Hit the last flea market of the year today - can't make it tomorrow so this will be my last entry in 2014.

All this was $5 from one vendor.

- Set of 6 nutdrivers from Stevens-Walden from Worcester Mass. Spintite brand, very nice condition, sizes from 7/32 up to 9/16
- S-K green-handled screwdriver
- Lot of 3 Xcelite nutdrivers, 1 short handled and 2 long
- Pair of hex sockets, I always try and pick these orphans up when I see them

With that skinny handle, I think that it might be a wedge with a handle that's used to hold it in position while someone strikes it with a sledge.

That makes sense too, the rear of it is overly beefy.

My $20 haul from a second hand store that I continually have good luck at. I got a CMan come along (USA), a General NO 810 plane and chisel sharpener (usa), I had no idea what it was for when I bought it, some Billings USA wrenches, one Vlceck (may have misspelled) USA wrench, and some unknown USA double box end offset wrenches, some SK USA sockets, Utica USA cutters, two unmarked hammers and a few other goodies. One of the s shaped Billings wrenches is Marked U.S.S., I am not sure if it is a military stamp.

Hit up the local flea market today. Came away with a few Plomb tools to add to the collection.

Plomb Proto 5476 1/2" Drive 9/16 Universal Socket
Plomb 5279 3/8" Drive 3/4" Universal Socket
Plomb 5260 3/8" Drive 3 1/4" Extension
Plomb 5345 1/2" Drive 3/4" Deep Well Socket
Plomb 5022 3/8" Drive 11/16" Short Socket.

Gave $17 for it. Wasn't a real good deal but cheaper than Ebay.

Mudman, some of my dads old wrenches were marked U.S.S. I was never sure if it was for US SHIP or US Steel. I suspect the later.

U.S.S. = U.S. Standard
An early sizing system that referred to the bolt rather than the head/nut size we use today.

Antique shop find:

Proto "Professional" 3/8 drive deep socket set, SAE (missing 3/4) and box, $9.

Armstrong "Armalloy" 1 1/16" combo, $1.50
Armstrong "Armalloy" 1" combo, $1.00

Left on the rack were some rusted up Proto combos from 1 1/8" through 1 3/8" for $2.50 each. I might go back, but I have those sizes in newer USA brands.

Went to look at a Craigslist toolbox that was better in the pics than real life so I passed. On the way home I decided to hit a few pawn shops.

Stop 1. 24mm Craftsman deep and long C Craftsman Vanadium wrench. $2

Stop 2. Craftsman Pearlitic ***********, Cincinnati wingnut and Craftsman C-clamps and P&C 100 open mechanism 1/4" drive ratchet. $11

Stop 3. Vermont American toolbox with tray, Blackhawk wrench Challenger adapter and wrenches, Craftsman sockets, nutdriver and wrench, Proto deepwell socket, Ridgid USA screwdriver, Snap On Vacuum Grip dykes, Stanley screwdrivers and Xcelite nutdriver. In the background are the Taiwan and China tools that will go back in the toolbox for a garage sale. $13
What brand is the oil filter wrench in pic #4? That is the style I always preferred when I used to do oil changes. I haven't seen one in years.

So Nine, you were nominated to start the new 2015 thread and there were several seconds/votes to the nomination, are you accepting? or just ignoring us?

Thanks Jeff.

Outlaw, seems like just last week you started this thread. Man did this year fly by. It's beena good year though. Got my lathe, just need a little more tooling. I think I can back off the vises and block grinders................ when they pry my iPad with " estate sales.net " page out of my cold dead hands.:lol_hitti

Yeah we should probably have that discussion about who fires the 2015 thread up on New Years eve...

Hmmm, I think I nominate Nine!

I was going to wait until after x-mas to bring the topic up.

I 2nd the nomination of the esteemed member from Baton Rouge to open the 2015 Garage Sale Thread. I've planned on putting his name in the hat ever since he scored that Mag Drill.

I say Nine too! He's had a dang cool year!

I cast my vote for nine too.
Great pick.

Nine - ^^^ what he said ^^^
Did we scare you off ?

Only 1 moving sale today. I knew it was going to be a bust, but I went anyway to get out of the house. All the rooms in the CL pictures were too clean. The house was staged like it came out of a magazine. No joy again this weekend.

Well. Just in case Nine is seeking more approvals. I second the nomination. It seems to me he had an awesome 2014. His starting the 2015 thread could bring more of the same for everyone.

Found one item at my favorite resale shop this week. I actually saw this before Christmas and had to go back afterward to get it before someone else did. Since I love edged weapons of all types and this has some age to it I think it deserves to be rescued and refurbished. $13.50
A Martindale No. B335 Machete. It's seen better days for sure. The blade needs a thorough finishing and a sharp edge. The handle needs total replacement as well. It looks like the original broke off and someone just put two simple blocks of wood on it actually using nails bent over to hold the handle halves together.

I was just offered a couple items from a super nice guy I just bought something from. I'm not going to post anything until I pick it up but I'm extremely excited to pick it up.

I went to my favorite p-shop and got a mayhem radiator hose clamp plier set with the remote wire on the end, snappy 1-1/6 socket (3/8ths drive) p&c 5/16ths combo wrench, wise straight snips for $20. That socket seems like an odd size for a 3/8ths drive and also it appears that the socket only fits on 1/2 the nut?? It has not been ground on and is in nice shape so I know that is how it was made. It has the older snappy script from the 70's-80's. Edit-after some searching looks to be a snappy oil pressure sensor socket for domestic vehicles 1984 and below.
