Bigcaddy congrats that is one stellar looking Blackhawk set!

Ratsofftoya  congrats on the roto ratchet. I found one today but it ain't pretty like yours.

I hit two estate sales today and one had a great variety of old USA tools. Downside was many were well worn and not worth buying but I still did pretty good.

Pic 1- all 4" adjustables ( been lying to myself that I don't collect them )

Pic 2- All Vulcan and Williams wrenches

Pic 3- misc. 1/4" drive

Pic 4- Snap On air chisel bits, misc punches, Williams torque wrench, buck bros chisels, Japan folding screwdriver, Eiffel pliers, blue point snap ring pliers, Wright breaker bar, s-k roto ratchet, Hornet ratchet, Williams flex sockets, Husky t handle, etc.

Pic 5- S-K 3/8 roto, Hornet(Williams) 3/8 ratchet
Pic 6- S-k stubby and stubby bit driver, screwball key chain driver

I think I paid about $70 for all.

Todays haul, all from the same very nice guy "Rich".
Baldor 7" grinder complete with water cup, tray, cast pedestal, etc., Jet disc/belt sander, Porter Cable Industrial 7" grinder, Sioux corded offset drill. All items are like brand new. Seriously this stuff looks and runs as though it was lightly used maybe a couple of times.

Total? <$1000

Baldor-Jet-PC-Sioux_zpsd9hpgqlx.jpg

Today I sold the Jet sander for $700 cash, that means I have ~$250 into the Baldor grinder, P.C. grinder, and Sioux drill, all in like-new condition. This deal keeps getting better! :)

Well, the Jet was used exactly once to smooth out a piece of trim so $700 was a great deal ... for the buyer! :lol_hitti

I admit I have Baldor Envy.

Guess so, all the early bird tool guys were there. I missed the long Vulcan breaker bar and long Williams ratchet by a minute or so. Nice vintage Snap On box there but too high today. Good luck this weekend.

3Bay, I saw that long Williams in the photo's. Didn't think that would last to long and looks like I was right. There is always another one out there. Beside with all the Vulcan stuff you have been getting lately you need to get the Vulcan version anyway. I hit the NT area today and got a good score. Photo's later. Got to hit the girlfriend friendly sales tomorrow but she is a good sport since she will scope out tools because she knows her stuff is almost at every sale. More good luck to you tomorrow also.

A day off today so I was able to hit some of the sales opening today.

Older gentleman was just bringing stuff over to his daughter' sale just as I was leaving. Kids pipe up that he is bringing some leftover work tools. Strike up a conversation and come to find out he was a machinist at a local GM plant that dad, grandpa and many other males in my family worked for at one time. Well say 30 minutes later after talking about the plant and numerous other subjects I went to settle up on my pickings. He says he just wants to get rid of the stuff and he say's how about $7 or $8 and he doesn't want to overcharge me !.........ahhh okay  I am one of those weird guys that will pay more than asking price when they throw me a number that is way too low so I ended up paying more, but not much more ! The gentleman just wanted the stuff gone.

Snap-On extendable magnetic pick-up tool

Craftsman Screw Thread Gauge

Basically unused full set of Snap-On 1/4" drive deep metric sockets

IMG_0703_zpsujise5ir.jpg

From other sales,

1 5/8" Cornwell wrench and Craftsman flex head ratchet total $12.

Picked up three vises today.

The Reed Pipe Vise looks to be in very good condition.

The little hand vise will go into my collection.

Then the strangest contraption for a vise I've ever seen.

Finally a large steel plumb bob with no markings.

I was looking at a Clamp-on Pipe vise like that a week or so ago. I passed on it... "Oh that? that's antique...." Silly money. AND it was damaged and beat/rusted to ****.

Picked up a bunch of "smalls" recently.

Today I did a LOT of driving (100 miles round trip) to hit various sales that sounded better than they were. Did find a few things.

1st stop bust, 2nd stop lots of General Made in USA measurement tools, Taiwan mini
rotating vise, Craftsman 4" adjustable, dividers, air chisel punch, saw handle. $26

3rd stop pair of Sears made in USA 3 ton jackstands and old hardware in the packages, Proto pin spanner tool, General Motors 1940's polishing cloth in the tin, old first aid kit, Craftsman deep socket holder and Ford power steering pump pulley installer. $18

Last couple of weeks a few different picks.
Companion badged wood plane $12, hand brush, old stapler, Craftsman file, MAC screwdriver, new eyeshields for grinder and at the flea market Snap On ratcheting screwdriver and cotter pin puller, Williams spanner wrench, S-K 1/4" driver and Proto nutdriver $5 for 5 items.

Not pictured is the 30 empty Mason jars I got for $2 that I traded for $10 worth of canned goods and fresh food at the local farmers market.

**** the pictures won't load let me retry in a bit.

I got a chance to look through some of the random sockets I picked up as dads house yesterday. This is all from my grandmothers house dad got what he wanted and let me pick through what I thought I could use. I was drawn to this box first.

Hey Jeremy, I have the exact same MK14 box. Mine didn't have anything in it when I acquired it, but I still love it!

I blame the GJ for this purchase! I wandered up to a GS today and found this waiting in the light rain. It is virtually unused!

The only damage is to the 2 back corners - where the threaded feet are anchored. It looks like it fell over while stored - and a little surface discoloration on the bottom frame.

They have the box it came in - but the homeowner was locked out of her own house - so they couldn't get to it.

