That buff is way too large for a 1/2hp machine. What belt / disk sanders did they have?

probably why it shakes like a mother  though that model did have 7" factory.

I didn't pay much attention to them, because I don't know where I'd put it yet, but a few were delta's and I was eyeing up a 6" wide one on a stand. Most of them are on stands, there's also a few welders and a huge dayton bench grinder as well.

It's not just the diameter, but the width of the buff or any wheel for that matter that causes extra load on the motor. Especially with a loose buff like that, a soft hand and that is an accident waiting to happen. I'd go check out the belt/disk sanders, more useful than multiple bench grinders. Sounds like a fun place to shop.

OK Ill check it out, I went to the section from Clasville PA to around untiontown PA in mid 2013, but that wasright before l went in for my cancer operation, noe my blood test that chesks cancer, called CEA is High again, its not a good sigh. I was still taking stuff out of the car December 2013, cause a lot of it stayed in the car when I was in the hospital.
Maybe l better not buy no more stuff till I see, But, man, that was a great sale, all the way from claysville PA, through Washington PA, there was a big going on's festiable type of deal, in Claysville PA
I got a lot of neat stuff cheap that time, I got a rusted up old cornwell ratchat, and my little stubby 3.8 cornwell, was giving me trouble,I had brought that off the truck years ago, so for about $6.00 postage, cornwell warrantied both of them. I got another cornwell that time too, for a buck or two, but it was the kind you hip a hole with a bunch, or use a spanner wrench, and I cleaned it up, and oli-greased it, it was fine.
Hope I don't have to have a grarge sale,

I don't usually like to use fowl lanuage on here, It don't make you all cool or bad ***,
But gyus I have to say.......................**** THIS!!
I am even leaving the typos, that is not me, I think they ,make *Me* look Dumb.
I had to take my disability, so i wasn't able to buy the new Road king I was wanting, or the House I was wantging to buy before I got sick, but I was starting to be happy, and enjoying my retirement fooling around with wood work, a little (Damm little .....LOL) metal work, and buying and restoring power and hand tools. And fooling with mt tread mill motors putting them on to power tools. *I just got another Tread mill at Good will ,said As Is,
but yesterday and the day before, i stripped it down, and tested the motor, Smooth as silk it is.
I will have to start a thread about the board, I have never seen it, before.
No, it's not your typical MC-60. not a little Merrimac either, I don't know.
Sorry, I am rambling, Shut up Anthony, A, OK, i will......................LOL

I need to stay positive I know.
Sorry to go on about all this here, but I am pretty well alone here, in this city.

Edit, thanks mike,

Think positive. I have two older sisters and younger brother who was 32 when diagnosed. They are all still here and fighting. Hope you get well and enjoy your retirement to the fullest. I do the same things in my garage that you do and enjoy. Good luck and God bless

Sorry, what brand or did you say already?

I got a few cool "non Tool" things, my low on memory mind has seemed to
mis-placed my camera. l'm pretty sure its in the shop., l put it up in a "good"place. (as in so good I cant even find it)
I have my newer one, but the cord (USB) from the Camera to the PC isn't working any longer, (Its not the cord, tried a new one)
And have to use a card reader.
You guessed it, (maybe) Right;can't find it either.:willy_nil <-<-<-<- this "fellow" best describes me right now!

not to hi-jac but l have the big old orange HF buffer, the guy assured me it was fine, and he hardly used it.
Call me crazy, but there have been times l have trusted a guy from e bay or craigs list gotton a good feeling about him, and brought something sight un seen.
Case in point the buffer, and my cicra 1947 unisaw.
Its .again, the big old orange buffer HF sold, don't think they sell that one any more, l have heard good reviews about it.
and It came with I think it;s HF too, a grinder stand...................$30.00.
The uni was sweet. no problems, and the grinder is (buffer) is sweet l am sure, (Positive thoughts.....)........................ but the seller wasn't home when I picked it up, I was gonna ask his wife to let me plug it in, but the plug was messed up, I called the guy, (I was picking it up from his back yard) and (no actually, sorry , its the wire was cut in two) asked him Whats up w/the wire, but it had been tucked in the stand post, he said he wasn't sure, and assured me it worked, he just never used it like he thought he would. (he offered to send my some back I said its all good.
I really need to get that tested, but still running power back there, (the "overflow area" my buddy calls it,) and have to fix the wire still.
can't stay down there as long as I used to, and other projects were first in line.
To wit, Sweetest young girl in the world, now if she's really like this all the time, and not just with her patients, if i could go in a time machine (just me now, not her.......LOL) I would Pester her till she agreed and Marry her.........................LOL
But anyways, no time machines that l know of yet,
(shut up anthony, .....OK).................................
anyways she is a student from morgantown doing an internship at the PT dept here in the hospital.Really really nice girl though, but Friday is her last day.
I am making a country style wall shelf like you see at the flea markets, made of pine, with the roughly cut out heart, but using oak or walnut, not sure yet, but I make them furniture quality. I already ran my mouth to her boss, and said tot not tell Jacki, so I will look like a B/S'r if I don't come through. wow, for somebody that says he hates to type, this got long.
I hate it I tell you, I contend I Hate IT!!!!!:lol_hitti
if you still reading and didn't say STFU yet,
thanks,

Not exactly a garage sale, but a friend/relative works for a metallurgical think tank type business and he's been busy cleaning out some of their storage units. I posted a week or two about some steel he brought me, and he's brought me about 500# of 12" x 12" steel plate hunks, two milk crates of steel bar pieces, even some heavy copper plate pieces, which have already made great heat sinks for welding sheet metal.

