There were two garage sales in my area yesterday but it was so cold and nasty that turnout was low for both; bad news for the sellers but good news for me. :D

I picked up a 70s vintage Bushnell pocket spotting scope for $1.50, some hockey pucks (for compressor feet) for $.10 each, a car top carrier for $2.00 and an 80s vintage Craftsman "Sawmill" circular saw for $5.00. The saw is in great shape except for the fact that some knucklehead cut the cord and then fixed it with wire nuts, I'll fix it right before I use it. It's just a basic circular saw but I'm amazed at how sturdy it is. It'll go to my weekend cabin, I have a self-imposed rule about only leaving garage sale tools there so if/when it gets broken into I'm not out much. Pics in a bit.

Need Pics nick!

found this Gedore tool box and it came full of the spanners behind it, which must be the worlds supply of unwanted BS/Whitworth spanners, mostly old english brands, snail, williams superslim, Britool, King **** saw a proto, eagle, reform and a shelly spanner and the only Gedore spanner in the box was made in India, anyway £10

It was to cold to wait on line at any sales so I waited until today and grabbed what was left over from Saturdays sales. These are what I found. A Sears 4 inch vise, a Jensen desolder, Lafayette drafting set, Ideal wire stripper and a glass bottle and dropper set I ended up paying $10

Good stuff guys, I can't believe y'all did so well on Valentines Day weekend...I wanted to hit the auction Saturday morning but had prior plans that got cancelled last minute so I missed out on that fun. At least I did manage to score the two cases pictured a couple pages back, thanks for the shout out Strouty, they should come in handy!!

Some swap meet finds from today:

Those two lock cylinders are Best, and they have the control keys in them. The control key is a special key used to install and remove they cylinders. In a master keyed system, they'll also usually open every lock in the system. Judging from the hospital shoulder patch, you might be able to open most of the doors in that facility.

Here's couple of pickups I made, the Walker bottle jack was given to me a couple of weeks ago and I bought the vise at a sale this morning for $15. The vise is an Athol 623, they both need a serious cleaning but work perfectly. More pics of the Athol in the vise thread.

Bokers aren't everyday finds, but not sure I'd class them as rare.. I have 6 pairs.

Nice finds today guys! I had to take the family to visit the MIL so was effectively grounded... (Not that it would have mattered; much nothing local to me or the MIL's town...

If they weren't one of the things I have been searching for a while now I would but I sure would hate to go pay full price after selling these.

Yeah definitely still preseason here in Oklahoma. Only a couple garage sales have been listed in the newspaper this year to date, a few on CL but those never really offer much to my interest.

AZ is probably out of sync with other areas of the U.S.A. (or world for that matter). Beautiful weather here right now. High 70s, low 80s. Activity slows down in the 110 degree summers.

Yeah, smear it in our faces  the temps here are like that one day a week, then back to freezing freakin cold and/or raining... High was 49 today with a 29 low, it'll be like that for a few more days then back in the 70s before raining and 20's-30's again later in the week... Pneumonia weather...

30s? Can't wait for it to warm up to the 30s! 16 here tonite, It's gonna be 10 in the morning. Garage sales are non-existent here in NJ until April at the earliest. You guys are lucky, but it could be worse. Talked to a friend from Buffalo, they're at 154 inches of snow for the season so far as of this morning..

Negative temps are insane, I can't remember ever being in that cold of weather. The major problem with our temps is the humidity that goes with it. It's 76% humidity right now with 35* air temps. When it's hot outside, the humidity is even higher.
I'm not cut out for snow, don't know how you guys do it up there. It rained all day yesterday and was supposed to snow between 3&6am this morning, mostly just sleet though, not like it would stick anyway with everything soaked from the rain...

Major props to you guys in snow and below zero weather!!

BJ, that's awful of you to say but oh so true.

I was flipping channels one day and saw a woman that would read the obituaries and go visit the surviving family members offering to "help the deceased live on through her" by helping clean out the closets and she gets to keep the clothing as payment. The lady was in to vintage fashion as she called it and didn't want to buy it, she wanted to work for it for free. My girl joked that I should do that with garages, she has a dark sense of humor.:scared:

I hate the snow. Really hate it. I don't know why I still live here. I wish I had stayed away when I was younger, but now I have too many ties that I don't want to break.