Cheers

Jim

My town held its town wide sale today. Went to over 30 sales. It was seriously slim pickings. Mostly baby stuff and furniture.

Guy caught me looking at this HF motor and told me to make an offer. I really didn't need it so I lowballed him with a $25 offer thinking he would immediately refuse. He took the offer! It's a direct fit replacement for my snowblower so now I have a spare engine.

Today was a good day. 3 planned stops and only 1 was a dud.

The first was a garage that was being cleared out. This was their second sale, so I thought it would be empty. It wasn't. (I couldn't make it to the first go-around) I spent an hour digging through greasy gold like a kid in a candy store. About half the tools were HF, the other half were a mix of mid level brands with a few truck brands to tease. I originally went to see if I could get a Kennedy roller to match the one I have (I want a pair to make a bench). But the one they had was beat up and didn't have the original castors, so I passed. All the old boxes were in really sad shape. There were a few wrecked SnapOn tops, an MBC bottom, the Kennedy 297, some Craftsman's, and a newer (cheap) Waterloo. All in bad shape. They also had a Cman workstation that I wanted for the drawers, but it was holding up the bench and we couldn't get it out. I may go back and see if they'll sell me the drawers only.

So, here's the haul (pics 1 & 2) - $15
2 - L.S. Starrett #161-D clamps
unknown 2-1/2" c-clamp
2 - 4-1/2" Kant Twist #415 clamps
1 - 1" Kant Twist #401 clamp
4 - 2" Kant Twist #405 clamps

2' 12ga quad Box
Drop Top ashtray
Indicator clamp arm
L.S. Starrett #474S thread gauge
arm clamp
Fairmount #153-GB body hammer
General HDW MFG. #75 auto punch
SnapOn #TM4CSA 1/4"dr driver w/ ratchet socket handle
Starrett #657 magnetic base
2 - MF (Miller's Falls ??) V-blocks w/ clamps

The second sale wasn't as cluttered, but was almost as interesting. There was a hydraulic press that sold as I was walking up, as well as a number of 1/2hp electric motors. They also had a floor model Atlas DP-220 for sale (I didn't get a price).

Here's what I left with (pic 3) - $5
33' 12/3 SJEOW cable
unknown body hammer (planishing hammer ?)
small scoop (made in Germany)
Indicator clamp (same as above minus arms)

Gotta go, I want those drawers.
EDIT : Damn, I didn't read the ad 'til I got into my truck. They closed at 1pm. Guess I'm getting up early tomorrow. :willy_nil

PM me (or post here) with the address, if you don't mind. The CL ad is missing it, and I may make it up there tomorrow.

I had only time for one sale all were a long ways i thought i picked right but the estate sale was way overpriced they wanted $1 per socket and wrench no sets and they were mostly junk with a few good ones. Had some snap on sockets for $5 a piece i passed and had snap on pry bars all beat up for $4 not worth it. I picked up this small tool chest for $15 because it has a bunch of misc tools picked out a few good pieces proto wrench, sockets misc mac, sk, Williams, and had one snap on screwdriver rotted out tho. I picked out enough stuff to make it worth it but the sale was a huge bust better luck next weekend,

Short stop list this week, (no clue why... Maybe Schools out adn everybody went on VACA? :dunno:

Except for a bunk bed ladder for my youngest and her loft bed (No pic $5...) Absolutely NOTHING...

The only saving grace was this from a CL ad: $40 as it was frozen (screw wouldn't turn for them) but I got it to budge, and knew it shouldn't be too tough to get it apart. 3-1/2" jaws the jaws are in pretty good shape so should clean up nice.

As found other than I shot it with PB blaster

You have to get up purty early to be in line ahead of bigcaddy!

Awesome find with that Nuggie set. Thanks for sharing! Don't expect to ever see one of those in the wild.

I found these tools at a recent garage sale. Hardly any was foreign junk. The large combination wrenches are Barcelo-Buffalo, the other wrenches were mostly American made Craftsman. The sockets were name brands. I paid $30.00 for the works. As always, there was a Ford wrench.

Do auction sales count?

I bought a metal box full of tape measures, sockets, wrenches and screw drivers at one today for $20.

Sold the Chinese/Taiwanese made wrenches, a grab bag of cheap 1/4" drive sockets, a pair of cheap tape measures, and the metal box it all came in for $20 (which I later traded for a case of beer).

Kept the old Snap-On, S-K and Craftsman sockets, a couple tapes, some S-K wrench sets, a couple mixed old Craftsman wrenches, and all the screw drivers.

I went for some old snowmobiles and came home with tools instead.

Been hitting yard sales for the past few weekends with no luck till today. Old guy retiring and dumping off everything. Picked up a Hollands 54H 5" pipe vise, thing is huge. Missing 2 of the removable pipe jaws, but everything else looks good. For $50 it was worth dragging out of the weeds. I'm pretty sure the Yoist jaws will fit. Got a 4 1/2" post vise for $25, Columbian 503 1/2 for $20, all the rest of the tools and 700 rounds of 38 Special were $45. Not a bad haul for $140.

Struck out on all my garage sale attempts today (although I did get a pretty sweet Batman coin bank) but made up for it at the Re-Store:

4 ton weaver (thanks to the vintage floor jack thread for identifying it) off a local FB group for $45.

And this intermediate box for $30 from an estate sale sale. Left a two drawer carry box in the same color scheme and badge.

Auction is great here also! We just prefer to see pictures of your scores too!!!