Well today, he called and said they had priced all of the stuff in the storage units, so I met him over there.

Here is what I came home with:
Miller Filtair 130 welding fume extractor/filter. In excellent condition, no hose or hood, but I got it for only $200

Portable, folding welding table ($20):

Two 4' x 7' welding screens, with steel tube frames - one on wheels ($10 each):

Parallel plate screw lift - about 12" square ($20):

A box of pieces of UniStrut, lengths vary from 24" to 30" with some brackets and spring nuts included ($10):

And a couple of 1" thick 8" x 6" copper plates.

I may sell the fume extractor, or I may rig up a hanging hose/small hood setup to use on my main welding table.
I plan to modify the welding screens by cutting up the frames and making a four-section folding screen frame that the screens will attach to.
damn. man you Killed on that deal...................:3gears:smoking deal

My surgeorn told me to just chill till the 15, I have/had a CT scan coming up. He said a slightly high(er) CEA number was not written in stone that It is back, and just try to relax.
This guy is good, he is at morgantown WV, Ruby memorial.
Dr Jon (no H) cardinal, he knows his ****, and is 100% busniss, don't joke around too much, although l did get him to laugh a few times.
Told him l would Kiss him if he took that damn tube out of my stomach sooner than later, that goes up through your nose. and down your throat, and in to your stomach. EG, or no, ENG maybe, tube l think they call it.
Thank you guys for "going off topic " and wishing me well.

Slipped over to the flea market on 6/2/2015 to look through the old tools of one of the vendors.

Pic 1&2--Came up with three (3) PROTO Professional 1/2" Dr. Oil Filter Removal Tools, with two marked as 2304, while the other is marked 2304B. All Metal and USA Heavy Duty. Two still had hand written bin tags, so its possible that none of them may have ever been used. Pat. No. on all three is 3,119,290

Pic 3&4--New Britain VL-139 for placing split cone valve spring retainers in position on valve stem. Pat. No. 2,091,500

Not a garage sale, but an online auction with a vise that I wanted. In addition, I had to clean off the workbench and shelves above the bench. In addition to what's shown below, there was a Craftsman mouse detail sander in the case with several sandpaper pads. That's on the way to my daughter in VA.

Work apron by Duluth Trading.

The paint cans are all full.

Plenty of cable ties.

Nice Stanley hacksaw.

I seem to find a number of oil cans lately.

Finally, the vise.

I was surprised to find the original handle.

Must live closer to 8mile or the north side of livonia.. all dry down here near the rouge - natural drainage modified by man working wonders.

South of 96 in Livonia. Possible collapsed storm pipe under the house. Having a plumbing company with camera scope come by today to prove what is wrong.

I was able to snake it enough on Sunday to drain what was there, but I couldn't get very far.

ServPro was out yesterday to remove the damaged drywall and put 8 big dryers and a dehumidifier down in the basement.

Went to pick up a crappy sears (modern) bench grinder today, but when I got there I found this: first all the steel rounds you see here are Stainless, 5/8ths down to 3/16th, but I also picked up 2 5' 3/16ths pieces of titanium rounds as well. Paid $50.00 for everything, grinder and rounds.

I also saw this table. 34" X 48" slotted steel table. $400 and it weighs 1400 lbs. Trying to figure a way to get it here.

That *****, sorry to hear that man. I run a dehumidifier year round in mine - afaik no exterior storm drain system around my foundation, no sump pump either - the benefits of all sand.

My house is at the highest point in the sub. All sand, too. Because so much of Wayne County is reclaimed swamp, the primary consideration was that I would NOT buy any home that required a sump pump. Our sewers were redone 3 years ago to separate sanitary from storm drains. My foundation storm drains were disconnected over 25 years ago.

Thanks,

I usually run a dehumidifier most of the year as well. Confirmed that our problem is a broken storm trap. I just hope I don't have to lose my bathroom's walls during the demo.

My dad's house (East of Lake Michigan) is on top of nothing but sand which is great except when trying to keep his lawn green.

Could you get some more info on the sanders? Looks like I am local too.

I bought these at a garage sale this morning for $35.00.
A box of mostly older craftsman sockets, ratchet and small breaker bar. Also a few snap on sockets, sk wrench, sk sockets, bonney socket, wright socket. A kant twist clamp and a snap on ratchet. A couple of otc wrenches. All in a neat homemade box.

Slipped out on Thurs (6/4) to hit some yards sales.

Most of what I got was supplies for the shop (i.e. nice assortment of USA made sandpaper in various grits, along with couple bags of steel wool).

Did pick up an old back saw with Warranted Superior medallion with "Dieu Et Mon Droit" on it. In addition, the frame on blade said Sheffield and Cast Steel.
