking for. I brought with me a Pratt & Whitney button back indicator to see if he was interested in trading for something more useful to me. I had originally picked up the button back at Goodwill for around $15. He agreed to a trade and I got myself a Starrett Last Word test indicator for an even swap. The 1/2" Proto breaker bar was an additional $6.

photo2_zps53ee6238.jpg

The next stop was just a random vendor selling coins and possibly gemstones. I noticed a few things in his $1 bin that caught my eye. One was a 10mm SK wrench and the other was this DOE Bridgeport wrench. I liked it because it has metric marked on one side and SAE on the other.

photo3_zpsff49ac8e.jpg

photo4_zps62e94e26.jpg

The next stop was what I considered one of the better ones. I overheard the guy saying he got most of the stuff from house clean-outs. Found a toolbox tray full of misc sockets. I would have looked around a little longer but the fiancee and the baby were starting to get restless. These were all the USA sockets that I could find. $3 total.

photo1_zpsed0f44e6.jpg

photo2_zpsc4c8815b.jpg

The last stop was very similar to the first stop. They were both possibly older war vets selling off their own stuff. $10 got me a Sarrett hole & acme thread gauge, some 1/4" SK sockets and a 3/4" Snap-on wrench (my first Snap-on tool other than the vintage socket set found a few weeks ago).

photo3_zps6bf4aaee.jpg

This last picture was a "shed find" over at my fiancee's family's house. I was looking around for a Portaband that my fiancees biological dad thinks he may have left behind when he moved when I stumbled across an old rusty toolbox. It was mostly full of hardware, old spark plugs and misc. junk, but there were a few tools though. I asked her stepfather if they were his (he's not very handy so I figured that they weren't) and he said they must have been my fiancees dad's old stuff. Rather than let them rust away in the shed I figured that I'd take them home, clean them up and use them. I'll be sure to ask him if he wants them back but I'm pretty sure that he'll be OK with it. He is much more of a wood worker anyways. The 1/2" deep sockets filled in some gaps in my trays nicely!

photo4_zps7f0ab296.jpg

That's all for today but we're going back tomorrow so the fiancee can pick up some old handles for a sliding barn door project that we're working on. Hopefully I can pick up some more deals!

You guys are killing it!! Lots of great things for me to  at! Only two sales listed for this morning so I chose to sleep in, probably should have gotten up by looking at your scores but at least I saved some gas money and spending cash for auction next weekend.

Neat stuff guys! I have a couple batches of "second-hand garage sale finds" that the mailman just brought me!

MK3Mike, I noticed an Enderes screwdriver handle, you can order the tube and bits from them directly and rebuild yourself a working screwdriver.

Persistence pays off! It only takes one sale to find the good stuff but you have to walk through ****, barefoot and uphill both ways to find it :lol_hitti
