Nice find on the ratchet

Everybody I have a question. How do you value used corded drills in the used market. Do you go off of new price even though the new ones are often made of inferior parts and in third world countries. The reason I ask is because I'm stating to want to build up my power tools and I picked up a nice used Bosch 3/8 drill b6100 today for 25 dollars which I feel like is a good price but is it? I'm just wanting to get a feel on prices based on condition and such because I've primarily bought used hand tools so far not so much power tools so far.
The drill I bought for 25 dollars.

The Craftsman vise is a 5242, I put it inside the large C clamp to show size comparison. I will have to measure the clamp tomorrow, its huge at least 12" across.

Rusty, usually I would google the part number and go from there, see if there's anything on ebay or amazon... in your case, nothing, but, a boat ton of parts! new that probably went for over $100, and it looks like it's in good shape, so you probably made out well at $25.

4 dollars at the local pawnshop. Found in the dump bins where you dig through and sometimes find gold. Mostly metric. Picked up the 13mm for working on mom's car when I get the alternator in. The toyota stuff just because I had never seen them. The proto because it is proto. The 10 and 11mm is indestro. Between the vise I just posted in the other thread and these I think I spent roughly 18 dollars with tax. Not a bad haul.

Scored this awesome stainless steel cart yesterday. It's perfect for a moveable work area, at least for me.
Best part, FREE!

I have that same cart, minus the monitor. I got it for the same price too. My cousin got it for me, they were throwing it away at his job (a large pharmaceutical co.) :)

poet- nice batch for 4 clams.
my local pawn shop usually charges a buck a wrench.

i had nothing better to do on my lunch break today so i stopped at my local pawn shop. i cherry picked a few good wrenches but put 'em all back in a place i can find 'em later..maybe:lol:
i did keep a britool made in england whitworth wrench. cost me a buck.
i dont presently own a car or bike that has whitworth fasteners, but ya never know when i may have to wrench on one or just maybe i'll own one someday:beer:

i'm kinda daydeaming, but i have owned british cars and motorpickles

Nice finds Silent!

Thanks, The pawn shop is a mixed bag, but I like to check it out. I once got a 12mm mac wrench there for 50 cents. But more often they have junk. They had some quality sockets, but I am not sure which ones I need. I try to go every payday or so. They have a bunch of over priced stuff and some good bargains. My chop saw was 39 bucks from them, an OK deal for one that was hardly used. And I got a nice stout olympic style barbell for 20 some. I couldn't get it to bend with 600 plus pounds. Got my welder and compressor there now that I think of it. Not great deals, but OK stuff.

Waggoner72 and dngrmse >> You should both feel ashamed of yourselves for not paying for those SS carts. Very nice.

Bought these today... have no use for such large wrenches but they look cool... $5 a piece and the old Craftsman miter box for $10. I wonder how old the E. W. Bliss wrench is...

Nice finds Organ!

The Miter box is a good one for manual cutting I have I thing three of them; one I've been using for 30 + years for fine detail work. with a good quality SHARP back saw (24 to 26 inch) they are really nice to have around. I mounted mine to a piece of oak, and glued/screwed an upside down "T" block (actually two pieces...) for the workmate to grip.

Thanks for the info, guys. Outlaw, does the miter box look to be missing any parts? I've never owned one...

Post a few more pics (including the bottom). It looks complete from the top pic. There should be two angle locks: if you grip a bottom tab you should be able to swing it to preset angles milled in the bottom arc. There will also be a friction lock for odd angles.

What is usually missing are the top guides. Yours look like they are there.

Good day today, i think, picked all you see here for $120. Set of craftsman wrenches, set of small Herbrand wrenches, snap on and craftsman sockets, some cool ratchets, sk screw drivers, black and decker electric impact driver, nice old clamp, all those screws, milwaukee 9" and 4.5" grinders and a 3.5" swivel top Prentiss .

Joe, where's a pic of the Prentiss? And I see what looks like an inner Wilton swivel base ring too. What size is it for?

I dunno about that Outlaw, this CM mitersaw on da bay shows this for the top guide, and my Stanley 150 has this...

Organ, my ggrandfather's miterbox was rusted so badly huge flakes would chip off if you looked at it too hard. All I could do was mount it for display. I hope yours is restorable.

I'm fairly certain the craftsman one does not have top rails. I have the exact same box and looked it up in the catalog once. IIRC those small boxes use only the plugs for the saw guides.

Yep, different designs from different suppliers, I think that Craftsman one you posted was a much later era.

I'll try to get pics later when I'm home (depends on what other's have planned for me, as I'm off for two weeks once I'm out of here...)

I saw an ad for a silent auction for a small electronics factory that was closing. It started at noon and bidding closed at 1:30. The opening bids were really cheap and hardly anyone showed up to bid.

I won 6 grab bags of tools for $5 ea and a couple really nice commercial quality draftsman chairs for $5/ea. ($40 total spent)

The grab bags:

And what was inside. There was more inside but this was the good stuff. All the pliers/cutters were Lindstrom, Swanstrom and Klein. The tweezers are Swiss. The tie wrap tools are all high end like Panduit and Greenlee.

P1040452.jpg

The draftsman chairs:

P1040453.jpg

They had a ton of really nice workbenches/workstations that went for a mere $25/ea but I have no need.

From an estate sale this morning, but I had to buy them from another GJ member who got there before me. All of this plus a Dazor that I found for about $140. Two complete SK Wayne socket sets, the rest is Wright. I've never seen a carry box like this for Wright.
